August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Hope Jess is enjoying her last few days of summer vacation!

Well she got braces put on yesterday so that is still hurting, but she got invited to Six Flags today and she went. I gave her Ibuprophen to take if she needs it. Maybe it took her mind off it.

Does cruise critic have cruise meets for each cruise or is it just question threads?

Cathy

Wow, I wonder if they add to the Navigator for an extra day at sea or did they stop somewhere else?

Barb, I use my coozy for my Fruit 2 O at work and it is a good conversation starter! I think of you guys.

Barb: I also use mine for my water and it is a wonderful reminder of you, your family and our cruise! So, are Alexa and Ian e-mail pals? I am also glad we had smooth sailing...I did use ginger capsules to be on the safe side.

Cathy: There are some cruise meet threads that they call "roll calls." I am part of a Left Coast Cruiser thread that has a lot of nice people who are major cruisers! I don't think I'll get too heavily into a "meet" thread for our cruise as this is for the 4 of us + Traci's fiancé. And, it's to celebrate my wonderful 5-0 bd; we disembark the day before my big day!

Cathy - that's a beautiful picture - great reminder of all the fun we had. That's awful about Cabo and the big waves. I wouldn't do well with that either. :crazy2: I think we're very very lucky to have had such wonderful weather (even though it was hot) and calm seas.

Stacey - where was that picture taken from? It looks like you guys are standing in the water!

Did I mention that while putting Rhys to bed on Sunday after we got home, he sighed and said that he was sad that there wouldn't be someone by in the morning to make his bed? :rotfl:

Yes Eve, I've been pretty sad too that no one has been by to make my bed!

Out of the mouth's of babes. I hadn't thought of that, I hate to get the check at the end of the meal :sad2: :scared:

I'm glad you are all enjoying your coozies and having fond memories of the cruise.

Jenny, Ian will be able to write more when he gets back to London. He goes home when the Magic docks in FL next week.
I brought sea bands and Bonine with us and fortunately didn't have to use either one. I don't think they would have helped with the seas yesterday.

I am already trying to think of a great vacation for our 5-0 birthdays (Steve is 10 weeks younger than me). It will be Jessica's freshman year of college in 2010 so we should be free to go whenever we want. My birthday is during most colleges January break so we could bring her if she wanted, Steve's is in March.

My boss is taking RCCL to Alaska this September. She is doing some cool excursions which I can find out about when she returns. She is taking a helicopter glacier tour and riding ATV's in the forest among others. Another manager at my company is cruising the Greek Isles and France in September too - that would be good for 2010 maybe!

Wow Cathy, you really like to plan far in advance! I am thinking Tahiti for our 25th anniversary in 2008 even though it's been a tradition to go to Hawaii for anniversary trips - not sure if it'll be a cruise or a land vacation. I always thought the bungalows over the water were "cool" until last year's tsunami :guilty: . I think I'll just wait and see how our Alaska trip goes. The 4 of us had a lot of fun last year on the Monarch - we joined in a lot of activities and contests. I would be interested in knowing how your co-worker enjoyed her cruise and land excursions.

Barb - That's neat that Ian was able to take part in the West Coast cruises. Was he able to do much in Mexico? When we went to Krystal for our massages, we walked with 2 crewmembers who also had spa appts. They also enjoyed the pools and resort activities. That would be the fun part of working on a cruise ship!

I still can't upload to my photobucket album. Because I only have dial-up it times out before my pics are fully loaded. I'm still playing with it and am determined to get at least 1 album online. I did finish printing out most of my pics and they are already placed in an album.

Wow Jenny - all printed out and in albums already? Good for you! I've abandoned paper albums - never have time to do them (or just too lazy, lol). I put our pictures together last year on a picture DVD set to Disney music (Mannheim Steamroller Meets the Mouse) and plan on doing the same with the pics from this trip. I bought a Wishes CD while on board and plan on using music from that. I think it's easier to do - just sitting there on my laptop and sync-ing the pics and music. It's just finding the time to sit down and get it done....;)

I printed mine all out and just slipped them into an album, nothing fancy, no "scrapbooking" or anything. I like to have something to take to work and share but someday I would like to try to do a DVD of them. I like the idea of putting them to music but I've never tried to. I'm off next week, maybe I'll spend some trying to do one.
School starts on Monday, I just got home from registration at both schools. Kenney doesn't get his classes until the first day but Sara got hers today. She has a "foreign language exploration" class, her science teacher from last year told us the rumor around school is that the language they will be learning is french. So I guess I can see if I remember any french from high school a million years ago! I think it is interesting that just days before school is starting they don't know for sure what language it is. Or maybe she just didn't want to say for sure. Spanish would be much more useful though!
I guess I better go do something about dinner, I don't think Noel is coming to take our order tonight!

Steve made chicken for dinner last night and he started talking like Noel saying he would "recommend blah blah, comes with a nice blah blah on the side", etc. It was funny. I hate washing pots and pans.

Alexa started school today and she didn't mind going which surprised me a lot. She has french is semester, last year she had 1 semester of latin. Then she gets 1 semester, for each of the next 2 years, of spanish. I told her she was on her own for french, but I would be able to help her a bit with spanish. Jay took german so he won't be of any help to her.
Vickie, do you think long distance homework buddies would be an option for Sara and Alexa for french homework? :confused3

Cathy, did Steve give you EXCELLENT service and was the food just very good or was it EXCELLENT? :teeth: :rotfl:

I don't think they would get much studying done! :teacher: :rolleyes2

I changed my 2nd counter for our week with ::MickeyMo at Easter. I can't bring myself to change my other old counter until I have another cruise booked for 2007. :rolleyes1

I booked a weekend at Disneyland December 9-11th. My dream Disneyland trip, when the park is decorated for Christmas and a room at the Grand Californian! Now I just have to convince myself it is worth all that money for one short weekend!
Anyone want to meet us there?
Vickie

Vickie - That's sounds like a plan! But, we usually stay on Harbor - have never tried the GCH. I was going to say I have to check the block-out days and then realized we are now Premium APs for the first time ever. We upgraded to get in for the Birthday! Photo-wise I was really impressed with our PictureMate...I hadn't used it before and it was fun!

Cathy - And, when you gave Steve his tip envelope did he give you a peck on the cheek like Nazim did?? I still can't believe he did that :earboy2: .

I finally figured out how to use PhotoBucket - and was practicing with a hodge-podge of pics...but here it is: http://photobucket.com/albums/a202/jtcruiser/

I still need to redo titles but I need to get to bed. We're still working out at 5:30 and then on Saturday we leave in the morning for the Mets/Giants game in SF! We'll wave to you Vickie as we pass by...actually we'll be on the 5 to the 580/80.

Have a great weekend!!

Nice pictures Jenny! You'll be almost close enough to wave, if you were going 580 to 238 then you really would be close enough to wave! You'll pass through San Leandro (heading north) on 580, we're the next city south of San Leandro so throw us a big wave as you pass!

That is funny, it was EXCELLENT, but I did my own cleaning up afterwards... :sad1:

Jenny, nice photos. I remember you telling me about getting Brynee in the kiddie pool.

I was reading about the cruises that got shortened or delayed due to Hurricane Katrina in Florida. Some got an extra day at sea! Others lost a day and got different compensation offers... Hope that doesn't happen when I go.
