August 5th 2012, Magic- NY to Canada

I haven't crafted any lanyard nametags for this cruise. Ken has officially retired from doing them and I'm not the most creative when it comes to putting ideas onto computer generated forms. I haven't seen any posts that others have created any nametags but I could have missed it...

joycsk- looking forward to meeting your parents. We are doing the Cruise just before this one with our grandchildren and daughters and then my husband and I are continuing on with the Canadian one. It will be out 8th DCL cruise

Hi, HappyGoofy. Although my parents are computer literate, (my Dad very much so) they don't tend to do things like bulletin boards. I'll share your info with them and maybe create an email exchange! Happy Thursday!

My FE gifts are already underway. However, on a prior cruise, someone did "Disboards lime green" rubber bracelets (think livestrong) as a gift. Although they might not work for formal night, they were a quick, easy and unobtrusive way to identify others from the board.

Does anyone know the history of why lime green is associated with disboards? I've been around long enough to know that it is, but don't know the why.

I have gotten my FE done and even made extra (we are leaving for WDW on July 16th for 2 weeks). I put a card in with my gifts with a small message and DH and my name along with my Disboards name as well.

When we did a cruise about 2 years ago someone did do the barclets we just sent money to that person and they mailed them out to us. I think if we are going to be doing this we did to get it done by the end of the month. I dont mind ordering but need to do so soon

I too have been on the Disboards for years and don't know the origin of the lime green. I will try and find out. I think the bracelet idea is good since time is getting short. I was going to put an index card with Happy Goofy in the landyard DCL gives us

Asked about the Lime Green for the disboards on another thread and the anawer I got was that it was started years ago so people would recognize Disboarders at WDW and DL. They even wore lime green clothing. It just extended over to the DCL

Getting a little nervous. I have been reading some of the reports from returning cruisers from Canada and they have not been the greatest reports especially about the excursions. I guess we will have to make our own good time on the ship with our Disboard friends.

I hope the excursions get the kinks worked out before we get there, hoping for some interesting ones that are more sightseeing. Our DS is having facial surgery (He is a pitcher and was hit with a line drive in his nose, eye, and forehead last year.) 2 1/2 weeks before the cruise to finish up the repairs from last year's surgery. He doing great and should be good to go. I can't wait!!

I've been reading the trip reports too and the excursion with the most 'poor' notes has been the Scenic RR excursion. I'm going to cancel that today and probably go with the HO/HO bus instead.

In case anyone is interested, here are the Bay of Fundy tides for when we are there...

Before the Hawaiian cruise we spent a couple of days at DL and my husband and I had the lime green Mickey from Home Depot on the front of our shirts and no one stopped to say hello. I know there had to be a lot of Disboarders at the park because on the cruise there were over 200 on board/

I can not Believe that I am hearing that upgrades have been so cheep so far. The question has become do we do it or do we not.

WOW! What have you been hearing for prices?

We changed to a cabin on deck 2 from a veranda because DD will just turn 11 and I am not comfortable with her having the freedom to leave Edge to wander on her own so wanted a cabin near Edge for her to return to. She has been asking lately if she can do the lab again and I have been reading that some 11 and 12 year olds are choosing lab so now might consider upgrading at the port.

For the June 10th cruise (at the port) someone went from Deck 2 (Cat 10?) to Deck 10 (Cat 3??) for around $400.

Almost a month until our cruise!! lady9, you can talk to the counselors once you get onboard.

I saw that post. I believe he went from a cat 9 to a cat 5 for that price. Sign me up if it's available on our date!

Okay....cruise is now officially real....doing the doc dance here in Toronto :cool1::cool1:
