August 5th 2012, Magic- NY to Canada

Doesn't look like the recent Navigators have anything else planned for us around 3pm, so the Promenade Lounge it is!

Who will be carrying the clipboard?!:lmao:

As a teacher, I'm well experienced in taking attendance - but who Wants to on vaca???:rotfl:

Hello All, I can't remember what the cutoff date is for the Fish Extenders group is? I just want to make sure I have enough "stuff" for everyone.

Hello All, I can't remember what the cutoff date is for the Fish Extenders group is? I just want to make sure I have enough "stuff" for everyone.

The cut off date is July 15th. I know that I have been working on getting my stuff done - we leave for WDW in 8 days and are gone for 2 weeks.

I will be there at the 3:00 meet up and live the idea of the cards in the lanyards. Will work mine up this week.

Sorry don't know how that thread got on my last post. Don't click on it unless you want to read someone trip report. Just read the rest of the post about the name tags Don't know if first time cruisers get a silver landyard or not.

First time cruisers usually do not receive a lanyard. If they are in a cabin with repeat cruisers, sometimes the cast member will give them a lanyard as well, but that is not the norm.

Why would we need lanyards? Do we need to wear identification while onboard? (We are first time cruisers and I am A-OK with not getting lanyards as long as I don't actually need it for something . . .)

The lanyards are for your key to the world card, all you need when onboard. The kttw opens your cabin, is used for all onboard purchases and gets you on and off the ship. Every passenger receives one.

Thanks! We have waterproof cases for our KTTW, credit cards, ID, insurance cards, etc. I'm sure my children will love the lanyards!! :):):)

Hi Guys,

Big weekend! My DW and I will be going to Woodbury Commons to do some last minute shopping for our cruise. Hopefully she won't buy everything she sees.

How about you? Have you gotten everything you need for our cruise to Canada?

Sorry, just re-read my post. Everyone gets a kttw. Only returning cruisers get a lanyard. Sorry for any confusion!

Can someone please reassure me that we will have a good time on this cruise just because it's Disney and it's fun and if we knew nothing about the DIS, fish extenders, shore excursions, dining rotations, etc.etc.etc. and just showed up, it would still be wonderful? I am feeling so overwhelmed by everything related to this cruise, I'm beginning to regret ever booking it. Not quite sure why it's getting to me so much, but I feel like I've done a terrible job preparing and it's so late in the game at this point I don't even know where to begin. Sorry to whine; I just need some reassurance :)

As a frequent DCL cruiser, weve cruised all over tge Caribbean, Europe, Transatlantic, etc, please dont worry. i would equate your cruise to an unplanned trip to Walt Disney World. All the magic would still be there, but you wouldnt be eating at Le Cellier or the Castle. Youll learn as you go and will have plenty of choices to make to keep busy. It is a vacation, RELAX, and roll with it!!!

OK....take a deep breath....the main thing to remember is that you are going on a disney cruise! Your DDs are the perfect age for the magic that disney brings. The first few times I cruised disney I knew nothing about the DIS, FEs etc and we had a blast. It sounds as if the main attraction for you is the ship? If so, don't stress about excursions. Get off the ship, grab a map and just explore...In Halifax, there is lots to do really close to the port. Dining rotations don't really matter. Folks each have their favourite dining room, but they are all special interest own way. If the FE is becoming stressful, then opt out. It should be fun, not overwhelming. Decide what is most important to you about the cruise And focus on that. Most of all, make sure you take time to enjoy what is going on around you! The majority of people who cruise dcl don't overplan, scour the dis, and worry about which dr they are in....:)

This will be our 8th DCL cruise and I know what you mean about being stressed. Just enjoy the ship, the characters and the friends you meet. Everything else will fall into place.

I felt the same way when I took my first DC in 2010. The best advanced that someone gave me was don't worry about doing everything, just take your time and smell the roses. We never booked any excurisions, but had an awesome time just getting off the boat and exploring. The only thing you need to prepare for the trip is that you are going to left the dice roll and have ana amazing time.

Thanks so much for the reassurances. I did drop out of the FE because it's just too much right now. We are looking forward to relaxing, enjoying the ship and ports, and just going with the flow. I'm sure this won't be our last cruise:)

One more question (I really hope this is my last) - what are our chances of getting a meal at Palo if I go to the correct place (which is currently escaping me) when we board? I keep checking the DCL site in case there are cancellations, but so far have been out of luck.
