truck1...I guess as you were posting that you figured it out...I was posting what it was! Anyhoo...I am going to leave this information for anyone who might need it!


Here is an explanation of the FE or Fish Extender...


Apparently many cruises ago...some DISers decided to exchange gifts with one another. The DISers then hung some sort of tote or bag or wall organizer outside of their cabin on the "fish" that is outside of each stateroom. Other DISers would then go around at different times throughout the cruise and place goodies inside the tote...sort of like trick or treating...but in reverse! When families would return to their stateroom...they would find the goodies inside of their tote!


If you go back a few pages in this board...you will see some of our FEs or Fish Extenders. Many people make their own FE...and some buy them...


So far we have 8 families participating in our FE exchange...we would love to add one more!!!


Please let us know if you have any questions...we can go into further detail if you would like...or you can look at the main cruise board...they usually have a couple of threads regarding FEs.

Yeah, I am sitting here in Key Largo on a dive vacation and was looking to see if someone posted to it and it hit me about the same time!
On another note we did go from gty to a room number, 6060.

This is my first cruise and my first Fish Extender Exchange. lol How does it work exactly?

Do you give one big gift the beginning of the cruise? At the end of the cruise? Or a bunch of little things throughout the cruise?

Gift giving through the FE exchange can vary from cabin to cabin. I know that this is going to sound vague, but...some people give gifts everyday of the cruise...some people give just one gift per cruise...some people give gifts to each individual in a cabin...others give to the entire group in the cabin. So there is really no one way to doing a FE exchange. Some cruises have 100+ cabins participating in the exchange and they usually break the cabins up into smaller groups and sometimes can assign days for gift giving. In our instance...we really have not set any "rules" out for gift giving.


I imagine that most will give a couple of times to each cabin...that has been my experience in the past. On my last cruise we had 6 cabins participating and we gave gifts out 3 times...it was soooooo much fun! And every time we turned around...something new was in our FE! The kids had a blast!!!

Hi all plenty crew
Going through the spread sheet I am curious why so many cruisers do not know their cabin number as when we booked we choose straight away ,we are complete novices so is probably something simple.

Also kristina you can add uk and Italy to our names as although my DH has lived in the UK for many years he is still an Italian and it makes our group look very cosmopolitan

Hi All! I am sooooooooo excited! I just figured out my FE gifts!!!


On a different note...Janet - I know that we have not received our cabin number because we booked a category 12 gty room. That means that Disney will assign us a cabin...either a cat. 12 or lower, however; since my family has 4 people traveling in it (the cat. 12s only hold 3 people) we are guaranteed a cat. 11 cabin. On our last cruise we booked the cat. 12 and sailed in a cat. 10. Anyhoo...we should find out our cabin number sometime around the 30 day mark...it is really kind of fun gambling with the prospect of what category and cabin we are going to get! I will keep you all posted!
