August 30th 2009 - 4 night Wonder

We'll be coming into Orlando late the night before, staying at the airport hotel and taking the Disney transfer bus to the port so I'll be at the mercy of the Mouse I'm afraid :-) Probably won't arrive until early afternoon maybe? Cut off date for fish extender participants signing up would be very helpful for us internationalites (so we can plan an appropriate amount of luggage space) cruising with the Plenty o' Rum n Parlay 4 None crew :)

Only a short time now until dining reservations open up for my stay (after the cruise) - so much planning to do since we're doing the DXDP! Has anyone tried making online reservations or have they not opened to the public yet, only travel agents?

Speaking along planning lines...when you all get an opportunity...please post a date that would be good for cutting off the FE exchange list. Like on my last cruise...the cut-off date was April 1st for an April 9th cruise...however...no one was traveling from out of country...so this worked for us. The "Plenty o' Rum n Parlay 4 None" sailing will need a lot more time between cut-off and cruise in order to ready the FE stuff...so give us your thoughts! :coffee:


Also...while your thinking...:dance3: take a look at the Disney Wonder deck plans - deck 9. There are several locations on that deck that would be good for the DISmeets location...like...Goofy's Galley/Scoops or Pluto's Dog House or the stage area. Or if anyone has any other suggestions for the location...let us know! :idea: We will finalize something soon...

Maybe a cut-off of 1 August? I'm going to be on work related travel from mid August until shortly before I head to the US for the cruise at the end of the month so a bit of time to prepare before the middle of the month would be handy for me, but maybe the 1st is too early?
 
Carys - I think that closer to the 1st of August is probably a good date...let's see what some others think...:idea: We might be able to push it to the first week also...:confused3 Anymore ideas?

Funny thing is, I was about to mention it in my last post, but then thought that it would be too early and unfair for the others. I am leaving Athens on August 6th. Of course, I was planning on bringing extras for any 'late arrivals'. Still, this is all theoretical as I have not yet figured out what our contribution will be!

As far as a meet, I hear that the promenade lounge is a good spot, out of the sun. Of course, because there will be a lot of young ones, maybe not too far from the Mickey pool? 4 year olds do not want to meet a bunch of strangers when they know they could be going down the wonderful Mickey slide!:goodvibes

We also haven't heard from some people for a while :upsidedow I wonder if everyone is still 'on board' so to speak. (:rolleyes: my humor, I know:rolleyes:)

I'll give it a day or so before locking in on the FE exchange cut-off date. Looks like the August 1 date might work for most...also wanted to bring up the possibility that someone may want to get in on the FE exchange closer to the sail date...I realize that this defeats the purpose of having a cut-off date, but what are you going to do? I know that in the past I brought extra FE stuff and so do others...so what I can do is continue to keep all FE participants informed of changes via PMs and I will bring paper copies of the updated FE list to the DISmeets - just in case. Does this sound reasonable? Or should we just say the cut off is the cut off? I kind have been thinking about this one and was not quite sure how to handle it...opinions please... :confused:


On the same note...the last posting for the FE exchange was post number 308. There are 14 families listed, however; only 7 families put the fish beside their name...so the number 7 may be higher. What we could do is switch this list over to PMs only. I kind of think that some of this info. would be best kept confidential via PMs only to the participants. This would also allow us to get in touch with those people who have not been on this thread in awhile and are on the list. This PM list could contain updates and be sent directly to those who are participating. What do you all think? :grouphug:


Lastly...the Promenade Lounge is a great place to meet. It's on deck 3 near Parrot Cay...and it's air conditioned! Keep the suggestions coming...:rolleyes1

pirate: August 1st is the deadline for signing up for the FE exchange. Those who want to join later may be placed on the list with the knowledge that they may not receive items from everyone...due to prior planning and such. I will bring a hard copy of the final list to the DISmeets onboard. There was just a great thread about this on the main Disney Cruise boards called FE Etiquette. :cutie:

pirate: DISmeets for August 30th onboard the Wonder...I think that we should meet around 3:00PM at the Promenade Lounge. Everything aboard the Wonder begins to shut down around 3:30 for the 4:00 mandatory safety drill...so 3:00 usually works very well. :)


pirate: As far as other planning goes...I saw in some very early posts about maybe a pre-cruise meet and a MNSSHP meet. What are your thoughts on this? For my family...we will not be in town long enough on either end of the trip to go to one of these, however; for those of you who would like to meet some more...let's start planning! Gosh, I hope that wasn't politically 'uncorrect'!:upsidedow but that is exactly what I exclaimed while reading DoaD's last post! How wonderfully organized we are all going to be!!:banana::yay::dance3:

I have no problems being public or private on the fish extender info, but I am thinking of sending pm's of a picture of my family for reference purposes...

Once again, only theoretical because getting my family to sit still for a picture is easily said than done, even when for passport photos!:rotfl:
