August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Wow that's a great deal. I have looking around for good prices on airfare but so far no luck. We are staying at the Swan for a few days before our cruise. We got the rooms at $110 a night I thought that was a good deal.

We're staying at the Holiday Inn Oceanfront in Cocoa Beach. I have never stayed there before. From the reviews, I know it is an older hotel, so if I don't have great expectations, hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised. We are coming a few days early and wanted some beach time with the kids, and they had a decent rate and a kidsuite that we could all stay in together.

I drove by the Holiday Inn on my way to visit my DMIL who was staying at "The Resort" time share after we got off of our last DCL cruise. It looks like a nice hotel from the outside:thumbsup2

Plus you will be very close to the port on cruise day. Maybe you could eat dinner at Grills and watch the Wonder leave on Thursday:confused3

Welcome aboard!!!!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

With all the baggage fees that the airlines are charging, I am wondering how many people actually dress up for formal nights:confused3

I was thinking about it and I have the four ladies plus DMIL in our cabins. That would be an interesting night of dress up preparation.

What is everyone doing?

We're dressing for formal night. My brother is getting married the day before we leave for FL and are just bringing the clothes we wear to that and having them cleaned in FL prior to getting on the ship. We're in FL for a week before the cruise sails, so we have enough time. We're flying southwest, so we get 2 bags per person free, so that's 8 bags. I don't even own 8, so we'll get everything down. I'm going to do laundry either at Universal or the first sea day.

Super!!!!!
I'm coming alone with my kids too. Maybe we can meet for coffee or a chat by the pool while the kids are in their activities. :)

We're driving, so we'll be able to bring anything we need. I tend to do the little black dress thing on formal night. :)

We love dressing up, so we will definitely go all out for formal night. If you don't want to, you won't feel at all out of place though, since many --perhaps most? -- don't get that dressed up.

Paid off the cruise today!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:I could have waited a bit more but just wanted to know I would be paid in full well before the 90 day mark . . .

It's not that I don't like getting dressed up. I wear a suit 6 days a week most of the time. I even own my own tux. It just feels awkward when others don't dress up. It feels like everyone is looking at you:rotfl:

My MIL is coming down on SW Airways later in the week so I could send our dress clothes with her. Especially since I am picking her up from MCO:thumbsup2

We are also dressing up for formal night. We don’t get to do it very often so it's nice when there is an occasion for it. I am hoping that we can get a nice family picture taken on that day.

Being away from home for two weeks we have heavy bags. We wear bottoms twice, sea days bathing suits are really all you need, same goes for CC. This cuts down on some packing. Sun dresses for me and my DD also save room. I've also learned to buy vacation clothes that are light weight and don't wrinkle too much.

When it comes to formal night, we get dressed up. However, we have all our clothes pressed when we get on board. We don't have to be as careful when we pack and get more items in each bag.

Last year I sent DD out to buy 2 new suitcases! I thought he was going to kill me. But some bags in our old set were smaller, that's a waste to me. The biggest bag possible is my rule. The best bag we have is the rolling duffle from LL Bean. WOW does that baby hold a lot!!

We fly SWA, that gives us 6 bags at 50 lbs each. Yeah, I go to the max on each bag. I also travel with a bag scale. If you need it just ask. I've been the crazy mom on the ground in MCO at the ticket counter moving dirty laundry from one bag to another. Never again!

Hi Goofy4u!!! We cruise on the Mexcian together back in 2005!!!! I just noticed it in your siggy. How have you been!!!

We like to dress for formal night, too. We get a nice family picture with my boys in their ties and hubby in a suit. They all look so handsome. Of course they grumble, but it's one night, and it makes mom happy, so they do it.

I would love to do that, unfortunately my hubby will be at the airport picking the older son and his wife up at that time.
