August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Hey All!

Just curious if anyone else has seen this...

Background:
I was seeing on the boards about some CC members getting PIN code emails for Kids Sailing Free for summer cruises through 08/29. Always wanting to save a penny, and since we did not get a PIN Code email (:guilty:), I was curious about what current room cost are for our cruise date.

So, I went out to the DCL and attempted to book a room for the 08/29/09 sailing, and guess what?

The 08/29/09 sailing does not even appear on the DCL web site as being an option to book! :scared1:

I presume that this means our sailing is full!

What's the word on the street? Anyone been hearing the same? Just curious...

What I heard is that there is still availability as long as you aren't booking children -- so our cruise is not sold out but is over-run with kids! Not sure why, since many kids are back in school then (but not in NYC).

I know -- I was longing for that PIN code as well . . .

Actually that's untrue, if you try to book 4 adults in one cabin, still sold out, if you book 3 people, one being a child, there is still availability. My guess is that there are no more cabins that will hold 4 left, or it could be a lifeboat capacity issue.

I rember when this thread started. Many have dropped out since then. But its great to see that people are getting to know a little about each other and about our cruise.

Hopefully the ice will be broken so that we will all quickly have a vaction of our lifetime:thumbsup2

Welcome aboard!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

We just booked this cruise and were able to use a PIN code that we received as an email (Castaway Cay Members) however when we called back to put down the deposit we were told that our pin had become invalid because this cruise date is sold out in terms of how many pins they can put on any single cruise. Luckily they were able to reinstate our PIN so here we come!!!

In our Party

Jamie(me) and Husband
with a new baby who is still on the way
any suggestions on cruising with an infant are welcome

My parents and 15yo twin brothers

Joe,

Last year my second cruise it was my husbands first ( our honeymoon actually) he got a CC lanyard anyway because we were traveling together so she might got one anyway ...

Sorry it did not add a quote from Joe that he would buy his DMIL a lanyard

Welcome aboard!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

This will be the first cruise I have ever taken where I just come in the day before, stay at the airport, and leave from the ship to go back to the airport . . . usually we do WDW either before or after, but not this time.

Julie you may want to call DCL we were planning on staying friday night at the airport Hyatt as well but when I was on the phone with DCL she offered a special with the Swan and Dolphin Resort for a much lower price than the Hyatt the other benefit is that you will transfer from the airport to the hotel on a disney transfer and then there is only one bus from the hotel to the boat so no waiting in the bus lines at the airport on saturday morning

We will just show up with wide smiles:goodvibes Hope for the best and be prepared for the worst (bring an old lanyard).

No worries, we just want her to fit in:thumbsup2

That sounds terrific! I was able to book the Hyatt on my points and paid nothing:goodvibes, so I think I will stick with that. Welcome aboard! This is going to be a wonderful cruise:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hi Folks
Just wanted to drop in & say hello to those we'll be with in August!
Mark,
Glad you decided to join the thread. One more thing in common besides doing the celebrity cruise, it looks like at least our children will cross paths on this ship, as I too, will have one in each of the clubs, as it looks like you will too. Mine though, are all boys!

Welcome to all the newcomers!!! Mark, Julianna was VERY excited to get Emily's email yesterday, she answered it straight away!!! She can't wait to meet her in August!!!! We're staying at PBH at Universal 24 Aug until we leave for the Magic. If our time overlaps there, we should try to get the girls together prior to getting onboard.

waltwhorshipper - maybe you should repost the FE around here, so all the newcomers could see it instead of having to head back to page 27 to find it.

Hi Folks

Just wanted to drop in & say hello to those we'll be with in August!

We are Me (Mark) DW (Rachel) & DDs (Emily 12 & Lucie 10) & DS (Matt 6)..... we're from Nottingham England. We end up in Florida most years normally in a Villa.... discovered cruising a couple of years ago & have been spoilt by Disney. We'll be staying at Hard Rock Hotel at Universal for 4 days then another 4 in a Marriott vacation home before joining the cruise. From memory were in a cat 4 cabin on the deck 8 (had to book a cat 4 as there are 5 of us!)

Spookily, I saw Waltworshippers post above & my wife & I were on the same Celebrity cruise as them to Jamaica and Grand Camen last week - it really is a small world!!!!!!!

See everyone is getting their packs now ..... ours are getting shipped to the UK so guess it will take a bit longer to reach us!!

Before our last Disney cruise, I posted on DIS boards and my daughters made pen friends who they emailed before meeting on the ship. They are still in touch with them now.
If anyone has girls who are around their age who'd like to get in touch with my girls here in England then drop me a message. They both have their own email addresses and I'm happy to pass on their emails or get them to drop your girls an email.
They are both very sensible girls and will be happy to reply & keep in touch... they'll get excited to meet their friends in the clubs onboard!

Will keep watching and reading the thread & look forward to seeing everyone onboard.

Hope there are a couple of kids who'd like to get in touch with my girls

Cheers

Mark

Hi, I saw a few posts about people looking for penpals.

DD (Kayleigh) is going to be 9 at the time of the cruise, entering 4th grade. Thankfully in New York, school starts late!

Kayleigh's E-mail address is Kayiscoolestkid@aol.com.

Here's a little note from her:
Hey everyone. I'm from NY. I always wondered what it was like in England. One of my favorite movies is based on it.. Peter Pan return to neverland. i am supposed to play softball in little league this spring, but I just got a cast off of my leg. I broke it during recess at school :-( Enough about me, what are you interested in? Do you play Nintendo Wii or board games or do arts and crafts? My favorite classes are science and history. I like to watch iCarly and the Suite life on Deck. I wish i could live on a cruise forever!

Please write back. I'd like to make friends before we go on the cruise!
Kayleigh

Here is the original post

I would be happy to track the people interested in doing the FE. Since the old list has a few people that have left, I would like to start a new list instead of looking back trying to figure out who is here and not here anymore. If you are interested in participating in the FE for our cruise, please PM me so I can keep it straight. Please let me know your names, ages, and if you know yet, your cabin number.

If you need to know what a FE is, it is a pouch that hangs off of the fish outside your door. People that have decided to participate will deliver some sort of gift on their assigned day, and leave it in your pouches, then on your assigned day, you will deliver to everyone else's pouches. There are pictures of FE's and the examples of the gifts on the main cruise boards at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607&highlight=fe+gifts.

We have decided to do a one time delivery each. The post below contains both the families participating and the day of the week you are assigned to deliver. If there is a certain day you would like to deliver, please let me know. I will grant requests in the order I receive them. If I don't hear from some families by the end of July, I will pm them to make sure they are still going and still want to participate. I try to check in on this thread every day or two.

Thanks MN_Cruz'n for the help with my signature stuff. I think I got it figured out.

And thanks to nycemschic for the ideas for surprising our kids. I talked to my DW about your ideas and she thought they were great. We have to tweak them a little but I think I can make it work. I'm a police detective so my daughter is somewhat use to me not being able to go outta town with them sometimes. She's going to be 10 so its going to be a bit of challenge to pull it off. My son is 3 1/2 and he just goes along with the program. I'll let you know what we come up with. I tried to respond to your PM but I was blocked because I don't have enough messages yet on the board to be allowed to post. Even though I've been on the boards for a few years reading the posts I haven't had a lot to say.:)

Thanks Again

Just wondering what everyone's plans are. This is our first time to St. Martin and St. Thomas. In St. Martin, we're going to go to Loterie Farm and do the Extreme Ziplining adventure. Woo-hoo. It looks so fun and exciting. You can see videos of it on you-tube.

In St. Thomas, we're going to take the ferry over to St. John and go to Trunk Bay for some beach time and snorkeling.

At Castaway Cay, some of us want to parasail and jetski. Also debating the wildside tour for teens. I've heard only good things about this. Anyone have experience with it?

Looking forward to hearing what you're doing.
