August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

We finally booked!

This will be our 4th cruise... this is the first time we booked through the DVC. Unfortunately, our first choice was the tortola cruise on 8/15, but apparently when going through DVC, you have to book WAAAAY earlier than we ever imagined.

This actually worked out perfectly though. It cost us fewer points and we still get back in time for my daughter and I to attend the first day of school! Now we just hafta wait an extra 2 weeks to set sail :-(

Me: 35
DH: 45
DD: 9

Is anyone is from the NY metro area??? We are from Long Island.
We also booked our cruise through DVC and we're outside Princeton, NJ. Howdy DVC neighbor!!!!!

Welcome aboard:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

We are in Manhattan:goodvibes I have three daughters, but the youngest will be 12 at the time of the cruise, so a little order than yours.

Sorry you weren't able to take advantage of the pin.

Me too, but we did rebook this cruise onboard, so we saved 10%. With this promotion, we would have save a little more compared to the 10% though. Maybe we should call back to check. Though we did pacify ourselves about it when we saw that we'd have to rebook for a gty now as that's all that's left in Cat 4 and we really love the room we're booked in now, 8088. We stayed in it before and the location was great, plus our friends are in 8084 so we're close to them (poor family in the Cat 3 between us!). If we did rebook, we'd lose that room most likely and who knows where we'd end up and I don't want to be under the Goofy pool.

You stink!!!!!!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao: I LOVE 8088, all that was left when we booked was 8584. I kept checking daily for that room to open up, now I guess I don't......:mad:(just kidding)

It's a great location, isn't it! Sorry we 'stole' it from you. ;) We booked it last April on our Western, but we booked it for 10/10/09. We switched dates sometime last summer, maybe August or early September actually? Can't remember. Anyway, we were thrilled to see the same room was available on the 8/29 sailing. Our friends got 8084 right around the same time as us and I was shocked to see that those 2 rooms were available and not grabbed up early on. I'm sure 8584 is just as great though, right across the hall! :thumbsup2

It is a great location, right off the aft elevators. The only issue I have is that it's connecting. It is connecting to a 1br suite, so hopefully we won't have too much noise when we're sleeping........... But I hear you about being under the pools. I don't want that, I'd rather keep my connecting than have that. Anything AFT of the aft elevators is in my range. As long as it's forward of 8090 and 8594 as that's when the solid verandas start. We were in 8092 once and I HATED the solid veranda. It was connecting and we didn't hear too much noise, except it did seem at time we had a soccer team next door, when the kids came back....... Also, considering i just booked 2 weeks ago, a GREAT room and AWESOME location!!!!!

I skipped through the old posts on this board...

What is FE? On our last cruise we "met" ppl on this forum and had a disboard meet. Is an FE similar to that? Are we doing any kind of pins or magnets from the Disboard group?

Someone on pg 27 said something about hanging out in Puerto Rico... Um... did I miss that stop on our itinerary?

Also, has anyone out there done this exact cruise before? I read about a great jewelry shop and beach... but I was wondering if there was any parasailing or zip-lining that anyone came across at any port...

Thanks!
Sophia

FE= Fish Extenders which are the placed outside cabins on the fish bin that holds mail from DCL. Cruisers put inexpensive gifts in the pockets of the FE's on different days and times of the cruise.

We just got back Thursday from our Celebrity Cruise and can't wait to get back on the Magic. We had a nice time, and if we wouldn't have just been on the Magic in Nov...it was hard not to compare the two. It was a lot of little things you notice, like their staff in the hallways not moving out of the way and expecting us to move, or them just walking by without that smile and saying a simple good morning. Our assistant server had some B/O issues as well as several other workers, that did jobs where they interacted with passengers. Of course there was only the one restaraunt to eat in each night, their specialty rest was $30 pp to eat in, and I wasn't that thrilled with the menu so we didn't try it. The nightly menu's also didn't thrill us. Our stateroom attendant was outstanding and took great care of us , so no complaints there at least. It was a nice getaway for my husband and I, and we did enjoy the time alone together, and that was what it was all about. I am not usually a complainer, so I fear Disney has spoiled us forever.

Hey...
We got our docs!!!! Woo Hoo!

On our last two cruises there was a Pirates of the Carribean party... does anyone know if the theme is different on this cruise?

Also, formal night... I saw the suits offered in the back of the book and we never noticed that before. Is it REALLY formal this year or what?

Last one... how can we get that countdown thing that I see on some peoples posts?

Thanks!
Sophia

1) They still have the Pirates of the Caribbean party

2) Some people dress formal, others dress up semi-formal and others are cruise casual;)

3) The countdown instructions are on post #570:thumbsup2

Welcome Aboard!

Hi Folks

Just wanted to drop in & say hello to those we'll be with in August!

We are Me (Mark) DW (Rachel) & DDs (Emily 12 & Lucie 10) & DS (Matt 6)..... we're from Nottingham England. We end up in Florida most years normally in a Villa.... discovered cruising a couple of years ago & have been spoilt by Disney. We'll be staying at Hard Rock Hotel at Universal for 4 days then another 4 in a Marriott vacation home before joining the cruise. From memory were in a cat 4 cabin on the deck 8 (had to book a cat 4 as there are 5 of us!)

Spookily, I saw Waltworshippers post above & my wife & I were on the same Celebrity cruise as them to Jamaica and Grand Camen last week - it really is a small world!!!!!!!

See everyone is getting their packs now ..... ours are getting shipped to the UK so guess it will take a bit longer to reach us!!

Before our last Disney cruise, I posted on DIS boards and my daughters made pen friends who they emailed before meeting on the ship. They are still in touch with them now.
If anyone has girls who are around their age who'd like to get in touch with my girls here in England then drop me a message. They both have their own email addresses and I'm happy to pass on their emails or get them to drop your girls an email.
They are both very sensible girls and will be happy to reply & keep in touch... they'll get excited to meet their friends in the clubs onboard!

Will keep watching and reading the thread & look forward to seeing everyone onboard.

Hope there are a couple of kids who'd like to get in touch with my girls

Cheers

Mark

My DD is 11 and will be be in OQ with your older daughter, she'd love a pen pal. Her name is Julianna and our email is jelbnl@gmail.com RunDanceSkate, you can also tell your DD to email her as well.

My daughter Ally will be 10 in September- she would love to be pen pals with Lucie. I will post the email in the next message. (I need one more post to be able to include an email address!!)
