August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

Our travel agent said that we had to have passports or a passport card this time. Mine is still good, but Matt didn't have one yet so he did his paperwork a few weeks ago. They do give you a website where you can track the progress online with your last name, birthdate and last 4 of your social, it's travel.state.gov--just in case anyone else is paranoid and double checks everything like me...

We are on a closed loop cruise, you don't need to have passports, just birth certificates. That said, we do have them in case of an emergency. You cannot leave a foreign port without them. So if something happened to anyone in your party in St Marteen, you would have a heck of a time trying to get back into the USA. I am a "better safe than sorry kind of person", so we got them last year before our cruise. My husband is finally becoming a citizen after 43 years in this country the first week of August(born in Poland came to USA at age 3). We will have to expedite his passport and pray we get it back in time,:scared1: as he will have to travel with it.

My DF and DM applied for their passports back in May. DF sent his hospital birth certificate instead of a certified state. The passport office processed my DM's passport and notified him after six weeks that he needed a birth certificate:scared1:

He expedited the request for a birth certificate and sent it off registered mail when he got it from the state. Fortunately he got his passport a week later:)

Thank God, he applied early:thumbsup2

I checked Kennedy Space Center's website and it states that the Shuttle Discovery is scheduled to launch on August 18th.

If the shuttle has any delays, it is likely that the early birds may get to see a shuttle launch before our cruise:confused3

That would be cool!!!:cool1:

Hi,
Does anyone know where I can find all of the information about how many sit-down meals each restaurant requires on the meal plan? I was wondering how many sit-downs Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge took- one or two.
Thanks, Katie:dumbo:

Artist Point requires 2 TS credits.

You can find a chart over on allearsnet.com

Hoping for smooth skies for them.

But if it would be delayed, anywhere in WDW to be able to see the shuttle in the sky? We arrive in WDW on the 18th. :goodvibes

On the topic of Walt Disney World...

Is anyone intersted in renting a boat for an afternoon of fun? We were looking at the boats available online from the resorts. We were thinking about a Boston Whaler or a Pontoon on Seven Seas Lagoon.

Let me know...

We will be in WDW from Aug 23 till we cruise on the 29th and would be interested in sharing a rental boat with you. Let me know when you will be there and what you were thinking as far as date, time etc....

Audrey

Our family (from Windsor Ontario) will be joining you. We have sailed once before but on the Western itinerary. We are looking forward to this cruise. Hope the weather is good.
Our group includes myself, DH and DD (11).
DD would like to e-mail another girl in the same age group prior to cruise if possible.

Sent you a PM with my DD11's email.

Hope you got it...

Scott

We missed a launch by 1/2 hour when we cruised in Nov, plane had to return to gate as something with the deicing system was not working. DH got out the phone, luckily there was a spare airplane(usually does not happen) and had us taking off within 2 hours. Pretty good turn around getting people and luggage off one plane and to another gate, then onto yet another airplane. It was a night launch, so we still thought we stood a chance of seeing it out the airplane windows, only the pilot was able to see it, the flameout happened before it got high enough for us to see, plus it was a little cloudy that night. We aren't down until the 27th, so we don't have a very good chance at seeing it.

Hi Audrey,

We're at Disney the same time as you. We wanted to rent a boat on Tuesday or Thursday. We're staying at WL. Where are you staying? We're a party of 3.

Hello Everyone

This our first cruise and we are excited. We have been reading here for a bit and took interest in the FE. Although we are still unclear on all the details we are interested. We would like to be added to the list if at all possible. This seems like it would be really fun especially for the kids. I think we still have a bunch more reading to do in order to figure it all out. We look froward to meeting many of you on the cruise. We will be in room 8556.

Hi,
What is the best way to use 2 table services for the Artist Point? Should I order off of the kid's menu and give my 2 table services to my parents? I'm 13, so if anyone has any ideas, that would really help, Katie

That's a good question. Are you on the adult meal plan or the kids meal plan?

:figment:I am on the adult meal plan because that is for people 10 and older. Does this help in figuring out the best way to get 2 table services for Artist Point? Katiefigment:

No problem, I will add you to the list. If you have questions, please ask, and if not me, someone else will be happy to answer anything you need to know about the FE.

This is being reposted as someone else has asked to join our FE group. Cigy7 is our newest member.

It looks like there are 31 families participating 58 adults and 62 kids. We have a nice diverse group, moms, dads, grandparents, kids of all ages and even a 3mos old little guy! We also have several birthdays that I know of including a couple of special ones, 2 sweet 16 girls and a 40th bday! If anyone else is celebrating anything just let me know. We have grown quite a bit since I took the list over at the beginning of the year!

FE List is now closed. As decided, the absolutely final list has been posted on Aug 9th. Can't wait to meet you all in a couple of weeks on the ship! :cool1:

Okay my first set of questions

I see that the days were posted for the FE. Now what exactly does it mean when your name is on a set day or on surprise ? I'm set as surprise will i also be assigned a day ? Do I deliver to every family ? Like I said this is all new to us. Thanks for including us in.

Up until June 21st I did assign people days and times to spread everyone out so we would get a few deliveries a day. If their name is on a day and time, they will deliver to the cabins on the list on that day and timeframe. Since then anyone who has joined has been given an any time delivery, which simply means, you deliver to all the cabins, any day, any time that you have the time. Probably half the people on the list would want that option, but they were assigned days and times so everyone didn't deliver on a sea day and we would get an even amount of deliveries throughout the week. Since we have 5 deliveries on sea days and 3 or 4 on most port days, I have just let anyone joining late deliver whenever they want to. To answer your second question, yes you deliver to all families on the list. Since we are past the June 21st date(original cut off that would guarantee you delivery from everyone), you may not get deliveries from every family, I have had quite a few reply that they had enough extras for anyone joining late, I definitely do, as well as my stepson, but can't guarantee that everyone will, since we don't hear from a lot of the people on the list(not regulars on the boards, just want to do FE), especially the closer it gets to the cruise. Some people have ordered things, or bought supplies to make things, and if they run out, they may not have time to get more, or to make more of whatever they are doing. Personally, we hadn't had anyone join in a few weeks, so I made my bags with a couple of extra. I now am getting some more things, as I want to make sure I have enough to cover everyone who wants to be involved. In the last couple of days we have had 2 more join, with several others asking about it.
As far as the actual gift, we set no spending limit, that way any family could participate at a level they were comfortable spending, it is not about the cost, but the fun we have all week getting our little gifts, some families will spend more, some less, but it is the thought that goes into the gift that counts, not what was spent. The gifts themselves can be anything such as candy, postcards, something unique from where you live, anything disney, homemade scrapbook pages, picture frames, the list goes on and on, just use your imagination. You can deliver one per cabin, one for every person in the cabin, one just for the kids, or I have 1 gift bag for the adults in the room to share and one for each child in the room, it is totally up to you.

This part of the note is more for anyone else out there thinking about it. The absolute last day we will take anyone to join is Aug 9th, so I hope anyone else trying to decide whether to join or not lets us know soon, the earlier the better.

Hope this helps, please ask away if there is anything else you need to know. I check these boards a few times a day, so I usually will get back to you pretty quick.
