August 29, 2016 4 night Bahamian on Disney Dream

Super Excited for our first family cruise! We will be celebrating my son's bday! He is also super excited and thinks Mickey will be driving the boat!

Is it too late to join the FE? 2nd time Disney Cruisers here with our 5 & 4 year old.

Welcome @lisaabbo ! No you are not too late to join. Please visit this link and read through the FE requirements. http://www.disboards.com/threads/fe-thread-disney-dream-29th-august-2016.3488978/ If you have any questions, just ask. Now, as you only have 2 posts (at the time of this message) you cannot use the PM function, as the board requires users to have a minimum post count of 10 before that feature becomes available. If you do not want to share your information publicly in the FE thread, as many don't, then simply register your interest, start working on your post count, and I will PM you when you hit 10 and PMs are available. Good luck!

Wow - only two posts? That is so surprising, since this is my second Disney Cruise! It looks like I was last logged in two years ago. I better get posting!

Hi all, not long now until our first Disney cruise :)

I've only stumbled across this page today so look forward to having a proper read of it and the cruise forum.

From what I've been reading it doesn't sound like people get dressed up for dinner, is that right?

All of our previous cruises have been with Royal Carribean and have had formal nights, I do enjoy getting dressed up but don't want to feel over dressed.

What are others planning for evening wear? (We'll be dining in the main dining room each night)

Dining in the main dining rooms (MDR) on Disney cruises are less formal than other cruises, but there is still a dress code, it's just not as strict. Castaway Cay day it will be pirate night on board, so people usually dress up in pirate costumes for dinner. There is also a formal evening where you can get dressed up if you want but it's optional. The rest of the time it's pretty casual. As long as shoulders, midriffs and feet are covered you are pretty good to go.

I found this board while searching through Pinterest. My 4year old daughter and I are taking our first vacation together, first cruise for each of us, first Disney adventure...we are super excited. We'd love to join the exchange! I'll take some time tonight to read all the previous posts.

Hi @CaliGirls, welcome to the cruise thread and the DisBoards! The FE group closes at the end of the week and you can find details in this thread http://www.disboards.com/threads/fe-thread-disney-dream-29th-august-2016.3488978/ . As a new member to the board you will need 10 posts to activate your private messages which is where we will be sharing the FE list. Feel free to ask questions in this thread about our cruise, in this forum about cruise in general or head to the test board where you can bump up your post count (you'll be at 10 in no time). In the meantime happy reading and look forward to hearing from you soon. :-)

Welcome to the group. Make sure you have a good read of the general cruise threads, as you will get lots of hints and tips for your trip! Do you have any specific plans for the cruise yet? Any excursions or anything?

This is my husband and my honeymoon cruise and is our first cruise together in general. Also, my parents will be joining the cruise but in a different stateroom. We will also be celebrating my husbands (Aug 25) and my dads birthday (Sept 7) on the cruise. I want to surprise my husband and my parents with fish extenders. But I'm not sure how it works. Can someone explain it to me? Thank you.

August 29 2016 Disney Dream cruise 4 day.

My husband and I- stateroom 6072, Jose (Cars) and Krystal (Lion King).

My parents - stateroom 10533, Henry (Peter pan) and Amelia (Minnie mouse)

I just wanted to get this thread started for the cruise. I'm very excited! This will not only be the first Disney cruise I will have been on but my only cruise! My fiancé and I will be getting Married on Castaway Cay! I am interested in doing FE and I am hoping to find others on the cruise that are also interested!

Congratulations! My husband and I are celebrating our honeymoon too! So excited for the cruise!

No problem! You still have a few days. Ask a few questions, reply to people and you will be there in no time.

As for the door decorations, I have never heard any rules about what you can and cannot put on the doors in terms of pictures/characters/etc. The only rule I am aware of is that anything on your door must be magnetic - you cannot use any form of adhesive, even the so called 'quick remove, leave no marks' stuff!

My second question: how are meals handled on the excursions? I know on Disney island, it's taken care of but what about when we dock in Nassau?

As you say, Castaway Cay day is taken care of on shore, with an awesome barbeque. As for the Nassua day, that will depend on the type of excursion you have planned. Some full-day excursions have lunch included in the schedule. If it is a half day excursion, then generally you return to the ship to eat, but it all depends. For example, on our last cruise, we did the semi-sub tour in Nassua. We left the ship about 9am and returned about 1pm, maybe a bit later. We just headed up to Cabanas for a late lunch. You could also head to the pool deck fast food places for lunch.

Thanks! I've been doing so much reading on Disney cruises that I may have gotten mixed up.

Thanks again! I didn't plan any excursions for Nassau. My 4 year old isn't into many of the listed activities so I figured I'll play it by ear. Now I know to stay close to the ship.

On our last cruise, we did, as mentioned, the semi-sub in Nassau and kayaking on Castaway Cay, and felt we missed out on boat time/CC time. So this time, we are doing a ship day in Nassau, and then just doing the 5K on Castaway before getting to really enjoy the island! I think we are planning to do Mid Ship Detectives Agency during Nassau day or maybe go to the cinema! :)

That looks really awesome! Now I have an idea of what to do. My daughter is going to have so much fun with this!
