August 29, 2012 4 Night Bahamian Cruise

Hello all,
just wanted to introduce myself- I'm traveling with my DH and my 10 other extended family members. It is my (and DH) first cruise and I am super excited. Hopefully we can get to the cruise without me driving my DH crazy and with out my extended family driving me crazy!

I'm sure you will have a great time. This is my first DCL cruise, but i've cruised on other lines often. I think a cruise is the best type of vacation to take with extended family -- you are able to spend some time with them, like at dinner. But there are lots of things that you can find to do on your own when you need a little break... :-)

Welcome to the cruise and welcome to the DISboards! :goodvibes

Must be fun to travel with so many other family members. Cruising on the Disney DREAM is so much fun, I am sure you are going to love it. :thumbsup2

FE:
I guess I am in charge of the list for our cruise and since you asked I put you on the list right away. ;)

To put you on the online list I would need everyone's first names, the kids' ages and your stateroom number.
Shortly before we leave for our vacation we will upload maps of all the decks with the staterooms marked, so it will be easier to find them on the cruise. :

Thank you!! So excited about this! It will be Laura, Rob, Matthew (16) and Katie (13). I will look up the stateroom number and get that to you :)

I showed my 13 year old daughter the photos of some of the fish extenders and she is excited to do this. Just wondering what types of things people usually put in them? And do we only do it once so we would just need to put a gift in each stateroom's bags one time during the cruise?

Does anyone know if there is a facebook page/group for this cruise? I couldn't find one in a search. Would anyone be interested in a facebook page if one is already not created?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I already updated our online list! :thumbsup2

Dizneeat

Just wanted to say thank you for organizing the FE!!!

You are very welcome! :goodvibes

Yes, thank you Dizneeat!

I'm new to cruising and to the DISboards and trying to figure all of this out :)

You are very welcome! :goodvibes
You chose the right cruise line for your first cruise. ;) Disney knows how to do it.
And if you have any questions just ask - I am sure someone will be around to help out! :thumbsup2

The fish extenders are so much fun. :thumbsup2
What you put into them depends entirely on you. We got all sorts of gifts, from pens to pirate gear to magnets and stationary and postcards, personalized things like shopping bags ...... there are millions of things. If you intend on doing some homemade gifts there is a whole thread!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2907032&highlight=homemade+fe+gifts

This is actually the second part of a thread, but the link to the first one is in the first post.
Sweets are something you will always find in a FE. People have given things that represent their country, their home town and so on.
As for delivery - again, that is up to you.
Tom and I hand out gifts once a day. We find it more fun to find lots of little gifts over the time of the cruise instead of one big gift. Makes coming back to the stateroom even more fun.
We do mostly homemade gifts and personalize most of them.
Well, again - it is up to you! :goodvibes

dizneat

We are in stateroom #7616

Rob, Laura, Matthew (16) and Katie (13)

Thank you!!!

Updated the stateroom as well! :thumbsup2

I guess I won't be any help with facebook, as Tom and I are not on facebook.

I'm okay either way!

Inching closer and closer to the day!

I just thought that maybe we would find more that were going to be on the cruise but I dont care either way. Just wonderrd what you all thought.

Okay... last question about the Fish Extender, I promise, lol!!

Does the gift have to actually FIT in the pocket/bag? And if it does not, where do you leave it?

Thanks :)

This is my first FE (and cruise!), but from what I've read, the gifts can be any size. I've seen posts where people ask the room attendant to put the gifts in the room, and also where people take along bags and put them on the door/fish hanger.

I'm making (mostly) smaller sized things simply because of flying and luggage.

You can ask as many questions as you want! :goodvibes
We have done MANY FEs and so far it was always easiest to have a gift that fits into the extender.
The more it "sticks out" the higher the chance it might go "missing". ;) :lmao:
If your gift is larger than the FE pocket than maybe you could put it in a bag and hang it on the door.
I am not sure if having the stateroom host put it in the room is a good idea. They have breaks too and you never know who belongs to which stateroom. Tom and I often deliver in the evening (after dinner) and there are not many stateroom hosts around.

Asking the stateroom host might work, but they are not always around. So depending on when you "deliver" your gift that might not be an option.
We are with you - we have smaller gifts, especially since we have to fly overseas for 4 weeks and are limited for space. But then we deliver a small gift every day! :thumbsup2

Thank you!! This will be a lot of fun!!

It definitely will be a lot of fun. :goodvibes

For anyone who has a smart phone there is a fun cruise countdown app. Its called Shipmate

Glad you found it too! It is really nice! :goodvibes

@dizneeat I don't see us listed on the details FE list. Would you like my info again?

Thank you for your comments and all of your help, can't wait to meet! Hoping to find a few more who are sailing on our dates to add to our list :)

I am very sorry - my mistake!
I did put you on the list, but completely forgot to upload it - I can only blame it on the last two weeks of school being extremely busy. Sorry again, but you should be on the list now.
If there are any mistakes in it, please let me know. :goodvibes
