August 28, 2010 Pirates of the Barbary Coast - 11 nights in the Mediterranean

Just got a notice from Air Tran that our flights to WDW in May have already been changed. There was good news and bad news. The bad news is that we will be arriving in Orlando at 11:52 am, instead of 10:45 am. But the good news is that we can leave home a bit later and our layover in Atlanta went from 30 minutes to 53 minutes. I was really nervous about making that connection. This sounds a bit safer.

Karen, I knew I should have stayed away from Facebook. My grandson asked if I would have a farm and be his neighbor. So I open one over the weekend. Well today I was home sick with a horrible cold and I can't stay away from my farm. And now I have a cafe too. This is crazy!

It is! It is! The problem with all those games is that you create fields, food, animals, etc. that take so long to mature or complete before you can sell them. If you wait too long they go rotten. So they sucker you into coming back in so many hours to sell your food, crops, animals, etc. I've never known a pot roast to take 2 days. I bought it last night. Now I have to come back tomorrow to sell it!

Wow! I just saw that DCL and WDW are selling Mickey Mouse Dooney and Bourke purses. They have pictures on a thread on the cruise board. I really want one. Now to decide whether I should ask for one for Mother's Day or our anniversary. We will be at WDW the week prior to Mother's Day and our anniversary is right before the cruise. Hmmm..... Hard decision. I probably should get it at WDW if they have it. By August DCL may not be carrying it anymore. But I always get a couple bottles of perfume from the WS when we are at WDW in May. Wish me luck I might try to get both!

OMG I hope not!!! 33 days later and I still have a slight cough and the occasional sneeze!!! I'm taking echinacea and vitamin C tablets which have definitely helped. Fingers crossed you recover quickly, Eva.

Yes I saw that thread. Funnily enough, my friend's just received one she bought from eBay - it's lovely!!! Looks like everyone's slightly different...

I say get one in WDW for Mother's Day. Who's to say what merchandise we'll be left with in the Med - plus you might see something fabulous in one of the lovely Italian boutiques, I know I'll be on the lookout...

I think I like the one that is on that thread. It will look great with jeans and capris in the summer. A nice Italian leather bag sounds pretty good too. You may be right about getting the Mickey bag in WDW. One less thing to drag back from Europe.

I am definitely buying my Autumn/Winter bag from one of the Italian designer stores whilst we're on the cruise. I have two weaknesses - designer sunglasses and handbags (that's purses to you, Eva!) and I usually buy an English brand called Mulberry. However, I feel that Prada or Gucci or Fendi might be calling in September...

Hi Eva - an extra set of eyes looking out for deals is definately appreciated! I'm really hoping that the deal they have out for the early Med cruises gets extended to the later ones ($50/per night/per person for a cat 12).

At this moment I'm looking at just getting on the ship....it will probably be just me....I've mentioned this cruise to my parents and while they seem interested, it may be too much of a flight for my mom (they live in Argentina). I may need to suggest flying to the States to my sister's house (to see the grandkids) then to Europe, and another break in the States before heading back to Buenos Aires (that could work).

If it ends up being just me....I'm good w/ a cat 12 (or 11). If it's with my parents I'll probably want a cat 6.

Only thing I know I definately want to do (excursion wise) is in Naples - I want to go to the Archeological museum (did Pompeii and Herculano last time I was there).

DH and I did the ABD Viva Italia tour fall of 2008. It was wonderful and I would highly recommend doing an ABD. But I do not feel that the $2,399 fee per person to add this to the cruise is really worth the money. I understand that the excursions will have actual CM's and that there will be special events onboard for those who participate. But I am still having a tough time jutifying the cost.

For DH and I it would cost $4,798. Even if we took some of the most expensive DCL excursions we wouldn't come close to that cost. Plus we would like to have a bit of free time at some of the ports. We are doing private excursions in two ports and are bugeting $200 per port for any lunches and extras that are not covered on excursions and we are still under $2,000 total. I can sure use the $2,800 on other things.

Like leather handbags! Right Karen?
