August 28, 2004 "LOST AT SEA" Cruise

I am so sorry to hear this. I will be keeping your husband and your family in my prayers. Please let us know how he is doing.

Darlene - I'm so glad the doctors have a plan and that the transfusions are working! So often men suffer in silence and then we are so caught off guard. If he was walking around with only 1/3 the amount of blood he should have had he must have been feeling really lousy and didn't let on. Now I know I'm not in the closest of proximity to you, but I'm at exit 9 off the NJTPK and I will help you in anyway that I can. Please contact me if there is anything I can do. I sending prayers to Stan & you & Sandy. How is Sandy? :grouphug:

Darlene:

What hospital is Stan in? I can't say enough good things about the University of Pennsylvania.

Bob had two close calls and had to be flown to University of Penn, one time from Kennedy Hospital and the other from Virtua West Jersey. They are update on the most recent treatments available.

If you need anything I don't think I live that far from you, just let me know.

Lyn

Darlene:

My family's thoughts and prayers are with you. I sent you a PM. Please call on us if you need anything....

Cathy, Bob & Emily

You are all wondeful! Thank you.
Good news - they let Stan come home today. He had a choice of staying in and completing pre-surgery testing and building up his blood or coming home and doing it. He's such a MAN. He needed to come home and take care of things before surgery. I thought he should stay in. But I have to admit that I am thrilled to have him home. He actually has some color. Surgery will be scheduled in Virtua West Jersey-Voorhess. That is where the surgeon is associated.
I have to tell you how much I love this man and how scary yesterday was. Thank you all for your prayers.

I can't imagine how scary it's been for you and your family :( I am glad that Stan is home though, I bet he feels better being in his own home. I don't live close enough to be of any practical help :( but if I can do anything long-distance, I would be more than happy to. Like everyone else has said, feel free to "talk" to us here. *hugs*

Darlene, I am so sorry to hear about Stan. When will he have his surgery? Is there anything we can do? My husband is an Occupational Therapist, and often sees people after they leave the hospital. I don't know if you will have one, but he can answer any medical questions. He helps people get back to doing everyday things and modifing their environment so that they can function indepentantly. Some people have them after cancer treatments start and some do not need them. We will be here for you, and like I said you can ask John anything. I live in philly so that I am not far.

Thank you so much. I will remember your offer if we need that kind of care. Everyone is so kind and supportive. I don't want to take over this thread with updates so I will post when anything significant new happens. I may PM some of you for my own sanity!Who would have thought that I would need you all more after than cruise than before? Bless you all.

Terry,
Thanks for "being there".

I called DCL about rebooking after the cruise and they told me I wouldn't receive the discount or the stateroom credit eventhough the desk was closed the last night. They did give me an email address to write to and see if they will overturn their decision. I am awaiting their response.

Lyn:confused:

We called DCl and so far have gotten mixed answers...

We called all Seas travel yesterday, and they told us they would be cheaper...

Will let you know when we get the rates next month..

I'm waiting to see what All Seasons will have, too. When we booked this cruise that we just took, a year ago, they had the best rates by far, along with great customer service.

Darlene,

You, Stan and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. I hope his surgery and recovery goes smoothly.

We are waiting until 2006 fares come out. I would use All Season's Travel again in a heartbeat. They were great. Darlene, I think most of us would love to hear frequent updates as we are all concerned. Pixie Dust to infinity. As I said, any help, please let me know.

I agree with you on both accounts,

Darlene...We would love frequent updates, we are all very concerned.

I think it may be close in price with All Seas, to hold onto my $1,000 until 2005 may be worth giving up the 10% and $200 credit.

What do you all think

Joanna

Bobby & Terry:

I will check with All Seasons also. I will book with DCL to get the 10% and $200 room credit, that is if they let me and if All Seasons is cheaper I will switch. I used them this cruise also.

I am still looking for someone to book my Carnival through so far I found a company on line CCL reservations and they are $500 cheaper than the Carnival site. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Lyn

Joanna:

We are going June 26th next year out of Tampa and so far the cheapest site I found is
(cclreservations.com) and I compared their prices to Carnival.com.
