August 28, 2004 "LOST AT SEA" Cruise

Lyn, Marty and I took Carnival PARADISE for our honeymoon 2 yrs ago. It was purely "PARADISE". but compared to DISNEY.. it was the slums.... Our room was not bad. Since MARTY is such a picky eater,, I think they were frustrated by his food requests. We only ate the formal dinners 3 times. On DCL they were so accomadating. The entertainment was R rated at night in the adult only area. They do have an adult only area pool,, which included a topless deck,,,,(obviously not for me), and midnight buffets.
We did the WESTERN that included JAMAICIA,, I loved that part the best. We did DUNNS RIVER FALLS and it was the most thrilling thing I did since my back injury. It was amazing that I was able to climb those cassading waterfalls with ease.. (and the guide of course). It was less expensive than DCL.. but DCL does it right..

Ok everyone. Those that met my sister KAREN have to encoureage her to write here. SHE IS LURKING!!!. She tells me the updates before I get a chance to look at the boards. She said she is afraid,,lol. KAREN KAREN KAREN KAREN!!!!

DARLENE:WE WANT UPDATES OFTEN>> not a burden at all...

Doreen

KAREN........OH KAREN..........Are you hiding out their in cyberspace? Come out and play with us!!!!!

Darlene - I find myself thinking about you guys all the time, please give us frequent updates and please let Stan & Sandy know that we are all think of them & praying.

I booked 11/05 for two people and put down a $500 deposit for the 10% + $200. If All Seas has better rates for 2006 when they are released, then I would definitely switch to them. I used them for this cruise and everything went smoothly.

We are making a trip to the CITY and need some hotel ideas.. My moms husband will be 81 and never sw the BIG APPLE. I ahve stayed at the PENTA, and at Terrytown. But I thought I would try closer to MANHATTEN again, if not in the heart of it. We will drive down so I need a place for parking as well(SAFE) There will be 4 adults and 2 kids. 2 rooms for 1-2 nights on Columbus weekend. Jaclyn has a game Saturday so we will get to NYC about 6 pm or so..
ANY IDEAS?????

UPDATE
Thanks for asking. Stan is scheduled for surgery on Wed 9/29. The girl in the surgeon's office said the Doc made her find a date as soon as possible for him. He told her that the man has a 7 yr old and we need to get him better and home.

Sandy had an asthma attack today at school. Had to run over with the inhaler. Fortunately I work 2 blocks from her school. She knows her daddy is sick but doesn't have an understanding of it all of course. But I have to think that her attack today is someway related.

We have a peace right now with the level of care that he is receiving. Praying that nothing shows in the lymphnodes. Please keep Stan in your prayers. We have already seen the Hand of God in this situation. He took care of us before we even knew that we needed it. I met all you nice people, didn't I? As well as many other things that were put in motion before we needed it and are now in place.

Thanks,
Darlene

Sandy my thoughts and prayers are still with you.

Reenieny - I live in the big apple. Personally, I'd pick a hotel on the east side around the mid 30's. If you think Disney is expensive, think at a minumum a moderate at full rate.

That said, if you are getting in Saturday evening, what about a Broadway show; not cheap but a must do. Lion King should have tickets available.

Sunday; - I'd get up early and take the subway (very safe! don't listen to others) down to see the Satue of Liberty; moving midtown the Empire State Buidling is a must do (Ok, OK, I worked down the street from it and actually went into it once - with my son's 2nd grade class). From there, I'd take a nice slow long walk down 5th ave to around 55th Street - The World of Disney will be open by then and hey, if anything is a must do that is. One the way you'll pass St. Pat's, loads of stores and plenty of places to eat.

Once down by The Disney Store; how about a carriage ride through Central Park; again safe.

Monday; depending on what time you are leaving, I would take one of the bus tours (or you could do this on Saturday and leave Sunday for Central Park and The World of Disney Store).

Lots to do, not all of it has to be expensive.

What exactly are you interested in seeing?

How about a DIS smoothie meet in your hotel in NYC.

I agree with Mary Anne... if you can get tickets to a show on short notice.. Lion King is AMAZING.

Ginny

sandygirl: Thanks for the update. I've been thinking about all of you and hoping that things were going well. I'm glad you've got a surgery date soon. You have our continued thoughts and prayers, and please don't ever hesitate to post, ok?? :) How is Sandy feeling this afternoon??

I'd LOVE to spend a weekend in NYC!! I was just thinking of doing this, last week. I haven't been in the city in several years, since I used to live in NJ. How about a girls' weekend in NYC? :) Anyone up for that? I doubt I can get DH or DSs interested in doing it, but I'd love to :) I would love to see the Lion King on Broadway, too.

Darlene:

Thanks for the update on Stan. I have been thinking about him all weekend. Keep up a positive attitude I feel that has a lot to do with a good recovery. My dad had lung cancer and they removed his lung eventhough the cancer had spread we kept positive thoughts and he had a good outcome. With all the prayers for Stan I am sure everything will be fine.

Karen:

My friend why are you lurking? You are supposed to be posting right along with us.

Doreen:

Thanks for the info on Carnival. I booked today with ccl out of Tampa, the itinerary is basically the same one we had on the last cruise with the addition of Belize(Grand Cayman, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Belize City).
I got a great rate for a French Door Balcony stateroom of $3068 for the 3 of us. My friends who are traveling with us have 4 people and their rate was $3803.

I still have not heard back from DCL about our 2006 reservation and discount. Does anyone know what week we were thinking about and are we doing the Eastern for sure?

Lyn

Darlene...I'm so happy Stan got a date so soon. As a surgical Coordinator myself, I know it's not that easy. I thought about you all day, please keep us posted.

Karen...Karen is a stalker, Karen is a stalker, whats up with that Karen, you talked to us in person and now you stalk us? Now just register yourself and start talking to us before you give us a complex or make us paranoid.

I would like to go Eastern in 2006. As late in August as possible without going the week before Labor Day.

NYC, I think my DH would also like to go, he has a 50th birthday coming up in December and we are thinking about going to Atlantic City (without the kids) to celebrate. Anyone up for that?

Approx. December 18 in NYC. Although 12/18 is also my B-day (not 50 :)) the weekend I would like is 12/11 but that is our office Christmas party and if I miss it again they will be pissed. So 12/4 or 12/18

Let me know what you all think.

Joanna

Thanks for all the advice..I have been to NYC before and yes, I feel safe doing the subways... I was looking more for HOTEL NAMES. They seem to be all booked. Its Columbus weekend though.

You guys are funny about KAREN,lol quilt her into talking here,,lol
HMM a weekend get away,, Who would take my kids to all their functions????
Lynn I just talked to DCL and asked about Grand Caymen. she said a few more weeks before DCL goes back there. They are going to Costa Maya instead in the meantime. CG still exists but it is not very clean according to DISNEY.

Karen is on the phone with me now.. she is so sorry that she is lurking and will get on here soon and talk to you all... she misses and loves you all. Lyn, she wants to know if you want more company on your next cruise?? lol. MArty Rose and Joanna,, you made her laugh she peed her pants,,lol She had a bad week at work ,, and needs your humor BADLY....

Thanks
Doreen

Hey Karen, get online here so we can talk about nail polish!! :teeth: I have a new "OPI Canadian Collection" color on right now called "Don't Worry, YUKON do it!", my next nail appt is on Wednesday :wave2:

Hello Everyone...

My Birthday is December 22...

Lets do something...Atlantic City sounds good..

Doreen...Let me know when you are coming to NYC....We would love to meet for dinner.....I can also help you out around town..Remember I drive a truck in NYC...

Darlene, Glad to hear Stan is doing a little better....We pary for a speedy recovery..

Bobby and Cindy

Atlantic City is practically down the road from us. If you get together in Dec, let us know. I'm counting on the fact that Stan will be up and running by then. We would love to celebrate with you.

Doreen - they just added some performance dates for Lion King in NYC. Sorry, can't help with hotel names. Have a wonderful time!

Joanna - I didn't know that you were a surgical coordinator. The girl we spoke with today was really nice. She did alot of work to get Stan scheduled. You have a very important job. She made my life so much easier by coordinating insurance and pre-op instructions and prescriptions and finding a surgery slot.

Terry - What in the world shade of nail polish is "Don't Worry Yukon Do It"? I'm picturing yellow because the only thing I know about the Yukon is the yellow potato. Tell me before I go nuts!
Sandy felt better when I picked her up from school. She has some awesome After-Care teachers and they will watch her closely for a few days. Her classroom teacher leaves something to be desired, unfortunately.

Karen - sorry to hear you had a bummer week at work. Come out and play with us and feel better!

Lyn - thanks for your encouraging words.
Darlene

Darlene...I am going to hold you AND Stan to celebrating Mitch's 50th with us in Atlantic City.

That is exactly what I do Darlene, everything you just mentioned. It is a fast paced job, but people appreciate what you do for them. So its worth it.

Karen...Are you still stalking us?

Hi guys... Bob and I are only about 1 hour from AC so let us know when the plans are set. we'd love to see you all again and celebrate Mitch's 50th and Stans recovery!!!

With regard to the picture drama we had here.. it looks like were gonna have to pay between $500-1000 to have the hard drive restored. Even though the data loss is because of information a Dell technician gave Bob - they are taking no responsibility. Bob and I agree that the pictures alone are worth that much to us so were gonna pack it up and ship it off this week and hope that we are part of the 90% success rate this company has.

Have a good day guys!

Darlene: Hehehe, no it's not yellow! It's actually a deep shimmery plum color. OPI chooses some really odd names for their nail polishes, I'd like to the meet the person who's job it is. :p

I'm glad that Sandy felt better yesterday afternoon. My sister and my son have asthma, so I know all too well how scary it can be sometimes. *hugs*

Ginny...It will be great if we all could get together in Atlantic City. That stinks that they wouldn't even split the price with you, are you happy with your Dell? my kids have one and they complain that it is to slow. Well good luck and I hope you are successful in retrieving your pics.

Karen:

Welcome to the boards thanks for coming out from lurking. I also enjoyed meeting you and spending time together. Can't wait until our next cruise that we can all get together again.

I can't believe that you enjoy Disney so much and have not posted on the boards before. You are going to love it here.

Talk to you soon.

Lyn:sunny:

Lynn - Yes I am a Disney Fanatic. Charter annual pasholder. I am trying to plan a weekend trip down there jsut by myself. The air fare rates are cheap out of Norfolk, VA and they are non-stop which I prefer. I am still going thru withdrawl. I can never get enough of Disney. ::MinnieMo :wave2:
