Got quite the starter pin collection going for the kids now! Go Ebay Who's the collector? I forget, sorry. Might need a quick pin trading for dummies course for the 5 and 8 year old at the sail away party.

Any packing advice....feeling overwhelmed...

Any packing advice....feeling overwhelmed...

I think the pin collectors are Gichicdoc and myself. I went to mousepinsonline and got a bag of cheap pins for trading with CMs (I don't think a real collector would want these, although they are official Disney trading pins- they are not as nice as the pins in the stores) The store CMs are really very patient and helpful when it comes to the kids trading. This may seem obvious , but make sure your kids know that if you buy them that $12+ pin in the store that they are not to trade that one for the one on a CM lanyard.

Very easy to overpack. Alot of the things on packing lists are used by some and regarded as useless by others. Since we are going during official hurricane season it would be wise to include some sea sickness meds. Also headache, tummy ache meds with all the overeating that is likely to happen
I would like to add that we didn't need the over the door shoe holder for space as much for a central location to put small items. We brought walkie talkies and did use them a couple of times. What else... I think the FAQ thread has an extensive list. (Don't forget sunscreen and some aloe vera gel for when you get burned anyway )

Don't expect to wear new sandals or flip flops on an excursion or CC. Blisters can really put a damper on your good time

Very good and thorough list Mrs Scooby. Since we were just on a cruise in June and didn't need any new clothes we went out shopping and bought more. Hard to resist 75% off at JC Penneys. I even bought a snorkle, mask, fins, and the mesh bag for $12.00.

Still no docs. boo hoo!

DD is an avid pin collector. She (we) have learned many useful tips to pin collecting over the last few years and I am sure she will be happy to bestow these on you and yours at the sail-away party. I've watched her with younger kids (she's now 13) and it is very sweet; she really wants them to see the "magic" in this collecting activity and will often part with a favorite pin to share her joy with a younger trader. That said, she can be quite shrewd with adult traders--go girl !!!

[Daytona Cruisers]

We are so excited. The weather in Florida has been really hot, but the wind is constantly blowing, so all you need is a dip in some water and the cool breeze. We dodged T.S. Chris, and are praying for smooth seas.

Our tickets arrived on Thursday! Thanks for the news about the shuttle launch. Here we are locals and huge fans of the space program - and we didn't know about it. The shuttles fly right over our house, but up close is the best way to see them take off. We're looking forward to making new friends and spending quality time with our kids! Every moment will be a kodak moment for me. I just wish we could freeze time. Perhaps the Bermuda Triangle will take us all on an extended vacation!

How does everyone feel about the DIS meet timing ? 3:00 in one of the lounges or at the Sail-Away Party at 4:30 ? Possible rain or a shuttle launch favor the lounge at 3:00 versus the party atmosphere on deck at 4:30?

I'll be wearing my blue green lei at boarding so not unlikely will see some of you ahead of time anyway Also going to check by pool for that Minnie DIS meet (I forgot, who suggested that ? )

Still looking for our walkie talkies- not going to let DS check out of club without them.

I guess I'm favoring the earlier sail away party now that there's a chance of the Atlantis going up at 4:30. No one will want to miss that! Since we're newbies I can't really suggest where the get together should take place.

Let's keep a tally on these leis:

I checked that other thread on DIS meets and 3 pm in the Promenade Lounge seemed popular

Not a major time commitment. We can meet up, match names to faces and maybe arrange to meet up again at wine tasting or "Match Yor Mates" (funny adults only show) or Bingo. Just some suggestions.

Either way it is fun to run into people you recognize during the cruise

Hi everyone--

We got our cruise documents today --Yea

I think the 3pm meeting in a lounge (Promenade?) sounds great. It's likely that all will be on board by then and we can always move it outside if we like.

I had suggested the "Minnie meet" on an earlier post. I am still trying to arrange our travel from the resort (AK) to the port but we would like to also do the Minnie (mini) meet by the pool if there is time before to get the younger ones together and talk/share pin tips. I think this should be a running time (i.e. if you are around, come by the goofy pool and look for our group).

It might help to post a picture of ourselves ahead to give a clue?

At least we got our tickets for Universal Studios and Hard Rock Hotel for after the cruise.
