I heard there is a Pirate night or something like that. Does anyone have more information on that? I also heard there is a semiformal night. Any info on that? Wasn't sure if this is standard for all cruises or not.

I'm assuming this is your first cruise. Yay!!!! I can pretty much guarantee you'll have an awesome time. Yes, there is a pirate night, a semi-formal night, and a formal night on 7-day cruises.

You can dress up or not for pirate night. We as a family dressed up for our first cruise and since then have since decided on only our daughter dressing up if she wants to. I'm not a big fan of costumes anyway. Every cruise is different, some times we see tons of people dressed up, other times hardly anyone.

In my experience, you will see a wide variety of dressing up levels at both the semi-formal and formal nights. Also in my experience, Disney only seems to make a big deal out of dressing appropriately in the adult-only restaurants. My family and I will dress up according to the requirements of the evening.

I have an 8 year old daughter and a 12 year old daughter. I am sure either or both would love corresponding with your daughter. They are both trying to meet some of the girls they will be hanging out with on the cruise. And yes it is our first cruise. I am not one for costumes or really dressing up especially on a cruise in the summer. I understand the adult only restaurants and my husband and I may try one of those. Thanks for the information.

Would your daughter be interested in corresponding with mine (who will be 10 at cruise time)????????

We have 3 kids who at time of sailing will be DD12, DD10 and DS6

Its gonna be a great cruise. The kids are thrilled that they may miss the first couple days of school. It all depends on the school schedule which isn't out yet. There was a 30% price drop for this sailing compared to previous weeks so I couldn't resist picking this one.

Just landed at MCO ...heading over on Magical Express to the resort. Two days here then our four night Dream cruise. Just a little appetizer.

My oldest daughter is 12 and looking for penpals so she can meet some of the girls ahead of time. If your daughter would be interested send me a PM and we can get them hooked up.

I have done some reading but could someone explain this? It sounds like it may differ each time.

I am not sure if you saw this post below or not but I think it gives you an idea of what we are going to do.

So here is the info on theFISH EXTENDER EXCHANGE:fish:

If you are not sure what a Fish Extender Exchange is here is a brief outline
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33184281&postcount=2

1.Let me know on this thread or by PM if your group wants to join us
2.Some participants might want to personalize gifts for each group or each family so include your family name, your kids names and ages and your names, either on this thread or to me by PM
3. If we get more than 20 cabins participating I will split the cabins into 2 groups, we want this to be fun not a burden.
4. I suggest one gift per stateroom as the norm, doing something for each person is lovely but not expected, again let's not make it a burden (and think of luggage space)
5. If we split into 2 groups I will split up the cabins by area on the ship so there will be less travelling (possibly forward and aft)
6. Each cabin will be assigned a day to deliver, if you can't make it on that day it is fine, it might even out the fun a bit.
7. You can let me know by PM what you are planning to give if you think it may be repeated by someone else, not mandatory but a good idea.
8. June 1 2012 we will close the FE, any groups wanting to join after that date will be put together to come up with their own group.
9. I will keep a running list of participants on the front page of this thread under the list of cruisers, after June 1 a final list including groups will be made and sent out, along with delivery date.
10. If you think of anything else please lets talk about it:thumbsup2

We have done this on 2 cruises in the past and it adds so much to the trip. We have received such fun and beautiful gifts, and the kids LOVE it!! I hope you all enjoy it!!!

So far we have 15 families participating which is a nice managable number. If you have anyother questions please let me know.

We purchased a Fish Extender from Grady's Mommy a couple years ago on Ebay. They usually run around $30 - $40 depending on how many pockets you need. You can contact the seller and she will help you customize one if necessary. Ours has four pockets, top one for Mom & Dad (Missy & Jeff) and then individual pockets for Catherine, and Sarah, with an extra pocket for a guest.

I think we are on the FE list, if not please add us. We have staterooms 10578 and 10580. The FE will be hanging outside one of them.

In the past the Eastern Caribbean cruises have had 3 themed nights: formal, semi-formal, and pirate. Formal night is usually Sunday night, Tuesday night is pirate night, and Thursday is semi-formal.

Pirate night is subject to change based on the Captain's discretion. The pirate party is on deck which includes fireworks so this is a weather permitting event. If Tuesday is rainy then DCL might postpone the pirate party until Wednesday.

Formal night is a great night to get a family portrait. Rarely do you get the opportunity to dress up and get a nice family photo as you do on formal night.

Been quite a while sine I posted. It looks lime my son and his girl friend are not going to be able to join us but the rest of us plan to be on the cruise including 2 girls - one 8 and one who will just have turned 9. They'd love to meet some of the others their age. On our last cruise one of them was with us and ended up having a great time with 2 other girls her age on the cruise. They are still friends.

We also want to participate in the FE
Here are our rooms
9514 - Elaine and David
9516 - Ruth, Matt and Ceanna (9)
9510 - Sondra and Nicole (8)

My youngest daughter will be 8 at the time of the cruise. She will be happy to email with your daughter. Send me a PM and I will send you her email address.
