Welcome!

I have two 10 year olds, two 8 year olds & a 7 year old sailing with us. I'm sure there will be tons of folks to get to know and hang out with on this one!

Hi Im sure my dd would like to penpal your Daughter but she doesnt know she is going on a cruise at the moment.
Not sure how long that will last:headache:. That said maybe would could get around it but Just introducing them via General penpaling :) Ie Disney in General and past Disney Cruises Not specificly about this Cruise?

Do you think your daughter would be up for that? Then she would be in on the big surprise once we get to the ship and my Daughter will have a friend appart from her little sister on board. She enjoyed emailing last year and still keeps in contact with people from the last cruise :)
I have never keep a holiday from my girls.:scared1:

We went out an renewed the kids passports the other night. I think I might actually have DS tricked into thinking we are going to Niagara Falls this summer.:thumbsup2 He told his piano teacher about getting their passports and that it was for Niagara! I hope the surprise doesn't get ruined.

Other than that I really haven't thought much about the cruise. What I really need to get on top of is dieting and exercise hardcore before our trip; I really need to drop some pounds before the cruise.

that's awesome..I wouldn't be able to keep anything from my kids.
my 10 year old is soooo nosy!!!!!:lmao:
need to start weight watchers again....(after having restarted what seems like a million times!)...

ugh!!!!!!!

we're getting close!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

as well as 5% back on most disney items for the first 90 days (after that it is 2% back at the end of the promotional period). Cruise payments count for that, which is why we plan to upgrade just before our final payment is due.

My bad, forgot the Disney items! Because, yep, we are looking forward to getting 5% back on that final payment (due in a little over a month).

:thumbsup2 Too funny! Do you plan to keep this up until the day of sailing? Don't know how you can do it, but I think it's great if you can.

I've given up on WW, and now I'm trying Special K. It seems to be working..for now.

128 days left! Sometimes seems like alot until I consider I booked this trip a year ago this month. Plus, time is flying!

Yes, I will try to keep it a secret up until that day. They've never been to Niagara, so if they say something as we are approaching NYC, I'll just say that's the way we have to go to get there. I think the sight of the Magic at the port will give it away though.;)

What's the special K diet? :confused3 I can take any help I can.

It still seems like a long time, especially when it is still over 100 days, but I guess relatively close since it was a year ago that we booked. I guess it has gone pretty quickly.

It's on the boxes of Special K. Special K cereal for breakfast, Special K protein bar or protein shake for lunch, sensible dinner. I like it because it's easy to pack a lunch, and you get two Special K snacks (they have baked chips, crackers, snack bars and fruit crisps (which taste like fruit poptarts)) and fruit and veggies. It seems to be working for me. At least right now.

Well ours has been ooked for around a week and I still havent told my girls :cool1:wonder if i can hold out:) do want them to get involved with the penpal thing but at the same time dont want them to find out :(

Was wondering if we had and scouts / girl scouts or guides going on the cruise. My Dh is a cub scout leader and on our last cruise we arranged for any scouting members of the group to come with either their scarves or their sashes and we got a nice photo and were able to swap some sew on patches (mainly used on camp blankets and such.) :cool1:

Girls managed to get some from california and from Holland as well as different english ones. Now we were mainly a european group last year as we sailed in the med so im not sure if anyone would be up for it. can try and post some photos if any one is interested :) Scouting is one big family and its nice to meet up with others who also belong to the movement. :)

My dd (10 years old) is a Junior Girl Scout and I know of a few others on our cruise..she has been emailing them....

My DD is finishing as a junior girl scout and will be flying up to a cadet before the cruise. I am her scout leader...she's going to be 11.

My DS just crossed over to Boy Scouts and my DD will be crossing over from Brownies to Juniors next month.

My DS just crossed over into boy scouts as well.

This has nothing to do with our cruise:offtopic:, but I am dying because DS and DH are off right now on his first hike as a Boy Scout. They have hiked 8 miles with a full 20lb backpack. Ugh.:faint:

I don't know, I think I would die if I had to go on an 8 mile hike with a 20lb pack. Isn't that the attraction of boy scouts, some one else takes your kid hiking? :thumbsup2

Hope they had a good time, did they get rained on?

They did get rained on the last hour of hiking on Saturday and it poured all night.:sad2: No, parents aren't required to go, but TG DH went. It was DS first boy scout hike, first time hiking over rocky terrain, and also had to do it for the first time with a 20lb backpack.:guilty: He broke down half way through Saturday and I don't think he would have made it without DH.:littleangel: And it wasn't a cake walk for DH either. Every muscle aches, he can barely walk, and has blisters all over his feet. But this gave DH more motivation for us both to get in better shape and drop some pounds before our cruise.:)

Sorry to get off topic. Let's get back to talking about our cruise.:woohoo: Almost at the 4 month mark.:thumbsup2

Hi everyone - this will be our 2nd Disney Cruise - our first was five years on the Magic - my wife Raquel and our daughter Lina (14 years old) got married on the Magic five years ago in May where we also met our super wonderful Disney friends :worship:"Absybabsy" . So this trip is celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary and Lina's graduating from Middle School to High school which she'll be starting in the fall.
We're hoping to meet other families with 14 year old kids starting high school as well.
Trying to decide on which excursion to go for at the Bahammas - 1. Atlantis Beach Day, 2. Blue Lagoon Beach Day, or 3.Atlantis Adventure. - any opinions?

Thanks

Hi all,

It has been a while since I have posted. We weren't sure for a while if we were going to be able to do the cruise, but we have decided to go for it:woohoo:

Not sure if it is still to early but my DD (13) is interested in getting to know others in her age group. If any of you have children interesting in corresponding please send me a pm so we can exchange info.

I also had a question about transportation. We are from southeastern MA and are thinking about taking the bus from Providence RI (closer than Boston). We really can't afford to take the bus (or train for that matter)a day early and stay in NY overnight since we are really pushing it by going on the cruise anyways. My question is does anyone know if the bus is reliable? If we take it the same day and we take one that is do to arrive late morning, are the odds that we will make the ship? I won't trust flying the same day, but feel like the bus and train may be different. What are your thoughts.
Ahoy fellow cruise member - me, my DW, and our DD will be on the cruise with you. Our DD is 14 and starts high school in the fall. We live north of the NYC in Westchester County. We frequently drive up to Boston and Salem. Our DD, loves to go to Boston once a year to the Boston AnimeCon. But her favorite spot is Salem  - she loves the shops and the comic book store in town. After she buys enough reading material, we walk over to the park by the water to spend some time reading and relaxing. Lina is a voracious reader - reads 3 to 5 books at a time. She aspires to be a writer and/or manga artist. She's not into sports but loves thrill rides.

Let us know if you think our daughters might be interested in meeting and hanging out. Our first cruise, she was shy just like the other little girl of the family we met at the first dinner. But after that, they talked as though they were sisters.

About the bus ride - I think they are pretty reliable so I wouldn't worry to much as long as you get an early start. Not sure if you considered renting a car for a day. We did that in Florida on our first cruise. Rented at the airport and dropped it off near the port where they shuttled us to the port. Something to check out.

Happy Cruising until then.
