August 23-30, 2003 "Welcome Home Fellow Cruisers--Trip Report Completed"

We also plan to fly in on the 22nd and stay at the Radisson the night before. Somehow I feel safer arriving early.

Kathy,

We look forward to meeting you around the pool at the Radisson. I've made the changes to the cruise list.

Are you scheduled for early or late dining?

Andy

Thanks for the info AA4Mom...It's good to know where I can find the info...I'll look for it. Hopefully it won't be an issue. I am also looking forward to meeting around the pool, and I was just imagining which drink I would have in my hand....maybe a cosmopolitan? We'll just have to see ......

Andy, we are set for 2nd seating as of now, but I did put in a request for 1st seating, reluctantly. I don't know if I will be happy watching the shows BEFORE dinner, somehow that seems like an AFTER dinner activity. I don;t think I would like being rushed to eat that early. I've always had 2nd seating, but that was before I had children. We'll see...I have a feeling it will be difficult to get 1st seating, anyway. What kind of experience have others had with 8 year olds and 2nd seating. My kids are definitely not the type of children who are in bed by 8pm, even on a school night. I think they will be able to handle it, all too easily.
Kathy

Lamby,

we had the same questions as you regarding dinner times. If you look through the posts, there are alot of families with the same age kids at late dinner. we were originally waitlisted for early seating and after reading took our names off the list.

Yes, 10:30p or so is not really that late, and you're on vacation... not having to get up really early in the morning is part of the fun! On a recent school field trip, my son got to stay up until midnight, because they had activities planned until then. He was in heaven, and told me it was his dream to be able to stay up until 12:00a every night! I told him that when he was older, he could if he wanted to, but then, he'd probably wish he could get to bed earlier!!

I think you talked me into cancelling my early seating request...I was never really happy about it. I read somewhere that parents would give the kids a late afternoon bite to eat so they could make it until 8:30 which is a really good idea, not just for them. I think I'm already gaining back the 30 pounds I need to take off before the cruise...ooops!
I just can't wait for school to be done and over with. Making lunches, washing uniforms, making sure homework is done...I"VE HAD IT!!! It won't be long now! Now that I finally put the countdown timer on, I'm even more excited..if that's possible.

Well if going on the cruise wasn't exciting enough....they are also launching an infrared telescope via a delta II rocket from the Kennedy Space Center on August 23rd! I don't know what the time is yet, but I sure hope we get a chance to see it!

Hi Kathy!

I am looking forward to meeting you at the Radisson. I am Trish from Nutley, NJ and am travelling with my dh, Michael, dsons Chris (11), Nicky (7.5), my nephew Matthew (9) and mother, Roxanne (50+)

We have late dining also (by choice) I would never fall asleep during a meal, but if I had dinner first, then shows, I would have more trouble staying awake. My three boys, on the other hand, are party animals and will have no problem with the late hours.

BTW, rasberry margarita for me, on the rocks, with salt. Thank you.

Trish

OH, and I almost forgot. My sons and nephew could eat their body weight in shrimp, any day. I hope DCL is planning to stock up on shrimp!

That's really exciting if they have a launch on the 23rd. I checked out the Cape Caneveral Launch Site to see if there was a time, but didn't find one. If you hear of anything, let us know.
As for late seating, I had to smile to myself tonight, as I was trying to get the kids to sleep at 1030pm. They were so wired from a very busy day, that they didn't actually fall asleep until past 11pm.
Trish, don't worry about the shrimp...my kids don't like it, but on the otherhand, Mr Perdue or Mr Tyson better stock plenty of chicken. Although, it's mostly DS who is picky; DD will try different things.
Kathy

75 Days to go and counting!!!

dd7 is looking forward to a week of chicken fingers and french fries. read in other posts that the mac and cheese is stouffers- doesnt work in our house.

I told Kyle that he can eat what every he wants for lunch... chicken fingers, pizza, whatever. Dinners I want him to try some new things. He's been wanting to try lobster. I hope I can get him to enjoy some new things that he might just end up liking.

Lisa,

I have been telling my boys the same thing. Pizza, chicken fingers, etc at lunch and snacks, but they are ordering off the adult menu for dinner. We do that quite often when we go to Disney. I encourage them to try new things, especially on the cruise, if they don't like it, they can order something else. I am glad that you had the same idea for Kyle. It will make things easy for us at dinner.

Trish

I know, I would hate to think that with all that fantastic food available, Kyle would just eat chicken strips.... such a waste!!
I hope he'll find some new favorites, and as you said, it will be alot easier to handle, with all the kids at the table having the same choices at dinner. I'm so glad we'll be eating with your family!!

Have Chris e-mail Kyle sometime, he would really love it.

Lisa

Lynn,

The excitement is building around here with each passing day. Friday night I made us three more t-shirts for the cruise, the designs are now in my signature. Yesterday we went and bought a new 4 piece luggage set. We have also been picking up little odds and ends for the cruise as well. I know I will probably take a ton of photos. I bought two extra smart cards for my digital camera and I still have to get some tapes for my camcorder. We are celebrating Angelina's 13th Birthday on Sunday night of our cruise, but she doesn't know anything about it. I made a large door magnet for our stateroom door, announcing the happy occasion. My mom, sister, and niece are all getting very excited about it as well. We had a surprise 50th Birthday Party for my sister last Saturday, and all she talked about at the party, was about the cruise.

Sure hope you can pop in and say Hi to all of us at the Radisson. How far away do you now live from the port area? I have seven more years and I can retire with full pension. My DW and I plan on becoming Snowbirds. I really can't take much more of these cold and damp winters, I need sun and warmth.

To all my fellow August 23rd Cruisers, we are now below the 10 week mark!!! Looking forward to meeting you all as well!!!

Happy Father's Day Andy!

Thanks!!! We just arrived home from Church with a stopover at Target (again!!!). Target has the Kodak one time cameras on sale for $8.49, I found a $4.00 off coupon in the newspaper this morning, so we got DD her camera for $4.49 and she gets the photos on a CD for free with developing the film. This was DD can have her own camera for the cruise.

Getting ready to have a bite of lunch. We celebrated Father's Day last night, today, it's hoagies, cheese curls, and iced tea, my kind of lunch.

Happy Father's Day to all.
We finally had a beautiful day:D We were finally able to spend a day in the yard.
I found a coupon for Kodak camera, too. Went to Target to pick one up. I am hoping my mother had a coupon too. They will be great cameras for dd and for those days at the beach when I wont want to bring my good camera. Make sure to put a return address label on the camera,so if it should get lost, some nice soul will return it.

Next week is another milestone- final payment is due. I made these reservations so long ago I didnt think the time would ever come. Now- time is flying so fast.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
