Tales from a WDW vet making first trip to DLR

You think Space Mountain is better at WDW?
Not sure which reddog 21 prefers, but we actually like space mtn at WDW more - probably nostalgia. We also prefer pirates at wdw which I know is an unpopular opinion. But we loved haunted mansion and small world at DLR, plus Matterhorn and Indy.
Guardians and Tower of Terror were a tie- love them both for different reasons. We especially liked the different layout of the lands at DLR and love that they still have the rivers of America- we rode on the riverboat, the Columbia, and the canoes 🙂

I like the Space Mountain at WDW more. It has the better entrance and exit queues. It has a store attached that's miles better than the both the small wall in the exit of the DLR version that doesn't carry much stuff and Star Traders which is really for Star Tours. You can get actual Space Mountain merchandise at the WDW version. The ride mechanism is better because it's a smooth track version of the Matterhorn. The climb up is better complete with the two Daft Punk looking guys. I even like the music better. The only thing it lacks is a good loading area. The exit queue is what Horizons used to be and I'm thankful it still exists.

I'll also argue the Haunted Mansion is better at WDW for the same reason, minus the shop. The entrance queue is better. The first portion where you load is more dramatic. DLR gets points for the Hatbox Ghost being in the right place. It's a more striking building than just a New Orleans manor. At Halloween time, they have characters on the lawn in front of the queue which adds to the flavor. Now New Orleans Square is a lot better than Liberty Square and the Mansion fits a lot better in NOS. The whole Liberty Square area is going to look weird next to a giant Cars land.

Guardians and Tower are not comparable IMO because they're two rides going for different things. Guardians is meant to be thrilling and be a fun ride. Tower of Terror is meant to scare you. The walk up to the Tower of Terror is better as is the outer queue. I like both equally but for different reasons.

Pirates is better at DLR by a wide margin. You simply can't beat the ambiance of the opening section with Blue Bayou.

I like the DL version a little better but it's really a toss up for me. I like the ride vehicle better and it's a little longer of a ride but WDW has more twists and turns

I would agree Pirates is a little better only because it's a longer ride but goes extremely slow. My kids like the WDW version better. The beginning section makes no sense so it's Pirates of the Bayou then we get transported to the Carribean.

You're in New Orleans Square. You float down the bayou to the cave. You transport to the Caribbean by going down into the cave. You return to New Orleans Square when you exit the cave.

except the very last scene just before you disembark is the beach with the Pirate flag, a treasure chest, sea shells...etc. I haven't been to the bayou but I'm just guessing they don't have beach sand with sea shells. Now were back to Pirates of the Bayou.

Disagree. That's the title card for the ride. You see it when you walk in the attraction in the regular queue. The final scene is Captain Jack singing in his chamber.

I think they are talking about the scene with the parrot at the entrance to the attraction.

My reading comprehension was a little off this morning.

It’s also the last thing you see before exiting the ride(which I consider part of the ride)—and the part you end up staring at the most, since that’s where the boats tend to get backed up.

I'm not knocking the ride I just find it funny and out of theme. It's like if they put mount Everest at the beginning of Gran Fiesta Tour in Epcot instead of the pyramid. I'm sure it would be stunning to look at but it wouldn't fit anything.
