August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

Donald-the books are waaaayyyyy better than the movie...atleast the first one is/was!

Howdy!

What a busy week! Welcome to our new cruisers!

It's been so insane, I don't even know where we are on the countdown

Paige's (aka Aurora) dance recital was last night. In about an hour, we head out for her last softball game of the season. Yep, all the school year activities are ending, and less than 2 weeks of school left. Whoa!

All camps are scheduled, and everything for the cruise is set. The way time is flying, it will be here before we know it.

P.S. I finished the Harry Potter series last summer, so I'm thinking of trying the Twilight series this summer. Unfortunately, the first book has been unavailable at the library. Regardless, sounds like I am avoiding the movies for the time being.

Well I have been putting it off, and haven't actually "offically" cancelled it yet.. but we will not be going. We just can't justify the cost right now for the cruise. We booked 2 cabins, and when I tried to get us into one, I was told no go. So...I hope you all enjoy it!!

I'm sorry to hear that you won't be joining us. I was on the EB Repo last year too, but I don't believe that we met. Thank you for your good wishes and hopefully we will sail together again.

...right...so far I have
Fluffy Bunny,Ski and Sea,wayneg,sandyh67,bellebud,jhryb,Mackie Mouse, theFatmanswife,stsomewhere,shelleyr25,julielouhoo,ragtopday,kylelover1, my mystery party (of 8!!!) and my mum and brother!

Have I missed anyone? let me know!

plus families ofcourse...:cutie:

I never participated in FE's before, but I am looking forward to it this time (I have my FE ready). I am not exactly sure what is expected. Should I print off the room list from Wayne's website? what are typical gifts?

I was able to get a Palo dinner reservation for my DH, Sister and I. I was also able to get a Palo brunch for my DH and I. I booked a couples spa (I am planning to tell my DH on fathers day). I didn't book any excursions yet. We have friends who will be on another cruise line, but we will all be in Grand Cayman at the same time. We are looking for something that we can all do together (there will be 5 adults and 4 kids b/w the ages of 10 and 13) any suggestions?

Thanks
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer
I believe Maria is going to print lists for us.
For gifts we got a massive variety of stuff, from a postcard to very nice ltd edition Disney pins(someone worked at Disney Store) we got candy, pencils, keychains, Disney music CD's plus lots more.
Some people are very thoughtful and read every post in the thread and buy gifts that relate to the recievers interests, Others give gifts for every family member and others like us put a little package together for the whole family to share.
Couple of links I just found showing some gifts, if you Google you might find more.

All Twilight fans there is a cruise for you all next year.

What a cool idea.......I've always felt there should be a Harry Potter themed cruise. I mean if there is a Nickelodeon cruise why not Harry Potter?

The Twilight books are good cruise/beach reading books - entertaining and easy to read. The fourth book is the best of the series.

We've had a gorgeous weekend here weatherwise in NJ. On Saturday my Girl Scout troop went to see Wicked on Broadway. It was part of a Girl Scout program where there was a morning program at the theater just for Girl Scouts then we broke for lunch then returned to see the afternoon performance of Wicked.

Wicked is amazing. Fortunately, I had not read the book nor really knew much about the plot so I was just stunned at the surprises at the end. I was actually crying as it was so good.

Then today I spent the afternoon pulling weeds out of my flower beds. With all the wet weather we've had the weeds have grown like crazy. At least with the ground being saturated the weeds were easy to pull out.

Just a quick FYI in case you didn't already know - Wicked the book is MUCH more "Adult" than the Musical. So if the musical inspired you to read the book - you will likely be quite surprised how different it is.

Well, after keeping this to myself (after all I am British and a shy, retiring sort:rotfl2:), I have a confession to make.

I and my family (DH and DD 8) will all be on the 22 August cruise. Yeah:yay:

All the times I see these threads and never have been tempted to join in but as the time gets nearer, I can feel those happy carefree holiday vibes reaching out to me and feel compelled to join in!!

There, I've confessed, so no turning back now:lmao:

Welcome! I have a DD-8, too. Her name is Marina.

Welcome! Wow, another Brit! Wayne claims that on all his previous cruises he has never ran into another Brit. On this cruise, I don't think you will be able to spit without hitting a Brit (not that I intend to spit at anyone :thumbsup2).

OK, this is day

75

right? I have completely lost track.

I do know this was payoff day, and the opportunity for all the first time cruisers (who did not buy the romance pkge) to make spa and Palo reservations. Hope everyone got what they wanted!

Welcome to the thread! There are several British people in the group; I am sure you'll feel right at home.

75 days from right now, we'll be cruising down the Florida coast :)

Hello!

We just booked for the Aug 22nd date as well. We have NEVER sailed before so we are very excited. The kids don't know we are going yet and we are trying to keep it a surprise until we actually get to the ship. They have been bugging us for so long about going!!! So by all means, if anyone has any tips or advice, maybe important things that we need to know before hand, the info would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome, Angela. Unfortunately I don't have advice on distracting the kids until you reach the port.

I am going to be totally comfortable on this cruise - it seems that if I am in the company of any of you, I am probably in the company of a nurse! Of course my DW is my primary RN, but we won't be next to each other all the time!

Ha Ha HA....

Well, I was just reading through the posts. You are right it seems there are a lot nurses that have booked. I saw the CCU and NICU represented. I am pediatric Hem/Onc. But there are the basic skills in the event of an emergency:)

Welcome Aboard!!!
Will add you to list this evening, let me know names if you want them adding.
Hope you can keep the surprise somehow. Seeing the ship as you approach Port Canaveral is an amazing feeling, especially for the 1st time.

Is it in T&C's for this cruise you have to be a Brit or a Nurse?:rotfl:

Hello!!
I will be on this cruise with the rest of you. It will be me, my husband, and my two boys (6,2) along with my parents, sister, brother in law, and nieces (11, 6). We are looking forward to being there. I am new to this site as well as cruising. Any information would be great.

We made reservations for Palo on day 7 at 6:30. Will we be missing something good in the regular restaurant?

First off, only 74 days until we are all onboard.

I had my first stress related DCL dream last night :scared1:. The Magic was docked near our local Rita's Water Ice, and we kept getting on and off the ship, and then I was upset because it was 7 PM and we were missing dinner because my DS had to take a shower at home :confused3. Hope this isn't the first of a series!

Welcome to you and jsolar and your families. Good luck with the surprise. I was able to keep our trip to WDW a surprise last year. I didn't know how I was going to, I thought the kids would figure it out when I was packing, but they knew we were going to their cousin's first communion, and somehow they convinced themselves that that was what I was packing for (the sheer volume should have tipped them off that it was more than we needed for a weekend in Virginia )

The best tip: the DIS Boards. If you can't find what you are looking for, just ask.

Welcome Aboard!!!

We drove down last time, and we arrived on Thursday, and saw the Wonder in port. I cried!
