August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

Does anyone know the date CAstaway Club members can book excursions? I think that it is 90 days out. But, unsure on exact date.

Thanks

Yes, it is 90 days out, but I don't have that date.

I will be booking ressies at 105 days out which, if my math was correct, is May 9. So, if I was correct on may 9, 15 days later is May 24th.

Wayne - adding the deck plans was a great idea! I am trying to memorize relevant parts of the deck plan before I board so I don't need to refer to a map to find my way around...

This will be our 5th Disney cruise so I just about know where most things are. Matt knows his way around blindfolded. But Karen still gets totally confused, sometimes has no idea if she is at back or front of the ship:rotfl:

Boy, I am so behind!!! Started reading this thread and stopped in mid-April!! LOL!!
A few thoughts...
Love the FE thing...not too crafty over here but will give it a shot!
Last experience with a DIS meet was pretty good. One of the guys owned a tshirt company and made us all shirts (for no charge!!-he was awesome) and mailed them out to us before the trip. A bunch of us wore them that first day and it helped everyone pick each other out in the crowd so we were able to chat before we even got on the ship.
I love the Red Hot Chili Cruisers logo...what is everyone doing with it??? I loved doing the door signs last time but felt that I was the only one on the ship with something on our door, looks like I wont feel that way this time!! LOL

Big question- what is everyone doing for excursions?? I am sure there are 1000 posts about it already but if someone can give me a summary, I would appreciate it...I am getting so psyched for this trip!!!:cool1::cool1:

Grumpy-gramps.....very sorry to see you won't be sailing with us but you have an excellent excuse for bailing out on us. ;)

Well, DS had bronchitis for two weeks. Just returned to school yesterday. He started off with the flu but then his fever spiked and we took him to the doctor. Bronchitis has been going around school.

I am in the middle of reading four different books. I really need to pick one and just finish it. I'm almost done reading all four Twilight books (can't wait for that DVD to come out soon :cloud9: ). The fourth Twilight book is amazing. I highly recommend it.

Also started reading the book on Joe Torre about his years managing the NY Yankees. I'm a Mets fan myself but I'm enjoying reading Torre's book. I recommend that one, too.

Looks like we will have lots to chat about in Aug.
I am a huge Twilight fan as well...we also ski in PA!!!
Really looking forward to meeting everyone in a few months:yay::yay:

We will be filling the door with signs, pic below of past cruise(same cabin again)

Only thing we are considering is for myself and Matt, fishing at Castaway Cay, loved it last time. In ports we will just get off for a hour or 2 then back onboard to enjoy quiet ship.

Shelley

We will just walk around Key West.
I need a new MArgaritaville shirt.
We will walk to the southern most point and get Key lime pie on a stick.
We will watch the local vendors in Mallory square and the sunset.

Grand Cayman- probably just the beach, but may do a snorkle excursion.

By the way, Marina is enjoying emailing Carly and is excited to have a friend on the ship already.

I haven't had a chance to browse through this meet thread, but I was wondering if there will be many kids aboard in the 11-15 age range? We sailed Disney a couple of summers ago and had an awesome group of disboarders!! We've since sailed twice on Royal Caribbean and my 14 yr old DD missed Disney!!

Thanks for the help!!

Thanks so much!! My DS is 11, so that will be great for him. My DD is 14 and hopefully there will be some girls her age.

Now to convince DH that we need another cruise!!!

I bought the Twilight movie yesterday. I was trying to hold out because the books were so much better.

I could not pass it up since it was on sale.

Erik is always making Twilight references to me. We were watching American Idol last night and he was talking about the twilight dude.(The punk guy Adam). I had Erik take me to the movies to see it when it came out.

When I was at the Quiet Cove in Feb., there was a guy reading Twilight. He said he wanted to read it because his wife was always talking about it.

I lent my books to my sister and she just did not get them. What is wrong with her?

I saw the movie first because Carly wanted to see it. We then read the books...twice!! LOL!! I then watched it 6 more times off of some crazy website where someone had filmed it with a camcorder...just got the dvd the other day and we watched it 2 more times. I guess I qualify as slightly obsessed!!:rolleyes1
We also love the soundtrack, not sure if you have it or not, if not you should!! LOL

I will have to go over the excursions with the family and see if there is anything anyone cant live without doing. I too just love to walk around a bit and then enjoy the quiet ship. We did that in Nassau and found it to be so relaxing.

After reading through more of the past posts I see we will have a big scout brigade on the ship. I am a co-leader of Carly's Junior troop..maybe we need a scout logo as well!! LOL

I just love the Chili Pepper logo...last time we cruised we were the Dorky Disney Cruisers so just about anything is better than that!!:rotfl2:

I am a regisitered leader for my DD's Brownie troop and first aider. I am also in charge of crafts. They call me Crafty Christi. There is another mom named Kristi too. They call her Crusty. So, Crafty is definetley better.

DH has been the Cubmaster for DS Pack. Matt went up to Boy Couts in Feb. and Dh(Erik) is assistant scoutmaster and is planning on being scoutmaster when the current one retires in a year or so.
I was Matt's Den leader for Tiger and Wolf.

Wow that is a lot of PT. Hope you are feeling better!

That was a great cruise. If I remember correctly, the poor guy that made them couldn't even come. I believe his dad was very ill.

Nice to be cruising with you again!

Dawn

The only downer on that cruise was Coach Rick had to cancel last minute due to his dad's illness. Didn't his dad pass away shortly after that?

Welcome Shelley from another NJ'er.

We gave up flying in the day of the cruise. It just makes for too long a day. Last time we did it I saw my picture posted on the DIS boards from our DIS meet onboard the first day and I looked dreadful. Never again.

We fly down the day before. I just made my reservation at the Radisson at the port. Now just have to make the flight reservations.

I, too, love the Twilight soundtrack. I listen to it all the time. But I don't understand why the Radiohead song "15 step" is not on it.

Funny story about buying the DVD for Twilight......on Saturday the kids and I were coming back from skiing and passed a Walmart. So I stopped to go in to buy the DVD. This was around 6pm. I bought the second to last copy they had of the 2-disk version.

Unbelievable that Walmart was basically sold out in less than 24 hours.

Just finished the 4th Twilight book. It blew me away. I'm a Jacob fan so I loved how the Bella/Edward/Jacob triangle got resolved.

Not only am I a Girl Scout leader myself, but I am also service unit manager. This has been my first year. I enjoy it a lot. Its pretty time consuming, particularly dealing with the merger of all the Councils and the introduction of the Journeys. Too much change at once. But the people I deal with are terrific.

We plan on staying onboard in Key West. We're fishing in Grand Cayman. Snorkeling in Cozumel. Both kids will do the teen wild side on CC.

My DD will be 13 on the cruise. JoiseyMom has a 13 y/o as well.

Absolutely we do door signs. I've had cruises where we were the only room on our floor that had door signs.

Off topic question for you guys..:offtopic:

Do any of you use Facebook? I feel like a dinosaur since I don't use it. I participate on message boards like this one, but I feel like I must be missing something since I don't see the need to use Facebook. Not that I'm against it.

I am on FB and love it! I have reconnected with so many people from high school/college. It is really pretty amazing. :thumbsup2

We flew down the night before our last cruise and stayed at the Radisson, it worked out well. At that point we were worried about snow so that is why we did it. This time dh just doesnt want to spring for it.

Started editing my door sign from the last cruise. I must say, the one advantage of being the only door sign in the hallway is that the kids could always pick out our room. ;)

Good luck with the flight resy's...I have been looking into them for months...the prices have been all over the place and the times keep changing!! Finally booked last week.
