August 2016 Car Rental Rate watch

My rate has gone down slightly, however, I'll only rent through Alamo and National, I'm at $308 at National for 9 days full size/Emerald Aise (8/2-11), and the price at Alamo is similar for a standard/full.

What codes and coupons did you use?

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I'm with you, only Alamo or National. I used to rent from National a lot but Alamo has been so much cheaper the past couple of years.

I agree, Alamo was slightly higher using a dvc contract code (no Costco here), plus $25 coupon. We are executive aisle members and like to find something fun on the aisles. Plus I've had issues with cars and the folks at Alamo/national were great to work with to solve the problems. They are worth paying extra IMHO

My Alamo reservation is down to $305 this morning. 12 days, Costco code and AD3868JST $25 off coupon. National is $370 with n3mm's codes.

That's a good rate for Alamo....is that a full size? Since we are executive aisle members, we are guaranteed a full size or larger, so that's how we compare. The rates seem to be dropping lately, so happy to see that.

Update: My rates today are $304 National/full size/or large on aisle. For Alamo, surprisingly, I'm getting a cheaper rate using the passholder contract number than the costco one. Using passholder 15000 and $25 coupon, the full size is at $265.

No, it's a compact. We don't need anything larger and so far it's the cheapest. In the $200's would make me really happy! Fingers crossed it keeps going down.

I used the $25 off coupon AD3868JST with the Costco code and got it down to $344 for 12 days, compact car.

What is the Costco code, or do you book directly with the costco travel website? We have a costco membership.

Yes saw some new lower rates on Alamo. For those like me who are not Costco members, I'm finding the passholder rate of 15000 is yielding the same rate as the costco member rate when comparing.

I'm now at 442.57 for 2 weeks 3 hours with Alamo, standard/full size. I used the insiders free upgrade and passholder coupon code.

Just wanted to say THANKS to Laurabelle for the above codes. We need an add'l driver, so Costco is going to be our best bet - I didn't know I could input it directly on the Alamo site! I'm down to $175 for 9 days (or $113 at the Dolphin for the three days we really need it... haven't decided which to do yet.) Much better than the $500+ I was getting when I first started pricing!

I had a horrid experience with Budget last month at the pickup counter and won't be using them again.

Hi, Can you tell me what codes you put for Alamo to get this $308 rate? My dates are almost same as yours, 8-3 to 8-10. So I am looking for 8 day rental, which is one less than you, Full size, and my price I am getting is higher than yours. I get confused which code to put in which box. Coupon, contract or product boxes, which goes in which? Thanks for your help!

My best rates using Alamo's site thus far have been:

Coupon code: AD3868JST
Contract ID: 15000 (This is a Disney Passholder which I am but you should have no problem using that)
Product Code: AS1

Alternatively, you can try 7014627 for the contract ID as this is the Costco ID. It will get you a second driver free. Unfortunately, although I'd like to have that, my rates at MCO for 8/20 - 9/5 using Costco's ID are much higher than the 3 I mentioned above.

Good luck and I do agree with Carrie. I use Alamo only now after using Dollar and Budget MANY years back. Their rates are great and they are always ultra helpful if needed, at least in my experience.
