August 2015!!!

We are using the magical TA for our 8/17-8/31 stay(29 days!!!! Woo hoo) Oddly enough, we received our ME tags back in March. I don't know why we received them so early.

Just found this threads DW newbie first trip August 2-11, would love any suggestions and tips.

I just went to check my Disney folder thinking maybe I already received my tags a long time ago, but forgot. :rotfl:But no such luck. Oh well.

Got two of our magic bands decorated yesterday...originally just my girls and I were decorating ours -- DH and my parents didn't want theirs decorated. After my Mom saw how mine turned out (it's a vinyl decoration that my sister cut for me) she wanted hers done. Fortunately my sister had done the vinyl for me in two colors so I was able to use the other one on my Mom's band. (Mine is the pink band; Mom's is the green band.) We ordered a pink chevron stripe from DVC Central for one of my daughters and she'll probably put hers on today. The other daughter is painting hers and putting on a monogram with Minnie ears/bow. Now she wants to decorate DH's band and my Dad's band. I thinks she's going to do a BYU "Y" on my Dad's band and she's still deciding what to do on DH's band.

:welcome:

The best advice I can give a first-timer is to try to have a plan, and don't expect to try to do it all!! It's going to be hot, be sure to take breaks (lots of folks like to head out early and tour for the morning, then go back to the resort for a pool or nap break in the heat of the day, then back to tour a park in the evening). Don't over do it. Stay hydrated!!! Can't stress that enough.

Basically just go and enjoy yourselves! Take time out for the little things, don't make it a mad rush from one attraction to the next. WDW is FULL of "the little things" that all add up to create the magic!

Those are great! I have painted mine and did the glitter thing last year, but those are really pretty. Did she make the design herself?

I saw this design on the thread on the DIS and asked the person there how they did it. There is a Facebook group where she got the pattern so I joined that group and got the pattern and sent it to my sister to cut it for me.

Three weeks from right now we'll be on the road from my parents' house in middle GA to WDW...woohoo! Can't wait to check into POFQ, activate our tickets, and have dinner at 'Ohana that night!

If you take a break and go back to swim, which parks do you go with, I've made my touring plans with no real breaks..rookie mistake i guess. I've read you should go to the park that had EMH the previous day, does that hold up in real life?

I used to use the recommendations from Touring Plans, but on our last trip the information from EasyWDW seemed more accurate in terms of best park to visit each day. Generally speaking, they say you should avoid the park that has EMH unless you're going to do EMH for an hour and then hop over to another park. We avoid the EMH parks pretty much entirely. I also like the "Cheat Sheet" at EasyWDW and their "ideal day" touring recommendations.

Don't feel bad. We used to try and take an afternoon swimming break. But once the kids finally got out of the pool, we were all too exhausted to go back to the park.

If you don't have park hoppers, I would avoid EMH parks.

I just called Magical Express today. It only took a couple of minutes (they just needed my resort reservation number) and they have sent me tags. I was able to request the 6 tags that we wanted (there are 4 of us). The CM said 10 business days till they arrive- so we will have them for our trip:-) Hope you are able to get your tags too.

With few exceptions, that seems like something that would work in real life, yes. www.easywdw.com has the most accurate park recommendations, in my experience.

Re: parks -- if you have park hoppers (and can therefore go to more than one park in the same day), you have a bit more flexibility in your touring. As a rule, parks with EMH are usually not "recommended," but you can get around that with Hoppers. I find if I'm at a park that has EMH in the morning, arriving so I"m ready to head in as soon as it opens, I can get a lot done in that first hour. As the park gets busier, I may head out and spend the rest of the day in another park. Likewise, parks that are staying open late (particularly the Magic Kingdom) for EMH, the later it gets, the thinner the crowds will be; so I'll often go to such parks after dinner and just enjoy the evening there.

If you don't have Park Hoppers for this trip, I wouldn't worry about it (it may actually be less stressful for you) and just plan each day carefully, based on anticipated crowds and recommendations.

If you don't have kids, taking a resort break is not mandatory; you can always just find someplace cool and out of the way within your park, or nearby, to take a breather from the heat and the crowds. It really comes down to personal preference and tolerance levels! :p

One thing that we like to do for a break instead of going back to our resort....if we're at MK we like to hop on the resort monorail and go look around the monorail resorts. If we're at Epcot or DHS we like to get on the boat and go for a little boat ride -- the round trip ride is usually enough to give us a good break so we can keep charging on with our plans. Both take less time than going back to the resort to rest and then getting back to the parks.

So were they not going to send your tags before you called? I did call them in February after I booked my flights.

TBH I'm not sure. I *think* the magical agent was in the process of doing it? ME had our flight info. from our magical agent.
Usually we are spoiled with our terrific CAA travel agent who does all of our Disney trips - just couldn't pass up on the magical deal at Beach Club though...
Just glad tags are on the way and will be here on time :goodvibes
