August 2015!!!

Can I join in the fun? Our June 2015 trip just got rescheduled to August 2015. We'll be at POFQ, August 10-16. We'll be using the military salute tickets so my Dad (retired Air Force) will be going with us for the first few days of the trip. We're hoping my Mom will be able to join us as well. My parents have stayed at POFQ a few times and loved it and so that's the resort my Dad requested. We've never stayed there before so we're excited to try a new resort. This trip is a celebration of our oldest daughter's return from an 18 month church mission in Honduras. She and I did a Disney trip with my parents just a couple of weeks before she left, and we let her pick the family vacation for this year and, of course, she picked WDW! :-) She'll be home the first week of April and we're SO excited to have her back home. So we'll do our WDW trip in August and then a week or so later she'll head back to college. We'll be doing four park days, broken up by a water park/DTD/whatever else day in the middle.

Welcome!!!! Sounds like you guys are going to have a great trip! Happy planning!!! :-)

I am back for another late August trip! This will be our 4th year in a row going the week leading up to labour day (technically I have more days in September than August this year w/Labour Day being late, but I still feel more like I'm going in August. :confused3)

This year is just DS and I again. My DH is not a Disney fan at all and after our 2013 trip, he'd about had enough so now DS and I do it as a duo. We had a blast last year and can't wait to do it all again. I had originally booked AoA Cars Suite on the bounceback, but since decided to switch it over to WL! I am so freaking excited because I've wanted to stay there for the last 3 trips and this year, it's happening. I also decided to go DxDP again, which we did for the first time last year and I absolutely love taking advantage of it in all the great restaurants.

Right now I'm trying to finalize my ADR in preparation for my window to open up in about a month and starting to keep an eye on flight prices as well.

7 months to go... woot!:cool1:

Can I join in the planning fun? :) We are planning on 8/2-8/5 at POR or CBR and then 8/5-8/12 Poly CL. We haven't been since June 2013. It will be me, my two kids, and my DBF. This is only his second trip. His first and only trip was when he was 13. :sad2:
:goodvibes Nice to see you have a trip coming this summer! I bet those kiddos are HUGE! :lovestruc

We are also doing Poly CL this August, I need to figure out our ADR date...even though DH doesn't want me to make any ADRs :rotfl:

Our trip is booked for Aug 15-22 staying at POR. My last trip to Disney was in 1998, unsure of when DH was there last, and it will be our 2 DD's first trip (ages 8 & 5). DH thinks I am crazy for planning "so far in advance" but is thankful that I enjoy doing it  It seems so close yet so far away. I think I am the most excited one in my family :thumbsup2

Cheers to all your planning!

We are going to be there in Aug as well. Still trying to firm up dates but I believe we will be off-site Aug 8-13th and then at the Poly from the 13th-18th on the Magical Deal! The original plan was 2 full weeks but had to shift dates around other kid commitments. Hoping we might be able to stretch it out until the 20th or 21st at least. I currently have the Poly booked all the way through the 22nd.

DS will be 11 and DD will be just shy of 9. I'm really bummed about my son not being considered a kid anymore for dining. I have been trying to figure out what dining reservations to make at 180 days out and am not planning to make many since I have to pay adult prices for him on any character meals/buffets. Free dining would have been nice this time!

Our last trip was in 2010 so this is the first trip navigating FP+ reservations and with the split stay it is sounding complicated. Trying to figure out which days we want to do which parks.

We are planning to hit universal studios for a couple days at the beginning of our trip. Really excited about staying at the Poly (though I hope construction is mostly done)!

Huge and fresh! lol I have a sick princess on my hands today.

This is my DBF's first trip. He has no idea what he's in for. But he's a super sweetheart and agreed to let Lily and I go alone for the first 4 nights and he's going to fly down with Daniel to meet us at the Poly. Yay for that!

:goodvibes Sweet!!! He will have a fab trip, you plan things well with lots of downtime and yummy snacks. That is SO cool Lily gets her Mama all to herself for a few nights. Hope she's feeling better soon :wizard: Double yay for a sweet DBF

I was told to not plan anything as per my DH :rotfl: silly man.....

I love Universal, but my family is spoiled by staying onsite, and that's not in the budget this year...see you at the Poly!! I did splurge for Park Hoppers since we are better at "Going with the flow"

I think you'll be happy that you are planning in advance, especially with dining choices for the DDs. There are so many fun options available to book that may not be available later. It can be a lot of fun to learn and plan! Enjoy!

It is kinda pathetic actually. I have a color coded excel spreadsheet to keep track of everything. DH just rolls his eyes when I bust it out yo get his opinion. He has pretty much left all planning up to me. I think I need to get him to sign something before we go so I don't get any complaints.:cool1:

We have a color-coded excel sheet too!

We are going back again for our third August visit in 4 years. We are staying at WL for the first time this year on a bounce-back offer with Free Dining. We will be there from August 25th to September 2nd, with hopes that MNSSHP starts on September 1st again this year. As teachers, it will be our only opportunity for us to see this party, and it would be fantastic for our girls.

I create color coded spreadsheets also to keep track of everything. Your husband sounds a lot like mine. Whenever I ask his opinion all I get is "I don't care".

And once I add Fastpasses, the sheet is going to get bigger and better. :cheer2:

Would you be willing to share your spreadsheets? I need to figure out a new way to keep track of my planning/organizing as a result of FP+....I'm looking for a good tool!

We've done several Disney trips and felt like we really had our touring style/methodology/plans nailed down. This will be our first trip with FP+ and, to be honest, we're all a bit nervous about it. We're used to being there for rope drop and then riding the headlines/picking up FP so that we can ride the headliners multiple times each day...FP+ means that really isn't possible anymore...I think we'll be lucky to get two rides on Soarin' or TSMM each day (we can use single rider lines for others). It's a little daunting to figure out how to revise our touring style/plan in light of the FP+ changes.

What I have is nothing fancy. All I did was go into excel and list all the days we are going to be there and then put in lunch and dinner as to where I was my ADR's to be. If you want to message me your email address I can send it to you. I am not sure how to attach a file on the boards.

Me too! And my FH is the same. He doesn't care what we do...he is just happy to go along for the ride and not have to think of any of the planning.

Same. I have special colors for parks and for ADRs (TS) vs. (QS).

My DH is the same, but he usually says, "whatever you want to do."

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a partner that doesn't want to hear it. :rotfl: Every timei bring it up he says "You're the travel agent. You know best." It's maddening! Sometimes I want some feedback!

Like I said, I am having a list of "rules" when we are in the parks. One of the rules will be that since I did all the planning, I don't want to hear any complaints. I am having each family member sign my contract :rotfl:

I told him since he isn't a real client, he doesn't get the same service and I don't want to hear any complaints. ;)
