August 2015!!!

:mickeyjumOne week from today I get to make my ADR's. I'm sooooooo excited!!!:goofy:

I get to make mine on August 11. We got the official word this morning that my Mom has decided to come on the trip and now she and my Dad will do two park days with us plus spend our non-park day with us. Fortunately it was easy to add another night to my Dad's resort reservation. It will be fun to have them there. That changes my park day and ADR plans just a little bit, since we want to do the two parks they like the most while they are there, plus one of the TS places they like. :-)

Since we moved our June trip to August I will be re-doing my ADRs next week. I'm also reworking our touring and dining plans since my parents are coming for part of the trip. Normally, we go to 'Ohana for dinner on our main MK day, but I'm rethinking that for this trip.

We'll be arriving mid-afternoon on a Monday (probably around 3 pm) and will get checked in at our resort. Normally we would head to DTD on arrival night and eat dinner there or at our resort. I'm thinking about making our 'Ohana ADR for arrival night for a couple of reasons. First, we'll need to go to guest services to have our military salute tickets activated, and we can do that at MK. Second, since we won't have been in the parks that day, we won't be exhausted and too hot to eat a big meal.

What do you think about doing an ADR on arrival evening?

I think if you are arriving at around 3 in the afternoon, you should be fine with an evening ADR. As long as it is later evening you should be fine even with a small delay. We are hoping to arrive around 3:30pm and I'm scheduling an 8pm ADR.

Have you ever had one of those dreams where you arrive at WDW and realize you haven't planned anything? No ADRs, no FP+, no resort reservation, nothing? I had one of those two nights ago. It was awful! We arrived at WDW and had no FP+...couldn't get the app to work and couldn't find the kiosks, and of course by the time we figured it out there were no FP+ available on anything and the lines were all hours long...

I think I'm having a bit of trip anxiety...LOL! This will be our first trip with FP+ and I think it's fair to say we're all a bit nervous about how it will impact the trip.

I knew there had to be an August 2015 thread around here somewhere ;) I was in the August 2014 group and have been in FB group for awhile but just now making my way over here. Today is Day 180 for us!!! SO, I woke up early and made our ADRs. Coincidentally, we also got our tax return deposited today so we also enrolled in the Disney Youth Education program and purchased our tickets. This year's trip includes myself, dh, our three boys (who will be 11, 8, and 6 at the time of the trip), and a close family friend of ours.

Trip Dates 8/5-8/13
Staying in a RV at Ft. Wilderness

We just get single-day tickets and now that our ADRs our made, our park days are pretty much scheduled. Here is what we've got so far:
8/5 - Arrival Day (still have to buy plane tickets- waiting for SW to release the rest of their August dates)
8/6- EPCOT
9:45a - our friend is doing "Dolphins In Depth"- which I am super jealous of!
1:15 lunch at Biergarten
8/7- MK
Hoping to be able to book the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party but so far the dates for August haven't been opened up yet
8/8- AK
8/9- Break Day

9:30a 'Ohana Breakfast
8/10- Epcot
8:30AM - Discovering Marine Life Conservation Youth Education Program (my husband will go with the two older boys)
12p - Coral Reef Restaurant
8/11 - HS
5:20p 50s Primetime Cafe
8/12 - MK
6:25p Be Our Guest (hopefully we will be able to change this to a lunch reservation once they open those up)
8/13 - Departure Day

So... that's our trip so far! Very excited. Now that we have bought our park tickets, enrolled in the Disney Youth Education Program, and made our dining reservations things seem super real!!!! Eek!!!

I can't believe ADR day is coming up so soon! We're only making one ADR so it's not that exciting for us, but I have a few friends who need to make ADR's in August. I better remind them.

pixiedust: Good luck to all August ADR makers. hope you get all your top picks at the perfect time! :goodvibes

Just booked our trip for August...can't wait to go back. Excited to book our ADRs on Thursday. Does anyone happen to have the link for the Photopass FB group?

:)I booked all my ADRs this Wednesday and had no problem getting everything we wanted.

I was just going to ask if anyone new if there was a Memory Maker or Photopass Share for August....

Has anyone been having any issues with making ADRs? I know on the August FB group a few people have been saying that they've had some issues. Mine is coming up next Monday the 16th party:

I didn't have any problems at all. It was very easy. The times I wanted were available and I did minimal searching. Good luck!

Hi all!
I think I was on this thread in the very beginning, then we had some uncertainty with the trip, dates, etc and I hadn't been back for awhile. But things are set, we're booked and I'm back to celebrate. :D

We'll be going Aug 7-16 and staying at Art of Animation. We're fitting a lot in this trip - We're doing LEGOLAND on the 8th, Disney the 9-12, then St. Pete Beach the 13-16. First trip with FP+ and also first trip with Park Hoppers, so planning this trip is really confusing me way more than in the past!

I made ADR's yesterday with no trouble - even saw some BOG dinner times for a few of our days, though I decided the quick service lunch looked more our preference. I was thinking of doing the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert party just because we hadn't done it before and I thought it looked neat, plus photography is a hobby of mine so I thought it would make for some good photos. However it doesn't show any dates for this past July 4...anyone have any idea why? I'll keep checking back with it, not a huge deal one way or the other, just curious.

Glad to finally be officially back here!

People were posting on the FB page again this morning claiming that they were having issues getting on MDE to make their adr's. Some mentioned that certain browsers work better than others. Thoughts?

I don't know to be honest. I just tried searching again on both my iPad and using google chrome and didn't have any issues searching or selecting times. I used my iPad to book when I made my ADRs.

The system has been glitchy. Saturday was my ADR day but I couldn't get it to work well until Sunday afternoon. By Monday morning, I had everything I wanted.

My kids (especially my 8 year old) have been wanting to do some sort of countdown to this trip. Last year the trip was a surprise for the kids so they didn't help out with the planning or anything. It was a lot of fun and I am really glad we did it that way for their first trip (you can watch our reveal video here if you'd like
).

This trip, however, the kids know all about and it has been a new kind of fun planning and anticipating with them. Now that we have entered into the 180 days before our trip mark, we have started counting down by watching Disney movies. The plan is to watch a different movie every other week and eat special foods themed from the movie and maybe have some kind of game or activity that goes along with it. We were going to start off by watching Brave and eating all kids of goodies (sausages, potatoes, Cranachan, shortbread, etc) but my youngest son ended up getting sick on the day that I was going to head to the store for these goodies so we improvised with the meals we already had planned for the week.

So, instead of Scottish theme we had Queen Elinor's and Merida's fresh caught Salmon w/ salad and rice (my husband made the delicious dinner) and witch's brew (which was actually something I usually call "bedtime milk"- warmed milk with a touch of sugar and vanilla. I added a bit of green food dye).

Next up... Alice in Wonderland. Hoping to get lots of "queen of hearts" type stuff post Valentine's Day.

Anyone else planning any fun "countdown" type stuff?
