August 2014 watch

Not in reference to that business because of previous issues with them it sounds like.

I think the only issue has ever been with clients advertising the agency. And that isn't the agency's fault.

I agree, but that's not what it sounds like happened. It sounds like agency reps were having the issues. But either way, that's what the DIS rules are.

What exactly do you mean by the reps were having the issues? I am curious if this is just an impression you have or if you can cite a real example. Because I am pretty certain that the only "issue" is advertising by clients.

From the limited amount I've seen (that wasn't deleted), I have not seen any "advertising" from clients. Just folks mentioning they used the agency and it went well. I understand the ban on advertising, but even independent folks referencing that company seems to be frowned upon. That's why I've asked if there are any examples of these issues or rules violations. I have not seen any (yet).

That's what I meant by "advertising" by clients. Not advertising in the true sense. Just Disers mentioning good experiences. I just think we skate on thin ice when we assume that there is some other issue that doesn't seem to exist. I need to have proof that someone violated a rule before I believe it.

Again. The only thing I have ever seen is clients speaking highly. I am waiting for aaarcher86 to come on and say what she feels the "issue" is that regarding agency reps that she spoke about in her post.

If anyone knows of a reputable travel agency will you kindly PM me?
We had a rough year this year we need a break from it all.
I do not have patience to do this on my own and would rather hand it to a pro yet if I go right then I should have turned left so I would rather go on a recommendation.
Many Thanks!

Just noticed that August is the only month so far to not have ANY special events listed, at all. No concerts or happenings. For me , Disney has plenty to enjoy even without them, but I'm just wondering, from those who have traveled in August in the past, if they have had extra things going on in the past prior to this year, and if you think maybe they'll add something.(summer concert series extended etc.)

Also, prior August travelers, still wondering what your experience has been with crowd levels the fist two weeks. Just wondering...Thanks!

My husband and I went the 2nd/3rd week in Aug back in 08. We still thought it was a bit on the crowded side. It wasn't overwhelmingly.... but we didn't really get to the parks early. Maybe if you did that, it would be ok. Is it ever not crowded? I would really love to know - lol.

We were there the first week of August last year and it was pretty crowded. It was our first trip so we dont have much to compare it to but if I remember correctly, they were marked as "8" & "9" level days. We were testing FP+ and could still use FP- so it did not affect us at all. Hoping for lower crowds this year the last week of August! :)

We always go the last week of August - it's a very slow time there because so many kids are back in school. Our school doesn't start back up until early September.

It looks like I am joining you all waiting for August discounts. We just decided to go today. Dh can't come, and it will just be the kids and I. I *think* we'll be going for a week in the later half of the month.
I have gone the last week of August several times and can't for the life of me remember when discounts start to come out for that time frame. I think it was May maybe? The current offer ends April 30th so hopefully we see something at that point. Though, if I am remembering correctly, the first summer offers don't usually include the late August discounts and we might have to wait longer for those.
This trip has a tight budget, so a decent discount would mean the difference between a value and a mod for us.

I could use a discount too. We are almost all paid for this trip.. Using no credit cards this trip.. Yikes!!

planning on going down at end of August. We are bring our 2 girls for their first trip to disneyworld. We are on a tight budget and this is a once in a life time trip so we are looking for any deals that will help like room discounts and food plan stuff.

1. Work with a reputable travel agent. It's his/her job to find those discounts.

2. Keep an eye on www.mousesavers.com They're great at tracking the latest deals and discounts.

Well it looks like it will be August for our next trip. I thought by now DD wouldn't want to 'do' Disney anymore but she is asking to go back.

Earlier tonight I thought it would be the last week of August but just found out that DD has to be at open house on the 26th so we need to get back before that day.

Going to book tonight and hope for either a discount code or free dining.
