august 2013 codes for rental cars?

Well, I randomly just found Thrifty for our dates at 251 (Aug 15 to 24 at Tampa). Booked it (full size). Anyone have any experiences with Thrifty? I really prefer Alamo and being able to select our own car.

I'll tell you, I do like Alamo as well, but there web site is a complete mess! It's horrible. Always getting errors when entering coupon codes. I even refresh the web page and clear the cookies, and still have the same issues. Right now, I have the best rate with Budget for a standard SUV for the week is $240. We're picking up the rental from the Doubletree which is in the DD area. Alamo's price is $300 for the pick up at the Car Care Center at the MK. Our trip is coming up in two weeks. I still check everyday. :coffee:

I have the car for 7 days, July 28 to Aug 4 and the complete price for a full size was $152 with Dollar (AAA); $162 with Enterprise (Costco)

That was what I got last week. Before last week I was getting prices around $230 and up..........When I looked a few minutes ago Dollar is now $218 and Enterprise is now $268.

Just keep looking.....prices are constantly changing up and down

If you compare my 14 days for a fullsize car at Dollar ($287) with your 7 days ($152) then I probably am not going to do much better than I have already. I might as well relax. :cool2:

My rate with Alamo went down slightly today from 162.00 weekly base for a std to 141.00 base. Hopefully it will keep going down because I missed out on the great Dollar rates.:confused3

I just picked up a standard car (Alamo Insiders + free upgrade) for 14 days Aug 14-28 for $284 all costs in.......best price yet!:woohoo: If what people on this thread are saying is true (that renting a standard car at MCO is the same as a full size since they have no standard cars at Alamo) then I am doing good!

So much for relaxing, I guess! :confused3

Just got Alamo down to $285 for 14 days (10-24) with the Insider's Discount and a free upgrade from midsize to standard.

I have a question though. My email conf has the car listed as a standard, but when I view the res on line it lists it as mid size. No mention on the paperwork of the free upgrade, but the car class is there. Am I being paranoid to worry about the upgrade? I already cancelled it and re-booked it because I thought it'd missed the upgrade, but I see in the new ressie it still says two different things--one in my email and one when I view it online.

Oh, I see anorman just got the exact same deal for a few days later...Curious anorman if your confirmation says the same thing?

Me too. Just print off your e-mail and bring it with you to pick up your car.

I still can't get anywhere close to that:confused3 And my dates are almost the exact same as yours...what am I doing wrong???

Yesterday when I checked Alamo, I was up in the $400's for the same car. Check again tomorrow at your 19 day mark (which is what today is for me)! You might see the same as I have or hopefully even better. Don't give up!

Yes it does. I think last year it did the same thing when I used the free upgrade but i had no problem at the desk when I picked up the car. Actually I ended up with another upgrade in the pickup garage and drove off in an SUV! I wouldn't worry!

So....here's my breakdown for this morning (8 day rental, picking up the 23rd and dropping off the 31st):

Alamo = $342.53 midsize SUV w/Insiders discount and $30 Visa coupon
Thrifty = $357.88 midsize SUV
Dollar = $302.94 midsize SUV
Budget = $318.41 standard SUV (Entertainment Book rate + $25 Ent. Bk coupon)
Enterprise = $325.18 standard SUV (Entertainment Book rate)

For Budget and Enterprise, the standard SUV was cheaper than the midsize (or midsize was not available at all).

Current reservation is with National using KLM Flying Blue discount + $30 coupon from the Entertainment Book, for a total of $245 for a midsize SUV, so these still have a way to go before they match it.

Also still sitting with my full size reservation with Dollar for $167.

I will thanks! Yeah, it's definitely the date and not the pick up and drop off times as I plugged in your dates and got the lower rate. Here's hoping 19 days out it will come thru...only problem is that tomorrow we are having a huge adoption partyparty: with about 90 people expected..I will need to sneak away ;) to check the rates:rolleyes1

I'm sitting at $161.38 with the $30 Visa coupon for a Standard with Alamo for 8/25 1am pickup and 9/2 7pm dropoff. I'm hoping it will go down, but I'm happy with it if it doesn't.

Good luck!

I'm seeing some movement over at Enterprise today matching some rates they had posted early last week for early August. Not quite as good as Dollar was then, but slightly better than Dollar now. As I mentioned a day or two ago, they're also showing Large SUV for $324/$414 a week and also convertibles at that rate. Both of those are usually much more expensive.

question to all you car rental experts... (I have only rented for one day at time and have only done this twice ).... but now I am looking at a 1-2 week rental and my question is regarding pick up time ...

Are you better off being a bit earlier for your pickup time or a bit later for pickup time.
I am having a hard time to be accurate with pick up time for now as depending on flight and crowds to pick up luggage ,etc,, etc,,,,.
