august 2013 codes for rental cars?

So....here's my breakdown for this morning (8 day rental, picking up the 23rd and dropping off the 31st):

Alamo = $342.53 midsize SUV w/Insiders discount and $30 Visa coupon
Thrifty = $357.88 midsize SUV
Dollar = $302.94 midsize SUV
Budget = $318.41 standard SUV (Entertainment Book rate + $25 Ent. Bk coupon)
Enterprise = $325.18 standard SUV (Entertainment Book rate)

For Budget and Enterprise, the standard SUV was cheaper than the midsize (or midsize was not available at all).

Current reservation is with National using KLM Flying Blue discount + $30 coupon from the Entertainment Book, for a total of $245 for a midsize SUV, so these still have a way to go before they match it.

Also still sitting with my full size reservation with Dollar for $167.

Midsize SUV down to $330 today with Alamo. Still a long way to go, but moving s-l-o-w-l-y in the right direction. I am beginning to think, though, that National is going to be our winner. Less than 4 weeks for me.

Alamo down for me too, and I arrive in 13 days. For a standard for 9 days, I am at $159 now!!! Never used Alamo, but for that price, I am happy to give it a try!

I have a question about the Alamo insiders. I checked in and entered all the info including my info as a free second driver. When I got to the end, my total went up because now they are showing an additional driver fee. It said it was free. Will I be charged for that? I don't really need to have it, but just figured since it was free I would just add it just in case.

Just reposting this just in case someone who knows didn't see it last night.

That IS a phenomenal price......breaks down to just $17.67 per day. I am currently holding what I thought was a great price of $284 for 14 day rental of a standard size car with Alamo which is $20.28 per day. I'm going to keep checking! 18 days and counting! :dance3:

Alamo prices for my dates (8/3 AM - 8/12 PM) have come back down to the lowest I've seen them - $179.65 for 10 days. This is the Insiders discount with the $30 Visa code. That's a weekly base rate of $113.97 and a daily rate of $16.28.

I last got this rate on 7/17 and on that day only - with up and down bounces over the course of the day. That's 17 days out and now again at 7 days out.

I am holding a 2 day Alamo for $115 for a premium. Just to get back and forth from Sanford. Dropping off and picking up and swan and dolphin. However today for $225 all in- I was able to secure a standard thru dollar for 8-30 thru 9-7. Holding it as well. That's the lowest price I've been able to find so far. For $110 more we may go dollar and keep the car the whole time. It would be more convenient.

When I go in to the VISA website to check that code, it says it is expired and they offer only a $15 discount code with Alamo now. I would hate to show up at Alamo only to have the code refused when I could have gotten the free upgrade instead. :confused:

First, coupon codes are not like corporate codes -- rental car companies seem to correctly apply expiration dates for coupons that have them. If it accepts a coupon code, there's no reason to think that it's invalid. (If you aren't a Honeywell employee and use the Honeywell corporate code, the web site won't check but the person at the lat might.)

Second, did you find an expiration date for AD2338FDF that is before your rental? The coupon currently on the Visa website may be their latest promotion but it doesn't mean the "old" coupon is expired. Other references on the web indicate that AD2338FDF is valid for rentals through 12/31/13.

When I checked it last month there was a pop-up on the VISA site that said it was expired. Given what you said, I checked again and everything came up roses! :goodvibes I now have a full size car rented with Alamo using the VISA code and Alamo Insiders for $270 which works out to $19.28 per day. I may have a keeper! :thumbsup2......but I will keep checking all the same ;)

If you made the reservation using the Insider's log in, the add.driver should be free. If you did not, it is going to charge you.
Remove the add. driver, if you can and wait till you get there and speak to someone at the counter, or call them and see if they can adjust it for you.

Great! And you should definitely keep checking. This morning, rates were back down to the lowest I've seen for my dates. (Base rate of $114/week for Standard.) Right now, the total price is $235 (base weekly $151.35) vs. $180. (My dates are 8/3 AM - 8/12 PM.)

For those of us who need a bigger car (6 or more passengers), the minivans are now available at National and Alamo (they were gone for a long while) but the prices are through the roof! Looks like they are now pushing the fullsize SUVs instead. I was able to book a big SUV Aug 1-12 for 589$ with the Insider's rate and the 30$ coupon. It's almost as good as the minivan I booked a while ago with the KLM code at National (541$). I'm hoping the price will still go down a bit until Thursday (woohoo, we leave in 5 days!) so we'll see :)

Any Luck?

Just checking now and I got 321.80 for the 2 weeks for a std with Visa coupon and code...I will get back my 10% commission off the base, so $294.68 all in. I can live with that but I will keep checking...Think I missed the lower rates this morning:confused:

Down $15 from yesterday using Alamo Insiders and VISA coupon. It does pay to check every day!

The lowest rate I got (so far) was yesterday at the 18 day mark.....$270 for a full size for two weeks with Alamo using the Insiders discount and VISA code. Hang in there.

I hope you had a good day yesterday!:)

Little to no change to rates this morning for me for both Dollar and Alamo :surfweb: . Will check again later today.

I'm happy with 3 day Labor Day weekend rental of mid size for $63. I used Alsmo Insiders and $10 of weekend coupon.
