august 2013 codes for rental cars?

Last 12 days of August/early sept: Alamo Insiders discount with VISA coupon AD2338FDF for $30 . Good luck!

I'm going in Sept, but have been watching this thread for codes I might be able to use. I just combined the Visa coupon AD2338FDF with the Alamo Insiders and the Costco ID 7014627 and got a standard for nine days (Sept 14th-22nd with 12pm pickup and 5:00pm drop off) for $224.42.

Last Sept I got a midsize for $123.00, so am hoping prices continue to drop.

We are going to DVC at Aulani on Oahu in August and I've been watching for AGES for something to break for the week we are there. The Costco rates are laughable ($335-350ish for a week in either a mid to standard size) and the KLM codes were no better. I got an email yesterday for Hotwire that looked promising but I didn't know which agencies they use so I decided to try a Priceline bid because I know which agencies they use. JACKPOT! My $15 / day bid was accepted which is a better rate than what I HAD been seeing. I got a "standard" for 7 days for $192.25 with taxes & fees at National (my 1st choice agency).:cool1: My previous "find" that I had reserved was for a "mid-size" for $226 at Alamo. So I saved $34 and upgraded to a slightly larger car in the process. Still a lot but too late to do anything about it now. So NOW I need to nail down a decent rate for 4 days on Maui (which appears to be running a lot higher.) Best I have found there so far is $31 / day + taxes & fees for a mid-size.

Yay! Rates are dropping again for lots of us it would appear!:cool1:
This is what happened last 4th of July weekend. I believe I got my lowest price on the 4th (our trip dates were the same last year) so I will keep watching. It never did get lower than this for me than this 6 week out time frame last year.

I checked this morning.. 9 day rental for a Standard car.. $206.05:banana:

I have a National reservation for 413 for my dates and another at Dollar for 366.

I wish my National one would drop like you all are seeing but it's been steady at that rate since I booked it a couple weeks ago.

Tampa rates are still steady at HIGH :guilty: Have an offsite ressie for a decent price, but since DH is traveling this week and had an offsite rental, he has vetoed it as too much of a hastle with the kids. :rolleyes1

Here's hoping I can do better than the 306 with National with the KLM code & BJs coupon.

Thanks for the info - I'm heading over to the beach tomorrow for the holiday - set myself a reminder to check again on the 4th!

Now I'm checking every hour for more drops:rotfl:.
So far holding steady at the $206 from this morning. I'd love to see it go under $200. I budgeted $200 for a car, so $206 isn't bad but it will work out to higher than that with the exchange rate. I'm happy with it but would love to stay under the $200 goal with exchange.

Why did Alamo jump $200 on a standard rental for two weeks? It was $466 and now it is back up to $670!

These price drops typically only last a few days. You get them while they are down because they can go back up in the same day.

Mine all went up as well. Looks like I checked a couple of hours too late :worried:

Hopefully they will go back down sometime either today, or over the weekend. I will just keep checking :goodvibes

I wish I could see prices going down for me (aug 1-12)...
Unfortunately, prices are NOT going down AND they seem to be running out of minivans for that time since both National and Alamo don't show any minivan anymore and I absolutely need one for my bunch :) I'll keep looking but I'm very glad I booked with the KLM code a while ago and I got 541$ for 11 days :thumbsup2 Nothing comes close to it yet.

Mine went up today as well. But glad I was able to grab a lower rate yesterday. Keep checking...even up to and including the day of rental. A friend checked hers before she left home for her flight and it went down by about $40.00.

Just got a standard for $200.47 on orbitz for ten days. Aug 18-28. Happened to jump on and punch in our dates.

Just checked Alamo for my dates 8/31-9/8 and was able to book at $191, happy it's finally below $200. I used the visa code and logged into my insiders account. Thanks for the heads up! Still hopping for low 100's.

Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I put in the same dates and got a cost of over 400!

Just checked Dollar City Special and my rate would be $191 vs the $206 I have with Alamo.
I'm leaning towards keeping the Alamo because I get to pick my own car and use the kiosk. I've never used Dollar so I don't know anything about the quality of their cars etc.
Does anyone have experiences with them they could share?

Hi Pigletto,

We have pretty much used all of the major companies and I find little to no difference among them. I always book the least expensive car, no matter which company, and I've never had an issue yet.
