I cannot find any week in August for less than 400. What am I missing?

All of a sudden when I log in using my Alamo Insiders info, the Insiders code isn't populated anymore. It used to show up, but not anymore. :confused3 Any ideas?

Thanks!

Try national with contract ID xvc1092. It's a legit ID from car and driver magazine. There is a coupon for a free weekend day that I don't know off hand. (Sorry I'm at work) but I bet you could find it on mousesavers

Car Rental Savers showing Thrifty and Dollar at $94 to $99 + tax depending on type of car. Was able to grab full size for 2 weeks $286.

I cannot use this because the car size doesn't work for us due to luggage space but Dollar extended their SUV discount for pick up until Sep 30, 2013
$189 for the week not including tax

Code 5CO6M

What are your dates? I checked 8/10 to 8/26 and got a rate of over 270 per week!

Alamo and Dollar just dropped again for me:banana:.

I am now at $190.95 for a fullsize car for a 9 day rental with Alamo.:goodvibes

This is using Alamo Insiders and a Mastercard coupon for a free day .. AF2604JDN from August 23 to September 1st.

ETA) I just found my rental info for last years reservation. I had it down to 178.00 for a fullsize for 11 days with Alamo. So it may go lower this year.

Ugh.....decisions, decisions!!! :confused3

Dollar is down to $165 for my dates for a full size car.

My SUV rental with National is $245.

We don't really "need" an SUV, but its what we drive at home and are most comfortable in.

That said, $80 saved could be used for something extra on our vacation.

Oh, what do to, what to do?

$190 full size with dollar. Used them last june when we went. No issues, but decline the sun pass if they ask, its like a $70 charge for something thatll cost two bucks. Aug 18-28.

I know.. tough call isn't it?!
We do fine in a fullsize. I know with Alamo they are mostly Impalas and the trunk is very roomy. I think you would be ok. Many times people say there are other things in the row when you go to choose as well. I know there was an Altima there last August but no SUVs or Minivans so that would just be luck of the draw.
If you plan on doing a ton of driving I'd probably stick with the roomier vehicle. My tallest kid is only 5 ft 6in so it's not as big of a deal for us.

Can you use the Visa $30 coupon (AD2338FDF)? I get $183.14 for a fullsize for Noon to Noon, 8/23 to 9/1. (1 Week + 2 Days) (And I get $198.51 with the MC Free Day coupon. Weird!)

Unfortunately I paired down my credit cards awhile ago and closed my Visa and kept Mastercard for the better rate:rolleyes1

I am renting 6pm to 6pm. Where you are seeing the discrepancy is because I am *technically* renting a standard size car. But Alamo does not have standard cars at MCO, so whether you choose Standard or Fullsize you get the same cars to choose from. Just a little trick to save a few more dollars:)

$174.66 for a Standard with Alamo. 8/22 10 am to 8/31 7 am.
I signed in as a Insider and I used the ViSA coupon (AD2338FDF).

We drive a full size SUV at home. But, for WDW, when we only have 4 of us going, 3 adult sizes and a DS12, a full size car works well enough for us. We LOVE the emerald aisle and have been blessed with larger cars on several occassions.
However, when we have 5 in our part, we stick with an SUV. Our experience has been that Alamo has given us the car in the best condition for the best price. National has nice cars, but their SUV price never seems to be close to Alamo. We rented with Dollar twice and were disappointed in their upkeep on their car both times.

A big part of why we rent a car is to be comfortable going home from the parks. We're hot and sweaty and the last thing anyone wants is to be jammed right beside someone, so an SUV is what works best for us. However, also remember that it's not just the difference in rental cost, it's also the difference in the amount of gas it uses.

I would hold onto two reservations for a bit longer - the SUV price may still come down.

I got the same rate for 8/25 1 am to 9/2 7 pm. I was going to pick a car up at the CCC on 8/28 and drop off at MCO on 9/2, but those rates are still too high. I'll just pick up it when we land and keep it all week even if I won't use it. Just need it to get to the Port and then back to MCO after our cruise.

Just checked Dollar City Special and my rate would be $191 vs the $206 I have with Alamo.
I'm leaning towards keeping the Alamo because I get to pick my own car and use the kiosk. I've never used Dollar so I don't know anything about the quality of their cars etc.
Does anyone have experiences with them they could share?

I've had pretty good luck with Dollar, but for a difference of $15 I'd go with Alamo exactly for the two reasons you point out.

If you are looking for a one way rental from Port Canaveral to MCO or vice versa, I did find a better rate on budget . Code Y937800 and 1 car upgrade coupon UUCZ010 (must use visa for coupon).

I am holding one of as of last night. Its working out to be the same amount of $ to rent for the whole time (from an offsite company) and pay for parking at the port as it is for 2 one way rentals with no port parking charges.

Must decide what is better....

Thanks, but since I'm using my debit card, I use Alamo since they don't put a hold on it. For us, it's more convenient to park at the Port so we can leave immediately after we get through customs and head to WDW.
