august 2013 codes for rental cars?

Just got a great rate for a full size thru Alamo for August 2nd thru August 13th I used the Visa contract code and Visa coupon code thru the Visa website and got a total of 268.38 which is the cheapest I have seen anywhere

Can you explain a little more for the codes used, etc? for Alamo is there an insider code or if you are signed up for it and sign into the website the insider discount is automatic added? If there is a code would you mind sharing what it is?

Also the AF codes you listed which box do they go into?

I am still getting over $500 for Tampa Aug 10-17, 2013 for a minivan, my budget code is still better

Thanks

There is an insider code that is automatically populated when you sign in to your account (top right corner). That puts it right into the Contract ID box. Then the coupon code will go in the coupon box, and you type that in yourself:)

ETA.. I tried it with your dates for Tampa and it's still $560 :(. It has to be that Tampa is high for those dates.

Thanks - I thought I was doing something wrong since the prices are higher but I guess it is just Tampa. I am happy with my $370 price for 8 days (due to pick up / drop off times) for the minivan including tax. If I get something lower that would be great but if not that works. The car rental is actually $270 it is $100 in taxes and fees, which is crazy

They are posted on the visa site. I googled visa alamo discount and it was the top one on the visa site. I'm sorry I didn't write down the code just trying to give others a heads up it came down ALLOT from when I first started checking a little over a month ago.

Just got a quote of 334 from Alamo for a standard size for our 13 day trip using Alamo insiders and the Visa coupon from a poster above (Thanks!). I hope this is not the lowest we will end up with, but it's still much better than what we've been seeing.

Save up to 20% and receive $15 off when you rent any size car in the United States, Latin America and Caribbean and pay with your Visa® card. Requires a 3-day minimum rental with a Saturday overnight keep. To redeem this offer, click the Redeem button to book online or call 1-800-462-5266 and request ID 7015504 and Coupon Code AD7394SDJ.

There is all the info from the visa site I used. Hope it helps a few.

To above poster that combo from visa ended up being cheaper than the insider code I tried first of mine.

I know this has been debated many times on DIS but if you are willing to try the VROOM VROOM contract ID of 299851 and coupon code of AD2338FDF with Alamo, these seem to give me the best price thus far. $204.20 from 8/20 to 8/27 for Fullsize Impala with pickup and drop off at MCO. I'll continue to watch but this is the lowest so far. But I will surely have a back up reservation in case these codes get rejected for some reason. For those looking for minivan and standard SUV prices, they came out to 258.26 and 259.42 taxes in for the week just for a comparison. If anyone has successfully used the VROOM VROOM code recently, a quick reply would help us all out. Good luck all!

I have an 8-day rental with National for $245 taxes in using the KLM code and a $30 from the Entertainment Book. This rate includes all the extra insurances that the Vroom Vroom code provides, and there should be no dispute for the code as the Flying Blue program is open to anyone (all you need to do is sign up online and you are emailed your membership number).

Dollar is still hot on the heels of National, and is sitting at $249 taxes included for the same dates (August 23 to 31). This is using the AAA/CAA discount code for our region.

So there are other options out there other than the Vroom Vroom code that you should be able to use with confidence :thumbsup2 .

Alamo rates for my dates are still super high  . Double what my current National reservation is. Glad to hear some other August travellers are starting to see a decline for their dates, though!

Just changed my reservation:rolleyes1. I switched to the Mastercard code.. because once I typed that above I realized I closed my Visa:rotfl:

So.. I used the Alamo Insiders Contract Code and the Mastercard free day code (AF2604JDN) and my new total is 235.18

Just updating. Alamo just dropped again. I'm at $221.16 with the same details as above for a 9 day Standard rental.

A week or so ago I got a luxury car through Alamo using the Vroom Vroom and Visa codes (AD2338FDF) for a total of $234.50. August 21-28. Pickup at Orlando International at 11:30 am and drop off at the airport at 7:00 pm

THANKS!!! Booked it (minivan). Phew. Now just a waiting game to see if it drops. :cool1:

For the record:
Alamo, insider code, visa coupon AD2338FDF, 7 passenger mini-van. Aug 31-Sept14 (2 week + 1 day) = $703

Hi.. I just ran your dates out of curiosity. A minivan at Dollar for your dates using no codes, but clicking on "City Special" is coming in at $619.32. I just did noon to noon as I don't know what your actual times are.:)

My Alamo just dropped again from 306. to 285. 12 days standard.:goodvibes:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

Can I ask what dates and codes? :confused3

The lowest I have been able to snag anywhere is just under $400 8/9-8/22 PU & Drop off @ 4:30 PM Orlando. :badpc:

Thanks

Just updating--I used the KLM code and have a standard car booked at National Aug 10-24 for $440. I just got it down to $390 for a midsize at Dollar with a city special and a code from Mousesavers (5C11M, doesn't cover all sizes, but there are a number of them there, and the code is open through the end of Sept). Usually city specials are as good as it gets, so I was surprised. I haven't cancelled the one at National yet, though; I like all those extras, and I haven't yet confirmed all the coverages with credit card/insurance co, so for now I have two ressies. But $50 saved is a bagful of stuff at one of the outlets, or a keychain in the theme parks. ;)

Thanks for the info Gina Bo Bina. I used your codes for KLM and $30 of and got the price down to $204 for a midsize (had a full size with VROOM VROOM)using seemingly more legit codes. I don't have an entertainment book though so not sure if I can get away with that one. Might have to pick one up. I'm certainly willing to pay the $204 but I've been to MCO in sept/oct 2010 and dec/jan 2011/12 and I got a car each time for less than $100 for a week each time using Alamo and the Visa codes. I'll keep watching also (seems like we'll be there at the same time) and if find anything cheaper, I'll keep you posted.

Just got it lower again from Dollar. 8/20/13 - 8/27/13 for Standard size for $187 taxes in. Have to go through Dollar.com not .ca though. Click Specials tab and search specials. Select 15% off special. Only applies to cars up to premium though.
