Another team august family checking in! Just got back two weeks ago from an adults only trip to BC and we weren't going to go back till 2013, but then the 30% off code for the end of august came out and it fits with my son's last week of summer vacation so.... the rest is history! The best part was it was my DH who is pushing this, I totally converted him.

We're still in the VERY early planning stages. We will be staying at AK CL, even though there is a slight chance we may change to BWI CL. Not sure exactly how many days we will be there or what days exactly, still trying to figure out the best prices and how to use our vacation days at work most effectively. Probably will be 5 to 7 nights, with the first two nights staying at the La Quinta Oceanfront hotel in Cocoa Beach and the last 3-4 nights in WDW. Can't wait! Let's keep this thread rocking all summer to keep us all excited and give us a place to talk Disney because my friends and family don't want to hear it anymore!

So funny my friends and family don't want to hear about Disney anymore either. I come to the disboards multiple times a day talk about Disney. Everyone on here keeps me excited and looking forward to my Disney vacation.

ME too!!! In fact I don't even think I will tell anyone except my close family where we are going. My coworkers and friends think we're nuts for going to WDW twice a year, but whatever. I don't say anything when they go to Vegas twice a year!

This will be our 7th August with free dining! I'm proud to say that we were a part of the 1st 2005 FD, back when the gratuity was included AND we got appetizers as well as dessert. We have always booked bounce backs.

We LOVE our August Vacations.

We will be at POR in a new Royal Guest Room from 8/28-9/6! Can't wait to be home again! My DD has a countdown app on her phone that's telling us there are 114 days left before we leave. Why does that sound so depressing? LoL!

I can't wait 30th anniversary for me and DH. DD(21), DDFiance(21) , DS(25). More of a spread out relaxing trip for us. We have not done a family trip in years. Bounceback with FD from DD(21) and my Poly trip for her birthday last September. DH not quite as excited as the rest of us. Ressies are all set, since Feb, Air booked. DH and I are driving down just like we did for our honeymoon. Sappy I know......

I'll be really honest here....this will be our 3rd August trip. We normally go the 3rd full week in August for FD, however, this years FD starts after our kids are back to school. Lines are normally not too bad, but as with most of the popular rides you will have a wait. Use FP's as much as you can. Some rides probably won't require them. Now for the not so fun thing about an August trip.....it is hot as he**! You will pretty much sweat from the time you walk out the door until you come in at night. Photos from last summer show the five of us just sweat filled. Gross I know but that's just how it is. It's humid and sticky and you can/will be miserable at times. The rain does nothing in the afternoon to cool it off. We take insulated water bottles and each of us have water fans. Our littlest was still in a stroller last time (probably this summer too) and I got him a battery operated fan to just have on him. We also have a huge sunshade attached to the stroller which helps a lot.

DH and I said after last year, that would be our last trip in August....ever! It's just too dang hot, however, the savings we are getting from his government offsite lodging discount and the Y.E.S Disney program for discounted park tickets made us rethink our "No more August trips". For $1300 we will do a 7 day Disney trip again in August...yes sir we will (park tickets and lodging for the five of us)!

I hope I don't scare you off an August trip. I remember our June trip was pretty darn hot too....but that was 13 years ago. Disney is awesome no matter what time of year. If someone told me Disney was only open in August you better bet our family would still vacation there during August. Hope this helps.

We just decided on our August trip this week...one of the first things my DH said to me..."guess I am going to lose my wife for the next 3 months to the disboard."

Funny story...last summer I had a green mickey head attached to my book bag. DH was wearing it in MK while I took the kids on a ride. A fellow DISer came up to him and said something like "so you dis too". My DH was like what?? The DISer guy had to to explain what the green mickey head was to my DH. Dh jokes with me all the time about the Disboard being a Disney cult.

My friends and family think I am nuts too, but they sure don't have any problem asking me for hints when booking their trip.

Okay a few suggestions/comments:

1. I see you have a ?! behing Test Track; is this because of it's scheduled referb? My kids are so sad it will not be open when we are there. Does your ? mean it could open sooner than the fall??

2. Pick a pearl was so awesome. I actually got a silver pearl last year. My DD got a pinkish one. She was also happy about that.

3. I am sure you are well aware of this...but in case you are not...Toy Story ride at DHS, make sure you send 1 person right away to get the FP for this. We were in DHS 2 days our last trip. Couldn't get on the first day so my DH ran to get them as soon as we got in the park about 9am!! Our fp's were for 6:30 that night! The fP's were gone by 10/10:30 am for the entire day.

Hahaha thank you for your suggestions! unfortunately i put the question marks before when everyone was unsure about the fact that test track would be closed through the summer it won't be open and i'm so sad about it!

I heard about pick a pearl through dis! i'm a student and i work part time in a jewellery store here at home so i thought doing something like this would be really exciting! i hope i get a really pretty one!

and thank you for your advice on toy story! :O wow! i've only ridden it once (2 summers ago) and i really don't remember the line up being that bad (i have a terrible memory though ) so, thanks to these boards i'll be nice and prepared for the craziness that is TSM!! (i hope!)

I heard about pick a pearl through dis! i'm a student and i work part time in a jewellery store here at home so i thought doing something like this would be really exciting! i hope i get a really pretty one!

I've done pick a pearl twice now. First time I got a pretty pinkish one I put into the clamshell necklace they have and our last trip I got blue twins! They told me that less than 1% get what I got! I made them into pretty earrings. I read on here that if you want the rarer pearls (twins, blue, black) you should pick the smallest, ugliest, hairiest ones. I did that and it worked for me!
