August 2012

:cheer2: Hey Team August!!

Im going down to The World for a long weekend in May, and although Im very happy to be hanging out w/ the hubs for a couple days on our NO KID trip, I WAY MORE excited about our August trip!:dance3:

My kids are older now (14 and 22:scared1:) but theyre so much more fun to hang around with now that I dont have to watch them like a hawk or worry about them getting too over-heated or cranky, or hungry, or drowning in the pool:rolleyes: love-love-love my "old" kids:goodvibes We're gonna have a blast while Im still young enough to have one:banana:

Hey, we're doing the same thing - no kids trip 5/4-5/7 and family trip in August :dance3:

I have to say right now I'm more excited about next week's trip - never been without our kids before and looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend :thumbsup2

Wallawallakids, My family and I will be at AoA at the same time you will be there, August 23-31. Did you request a specific theme? We requested Finding Nemo. Maybe we will see you there.

So is anyone from TEAM AUGUST going to order from a grocery service? Im leaning heavy on trying GG for the first time this year. You know, for breakfast items, munchies, and lots of bottled water!

I am planning on ordering some from them as well. We are on the DxDDP but I want to order diapers, kid snacks and water to make certain that everyone is well hydrated.

I will chime in here - my family of six is driving to Altamonte Springs on 8/4 (Sat.) and staying the night there. It's an easy driving from central NC, so we will get a cheap night at a Days Inn before we hit the parks.

Sun. 8/5 we head to AoA where we have a Cars family suite booked! I'm beyond excited - my kids all love Cars. This will be the first trip for my youngest two, but my oldest were fairly little when we were last at WDW. I did manage to get all of the to DL for 2 1/2 days in 2009 which all the boys remember pretty well.

I'll post my itinerary in more detail later, but we will be in the parks from arrival 8/5 til check out day, 8/14, when we head over to Daytona for the night (and a little beach time the next morning) before heading back to NC.

We do have ADR for Crystal Palace, Garden Grill, and Sci-Fi Dine-In.

Ok so we are staying in Art of Animation from 8/23-8/31 (getting free dining from 8/25-8/31). Of course we have to checkout and check back in, but we also upgraded to DxDP and are very excited about it. We requested Finding Nemo theme - here's hoping we get it, my kids like those pics the best.

8/23 We are arriving early morning (9:35am flight lands) check-in and lunch Raglan Road and dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse (spending some time with my Dmom and DDad who live in Florida)

8/24 Epcot day1 -B @ Akershush, L @ Teppan Edu, and D @ La Hacienda

8/25 Animal Kingdom -B @ Tusker House, L @ Yak & Yeti, D @ Maya Grill (with Mom and Dad)

8/26 Magic Kingdom day1 -B @ 1900 Park Fare, L @ Tony's Town Square, D @ Ohana (with Mom and Dad)

8/27 DHS - B snacks at park, L @ Sci-Fi, and D @ 50's Prime Time Cafe

8/28 DTD- Brunch/Lunch @ WGPE (with mom and dad) and D @ Spirit of Aloha

8/29 Epcot day2 -B @ sunshine seasons, L @ Le Cellier, and D @ Biergarten

8/30 Magic Kingdom day2 -B @ Crystal Palace, L @ Liberty Tree Tavern, and D @ Cosmic Rays

8/31 Departure day - counter service at AoA then Magical Express to airport.

It just seems so far away and we are so excited already. I may explode before our trip gets here.....::yes:: :rolleyes1

Hello from Ohio!!! We will be at AoA from Aug 25th-Aug 31st with free meal plan. We requested The Lion King section. This is the first trip for the family. We have 3 daughters 9,4, and 2 and they just love the LK theme. My husband has never been to the world at all and my last time there was 10 yrs ago. We are also taking my 12 yr old brother!! Cant wait!!!

Hello team August!!! Our first family vacation to the World! Dh, me, ds11,dd9,ds5 and ds3! We are staying at Asmu Aug 6 to Aug 14, but our vacation begins on Aug 5 when we get on the Auto train! We are so excited and I can't stop shopping for this trip. :cool1::banana::dance3:

Hi there! We'll be staying at AKL from Aug 26-31. This wait is driving me nuts! It can't come fast enough! DS3 is so excited too, everyday he asks if we're going to WDW today...I can't wait to finally be able to say YES!!!

Hey Welcome to May 1st!! Doesnt this mean that this is the month Team August is going to hit the less than 100 day mark?!?!:cool1: AWESOME!!:cheer2:

Only 96 more days for me!!! 95 if you count the auto train!! I am counting down the days don't know who is more excited Dh and me or the kids lol!:cool1::banana::yay::dance3:

About 3.5 months right now until my stay at AOA TLK. I've just consumed myself with Disney World info and planning these past couple weeks. I think I might be driving my mom and BF crazy with all this WDW talk. :rotfl2: I keep playing the soundtracks, too.

My boyfriend had never left the state of Michigan before we started dating and I took him to Chicago, where I live. So the biggest place he's seen is Chicago (not even the big cities of MI!), and he's never been on a plane, on a rollercoaster ride, to a theme park, or really anywhere outside of the Upper Midwest! He likes watching Disney movies with me, so he does like some nostalgic stuff, and I'm hoping he finds WDW to be a lot of fun. It's really kind of like his first big vacation.

I'm planning my itinerary by EMH, which I'm sure many people do as well, but that's okay with me as long as I'm avoiding *long* lines. There are some things that I actually like the queue for, such as Expedition Everest.

We will be going to the parks in this order: DHS, Epcot, AK, and MK. I would have liked to visit Typhoon Lagoon or even Universal IOA, but we just don't have enough time, sadly. School starts right after the trip, and work ends right before it, so there's not a lot of options there.

ADRs: Sanaa, Brown Derby, Jiko, 'Ohana.

117 days left...grrr We have a countdown chain made out of black, red, yellow and white construction paper (for Mickey!) and it's taking up my entire sliding glass door to enter our deck haha...hurry up vacation so we can keep ripping the chain links off!

That's a cute idea! I don't think I have enough room or time to make a giant link, but otherwise I would have fun with that.

Someone else already mentioned watching a lot of Disney movies before their trip, and I think that's what I'll be doing as well: watching everything from the Disney animation canon in chronological order, from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Winnie the Pooh. So one movie a day. I'll be starting around late June. :cutie:

My daughter wanted to start our mickey head paint chips now and my DH was like "NO Way, it is way too early". We have our countdown going but we are only going to do a 60 day mickey head countdown in our actual house. It is way too big if you go over 60. And acquiring the mickey heads is a little obvious if you take too many at one time. She is not happy, but she is ok with the 60 mark. Since we are at 114 today, it will be a little ways off.:(

Only 31 more school days then I can spend days at the pool, days teaching the kids how to cook and do laundry and that should pass the days well. Then there is the days of the olympics, that will eat up another bit of time. Hey, with all this time I just passed, is it August yet???:rotfl2: :confused3

Yep, I posted in that thread! We do about a movie every other day. I wanted to do chronological order too but I don't own all of the movies ! blasphemy!) so at some point I'll have to borrow some from the library here and there...or just buy the rest and finish of my collection! :hyper:

This is from when we first put it up so it's definitely shorter now. Also, my goodness my dog loves to make a mess of our deck haha

June's only a month away! Once the movies start I bet it'll go fast!

That's a cute idea! I have DS's first birthday this month, DH's bday in June and DS (will be 4)'s bday in July so hopefully the planning of those will help time go back. Just as long as it slows down once we're there, right?!?!
