Thanks! It seems like a risk. I just read another thread started tonight from someone who was told its a new policy to allow no park tickets early when free dining is in the mix. A cast member posted too saying its true. Now I don't know what to believe or do!
^from KarmaLady

Would you mind pointing me to this thread you mentioned? My trip plan starts with us staying somewhere else and picking our tickets up 2 days early.

Anybody? This thread moves fast, and almost all my replies get lost in the shuffle. I posted something in the main forum as well, but am largely being ignored there too. I don't take it personally, just really looking for an answer! My trip is contingent on getting our tickets early!

Hi, Check out Cheshire Figment's thread - Everything about WDW Tickets: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1452684. I should mention the quoted section is from #15I on his list.

He is the resident DIS guru on ticketing and also works ticketing for WDW - at one of the waterparks if I recall correctly.

And you;re right - this thread moves FAST!!!

I've taken to clicking on my user name and viewing my statistics to "find all posts by elaine amj" and then clicking on my last post in the thread and reading onwards from there.

I wish there was a function on the forums to "view last unread post". Other forums I have been in have this feature but I have not been able to find it on the DIS yet. (If there is such a thing, PLEASE point me in the right direction)

How does everyone else follow along this thread?

Thank you, but yes I know about that already which is why I added the 3 days to the beginning of our trip. I'm specifically asking about what KarmaLady posted. She says she saw a thread where people mentioned they could not pick up tickets early during free dining, and that a CM corroborated it. I was asking her to point me to the thread because I can't seem to find it. On the main forum I was also asking that, but... I dunno. Nada.

Thank you for replying to me, though!

Do you have a quick/counter service plan for the parks? Just eat where you are near when hungry or make a plan for meals that arent TS?

There are certain QS retaurants that we prefer, so we like to try to eat there. These include Cosmic Rays, Pecos Bill, Sunrise Seasons and Flame Tree BBQ. That being said, we are always looking for new QS restaurants and we would have never found Cosmic Rays ribs if we had never gave it a try:)

DH loves the ribs and chicken combo there.

We went without the QSDP in September. While we didn't count exactly what we spent, we know that we would have saved money paying for the plan ahead of time. We tried to save and share at times and we would have not needed to worry about that if we had payed for the plan.

Last year on the QSDP we shared a couple of meals just because there was a ton of food. So basically we got a couple of extra meals out of it.

I am doing DDP. We did that last trip and loved it. We are looking forward to it this year. that said, i took a look at 2013 price increases and I think Disney is starting to outprice me! In 2010 I was thrilled at what an affordable vacation WDW was - now with all the price increases, it's getting more expensive every year and it looks like it could get to the point where I'm outpriced. We'll see about next year....

Ditto :)

I haven't even looked at next year's prices yet. This year the price for the QSDP remained the same but they eliminated 1 snack a day.

For my family, it's not worth it. We are just not big dessert people. I mean a cookie or and ice cream every now and then, of course~we ARE on vacation after all~ but we found that most of the time we were throwing the desserts away alot. Plus I ordered water from GG and we'll have our mugs, so we're not going to need the drinks that come with EVERY meal. So we've opted out of the DP for the last few years.

Since we don't order from GG (sometimes we hit Walmart and pick up water), last year for any meal we ate at the resort we all grabbed a bottle of water for the parks and used our refillable mugs.

Has anyone done a list yet anywhere of where everyone is going to be each day? I know Nikki did a really helpful ones of ADRs each day.

If not, I'll be happy to do one up. I'll also ask if you plan to be there for RD (so us crazy RD'ers can hunt for each other). Hopefully, this will be also helpful to arrange DisMeets!

And for those who "wing it", just post your overall vacation dates and I'll have a "wing it" list.

Just list:

Date, Park, and whether you plan to be there for RD.

I actually just finished my preliminary plan. I'm sure it will change. Once I go over things with DH I'll post. Thanks for doing this.

You need to call and get the most current information. This is one of those things that is confusing and the policy has changed several times, with some people reporting they had success and others being told they can not. It's been causing confusion for everyone.

I was able to do it in February of 2011. It completely screwed up my reservation when we checked into the Poly a few days later though. They were implementing a new system and having trouble with early ticket pick ups and package reservations.
Since that time I have seen people say they could, and saw someone post about a month ago that they could not.
PM ChesireFigment as there is nobody who knows how tickets work better than him around here, and begin a cast member he just may have the latest word on early ticket pick up.

As for the price increases on dining and room and tickets.
I priced out EXACTLY what we were looking at for this years trip and the difference is about 400 dollars. And that is with one less Disney adult for the same dates one year apart.:(

QOTD: We have adr's for 8 meals and the other eight CS meals are not planned. We will find a place nearby when we are hungry. There are a few places we prefer but not planning to trek across a whole park - will do what's convenient.

Anyone else find the Disney World site countdown wonky?? It says I have 44 days til my vacation but my countdown app on my phone and my personal calendar at home says I have 37 days to go. :P Oh well, I am going by the lower count.

As for the Question of the day...
I think we will just eat where we are. DH has been looking up Disney food (mainly treats) and we want some of all of that lol so we may try to find some of those. Also DH wanted to eat at Yak and Yeti for dinner but I'm a picky eater and didn't think I'd do so well there so I promised him lunch there. So we will go to that on AK day!

Our tentative schedule is:
8/20-MK during day, DHS for extra magic hours
8/21-AK
8/22-DHS
8/23-Epcot
8/24-Hopper day - Probably MK at night for extra magic hrs

LOL.. As many of you know I changed my reservation (a few times:rolleyes1) and I am currently waiting on a refund from Disney. It's been taking a little longer than usual so I went through my online credit card statement to see how long it has taken in the past.
Anyway, I was looking at the charges for my trip in May, and for one of our purchases at Epcot (our annual passes) it has the purchase category as "Amusement/Carnivals/Fortune Tellers" :rotfl2:

Hardly the category I would put Epcot in. My credit card company must think I spend an awful lot on carnivals and fortune tellers:rotfl:

That happens to me all the time.

This thread moves so fast! Agree, Checked this morning and now it is 3 pages later lol.

For the QOTD - We are on the free DDP and have all of our TS booked (3 sit down meals and 4 buffets), dont know if I saw them on the master list after I sent, anywho I digress. For QS we have an idea of where we want to go certain days. My sister is a super dee duper picky eater (basically likes grilled/ breaded chicken) and I am a vegetarian so we like having an idea of what is offered where - have menus printed from allears.

SENECAWOLF- can i please, please, please get one of those awesome Team August badges? So adorable! If it's npt a problem, i love the mickey and the gang background and for the names, just Heidi Lou and CJJenkins! Thanks so much! Cant wait to see everyone in August thanks to you and Nikki's creativity!

Here's ours!

8/25- no park
8/26- MK RD
8/27- AK RD (unless they extend the closing time, then we'll sleep in)
8/28- Epcot
8/29- no park
8/30- DHS RD
8/31- undecided- probably MK RD
9/1- no park

For those of you ordering from garden grocer or wegoshop, what's on your grocery list? I'm trying to compile mine now. So far the only things I can think of are:

Distilled water (for DH's CPAP)
Gatorade
Coffeemate creamer
Milk
String cheese
fruit

We buy Uncrustables as a quick breakfast or snack for our young ones. We aksi buy yogurt, presliced wrapped Motts apples, and breakfast bars. We like to get up and go and grab a mid morning snack, so this helps to take care of breakfast. Thanks for the reminder of distilled water...DH has a machine for apnea:)

last year we ordered from garden grocer and this is what we orddered:

milk
cereal
bagels
a 12 pack of water
granola bars
vitamin water
crackers
trail mix
butter

and I think that is it. My mom and I really liked GG and it does save you a ton of money. We ate breakfast in the room every morning and took our own water and snacks to the parks.
