Will be in the area Aug 22-27 for Star Wars Celebration off site, but probably wont get to the parks till family trip in november....unless I decide I just can't stand being that close and not seeing the castle. I'm at least planning to spend some time around DTD though.

We've stayed at Music several times and have never been disappointed with it. While it certainly doesn't have the theming of the higher-end resorts, it does a good job as a value. But if you're looking for Disney characters, it really wouldn't work. Movies, on the other hand, is great for that. We stayed in the Toy Story section at ASMo on our last trip, and my then-3-yr-old DS loved it! It is definitely well-themed if you want actual characters.

Otherwise, ASMu is definitely themed better than a hotel in the real world, and it has that "on-property magic" that so many of us love. Either way you choose, enjoy your trip!!

:thumbsup2

That was what I was worried about but I think I will take everyone's word for it and try Music. $180 is a whole lot more for souvenir money and we dont stay at the resort very much anyways, I think I will switch today. :woohoo:

Am I early enough for Question of the day??

What is the food item or meal you are most looking forward to???

All of the ritas in the ditch in Mexico! All the new wine bar in Italy. Think there is a theme for me.

I'm really considering switching hotel. We went to POP before and loved it, I kind of want to try something new and after looking at prices we'd save $80 to stay at Movies, or $180 to stay at Music. $180 is alot of money but I'm not thrilled about the themeing, it just doesn't look Disney-like to me.

I make my last payment tomorrow so I kind of want to decide before then.

The kids and DH were no help, they just want to go back to Disney so its on me to make the decision.

Funny thing cuz we are staying at Pop for the 1st time and I am a little scared that its going to be loud and crazy and that I'll miss Riverside- but I cant beat the price that Im gettting at Pop, and since Im paying for 2 rooms...POR just isnt possible if we want to do things...like EAT:laughing:

Im totally for trying different resorts, Im just apprehensive w/ my first value experience...hopeful but apprehensive:upsidedow

For me, I am excited to try an offsite place or two on the Universal part of out trip. Mostly excited about not paying theme park prices:rotfl:
And this sounds weird, but the single best food item of our last trip was a breakfast sandwich I had at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot! LOVED it and I meant to go back for another but never did.
I was just hungry and we happened to be there so it was surprising how much I loved it. I think for me though my favourites always end up being something I didn't build up in my mind too much.

Pineapple Dole Whip float for me, Pizza Planet for the atmosphere for my 5 year old. I know the pizza isn't anything special but Toy Story is one of his absolute favorite movies (like there were times that he'd want to watch it back to back to back!)

What is the food item or meal you are most looking forward to???

I am most looking forward to going back to LTT and getting the Colony Salad and the Ooey Gooey Toffy Dessert :cloud9:. As for the new places we are trying out, I am looking forward to Fulton's Crab house and Paradiso 37. I love seafood and I also love Mexican food, so I have a feeling I will be liking these two restaurants :goodvibes.

So apparently I have missed some QOTDs and need to catch up. Funny, I have been on everyday and still missed some questions...How'd that happen?:lmao:

First up: When do you start saving for your next trip?
I usually plan on putting the $200 deposit down on that trip right before we leave to go home on our current trip. That way we have some concrete plans we can cling to. Then we take at least a portion of our income tax return and pay a portion then we use our 3-check months to put towards more of our balance. It has always worked for us that way.

Next:Do we use our own car or Disney Transportation?
When we used to drive down and stay off property, we would use our own for everything. But since we have found the magic of staying on property, it's all Disney all the time. I will let them be my chauffeur. I have no qualms about letting them do the driving. :rolleyes1

Last: What meal or food item am I looking forward to most on this trip?
That is not easy to answer. I will be having 3 meals with my parents (one of those will also have my sister and her family in attendance), so I am really looking forward to those as I don't get to see them that often. We are trying 8 or 9 new restaurants this trip, so after hearing many good reviews on here, I can't wait to try them. And finally, we have some of our all time favs on the list, so those should be awesome as well.

If I was forced to make a list, this is what it would contain.
1) Yachtsman Steakhouse- new and heard lots of good things (we love steaks)
2)Ohana- with mom and dad
3)Maya Grill- all the family will be there
4)Teppan Edo- a family fav of ours
5)making a stop to get cupcakes at starring rolls in DHS. ;) (heard many good things and we will finally get to check it out as our breakfast- yipee :yay: )

So, I can't wait for entire trip but hoping these are the highlights for this trip. :cloud9:

POP was very busy when we went in August 2009 but I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was for a value hotel, I thought the resort was very clean and the landscaping was beautiful. The pools were packed though.

We have never ate more than a quick counter service meal in any of the parks so I'm looking forward to our breakfast at CP. We have an ADR for breakfast on our first full day at 8:05 and we wont be going to the parks the night before so I'm just as excited about the kids seeing the castle for the first time without a ton of people in the park.

Thanx thats good to hear-and Im not really worried about the pools so much, for me to jump in water I have to be on fire first:lmao: and my kids are older so if they want to fight the crowds in the pool-they can do it alone, lol. I paid for preferred but Im going to ask that we get placed as far from the pool as possible for preferred, it should help w the noise level. I REALLY want to like this place and I have high hopes...I just hope that Riverside didnt turn me into a moderate-resort snob;)

we were in a preferred in pop. I think it was at the end of the 60's. We were the last room onthe end. It was loud by the pool but it was a nice place. We were there in May 2008.

My favorite thing in world is to get in the parks are rope drop or just after. They are so magical when they are empty.

.

Hmm, hard one. I am excited that I got my ADR just now for the dessert party but not as much for the food as the location. DH is definitely looking forward to Boma, we all loved it last time. I think for me, its lunch at Kona. The menu looks cool, its going to be a great break from heat of the day. The kids however are looking forward to Ohana breakfast(me too:love:)

Had to share since one question was saving money for the trip- I began saving after last years trip, coins and dollars when I could and so far this is my stash

I have $332 in cash now and who knows is coins!! I think it probably will add up to close to $200 more by the time we leave. Before our '09 trip I saved for 4 years, coins, and had almost $900 in change!!

I am very excited to try Garden Grove (the BBQ night) at the Swan and Yak & Yeti at AK.
Has anyone tried these places? I would love to hear what you thought of them!

My off-site answer.....

We have a few we are really, really looking forward to.

One is Dinosaur Barbecue in Syracuse the night before we fly out.....have seen it on Man v Food and the boys decided its an absolute must-do. It looks divine (in a rustic pub sorta way......think a pulled pork and brisket kind of divine).

In Orlando, Olive Garden, Chili's and TGI Friday's are all favourites. Let me tell ya, there's a piece of chocolate peanut butter pie at TGI Friday's with my name on it. If I could bring back a whole one in my carry on, I would. OMG, its good.

And we are doing the Outta Control Dinner Show for the first time.....its gets rave reviews on TripAdvisor and we are very pumped to check it out.

Dinosaur Barbeque is fantastic! We had one here in Troy, until Hurricane Irene flooded and destroyed the place, but it was super popular here!!YUM!! The Pulled pork sandwich was Heavenly:angel:

ITA about Ropedrop. You get SO much done. By noon, we're done with everything we wanted to do during the day and we hi-tail it outta there as we watch thousands of people arrive(especially at MK)! Oh sure we come back for evening stuff, and I love walking around the parks at night w everything lit up so pretty. But yea, early morning...SOOOO worth it!!:thumbsup2

now this trip I am going commando on my own. I'll get in the parks at 2 and go until late then back up and early for my next day. Hubby will join me for a dinner at Epcot after his conference. I hope to hide in that same spot again. :cloud9:
