Is anyone concerned about the weather (hurricanes??) or am I paranoid!!! :confused3 49 more days

meh~I guess it's always in the back of my mind. We went in October once for the MNSSHP (2005 I think) and the night before we left it started to pour and was still pouring the next morning as we were on our way to the airport. I never witnessed wind like that in my life. Im not sure if it was a hurricane or a TS, but it had just hit and it was only the storm bands that were reaching Orlando. Being from the Northeast, Im not used to wind that strong-holy moley!! But we got outta there safely:) I remember the town car driver saying "Ma'am, this is nothing!":goodvibes

I forgot to say in my last post, we definitely decided on CBR. I sent our TA an email giving her all the details. I don't expect to hear from her until after the holiday tomorrow.

Yes my DH and I are concerned but he seems to think September is the worst month overall. Not sure where he gets his info, but that is why we chose August. He actually really wanted July but no discounts then and I refuse to pay rack rates (and we just decided on this trip a few weeks ago so we missed any old discounts that did exist, one would think there'd be some last minute deals). ANYWAY, I contacted Disney and they said if there was a hurricane warning within 7 days of arrival at their location (or mine but I'm in Iowa so thats not happening) we'd get 100% refund. I then asked what happened if a hurricane hit while we were there and they said they only had to close the park 2x in the past 35 years due to weather so things were pretty safe.

I plan on bringing ponchos anyway so hopefully things won't be too bad. I would like some sun too.

:goodvibes Think sunny thoughts! :goodvibes

46 days to go per my countdown widget on my phone!!!! :woohoo:

Yay!!!! I think our trips will overlap. We'll be there August 17 through the 28th! I'll say hi if I see you!:cool1:

the rain at disney doesn't bother me it is the rest of our trip to Key west that has me concerned but from what I've heard they just drink it out.

I was not worried about hurricane season at ALL but I feel like what I'm about to say is going to jinx me!!

I've been to Disney World exactly 20 times and I'd say at least 1/2 of those trips were in August and never, ever was the weather a problem. The rainiest trip I had was exactly 2 years ago when we went over the 4th of July, which actually worked out perfectly because I was so concerned about the crowds but the rain kept a lot of people out of the parks! :thumbsup2

Thanks for making the list! Im First:banana:
I have one month to go.........:scared1::cloud9:

You're welcome, fellow New Jersian!! I can't believe you only have one month to go!!! We'll all be there so soooooon!!

A month from right now I will be on the plane and hopefully about to touch down at MCO! I can't wait!

Last year, when we were scheduled to go during the last week in August, hurricane Irene was forecasted to hit Florida. All of us, on the boards, who were scheduled to go at that time were in a panic because of it. It truly appeared to be heading straight for Orlando! It turns out that, 3 days before my daughter and I departed, it made a change in its path. It was then headed directly for NY which is where I was leaving from. Long story short, I changed our flight to Saturday instead of Monday, booked 2 extra days at CBR, and we enjoyed a great hurricane free 10 days while our hometown was directly hit and left without electricity for many days.

Moral of the story is.....you can't predict or change the weather. Go with the flow, try not to worry and make any needed changes in your plans if and when necessary.

55 more days for us! :dance3:

Yes I am concerned about hurricanes because I am a nervous flyer and inclement weather would make me a basket case. And because ds was hospitalized on our two August vacations (once in Orlando, once the day we landed at home) and the possibility of something going seriously wrong is now obviously a big fear for me.:sad2:
I used to be pretty laid back. But 2 years in a row, the exact same week of vacation to be in hospital with a seriously ill child reminded me how quick things can fall apart. Luckily we have also had several event free Disney trips or you'd be hard pressed to get me to go back:scared:

Am I concerned with Hurricanes? Nah, well, maybe a twee bit :goodvibes. I really don't mind it when it rains or storms in Disney because people tend to leave the parks. DH and I were just there early last month right before TS Debbie and we had lots of rain the 2 days we were there. We just put on our ponchos and went about our day. I have read stories of people caught up in Hurricanes while at Disney and Disney did an awesome job making sure the guests were safe and still having a great time. This will be our third time going to Disney during this time of year and even though it is technically hurricane season, I still don't let it ruin my vacation :goodvibes.

Have to say I agree with you there. Storms while we are there won't bother me. I wouldn't mind being in our room lounging and relaxing and reading for the day. Just as long as it's smooth flying we'll be good.

Oh and p.s. I changed my resort again. Now I am running away while you all roll your eyes. Yes. That is 5 resort changes. An absolute record for me.
But blame blessedbytriplets. She pointed out the Yacht Club deal I got also included the Grand Floridian. FOR THE SAME PRICE. Yep folks.. we are going to the GF for less than it was going to cost us to get free dining at AoA.

Now.. let the teasing commence! :p

WOW..... PIGLETTO CHANGED RESORTS AGAIN.....WHAT A HUGE SURPRISE ........:rolleyes1

Lol you sound like me yesterday!! I said that to my oldest, "do you know where we will be 6 weeks from today?" She just gives me that smirk and says "gee mama where"? Honestly it never gets old!!! NEVER! And I'm still patiently waiting for my ME packet!!! One day it'll get here!

I know. It's shocking.:rolleyes1

Usually I change my mind once or twice. Even I know this is getting ridiculous. It really changed something to be bringing an extra person and try to figure out what the best room configuration would be. I was really happy with the idea of the Yacht Club but the GF does offer us a bit more room space.
We're not telling dd's friend and just surprising her.
This will be her only chance to go and she is so very excited already. I think she'll just be over the moon:cloud9:

No teasing here...I always make changes...which drives DH crazy. As a matter of fact, after reading your post early this morning, I decided to change ours too! We were paying OOP for All Star Sports and I thought it made more sense to borrow from next years points to stay at Saratoga Springs, our home resort. We have never stayed here before and we're not staying at Christmas either. We also plan to spend more time at our resort this trip, so a better choice of pools was important to me. Now our room money will go to upgrade to an AP:) :cool1:

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE!!!!!!

QOD: HOW MANY DAYS LEFT DO YOU HAVE UNTIL YOUR VACATION? :goodvibes

We have 55 days until we are heading down to WDW....still so much to do and time is creeping up on me :scared1:.

45 days!!! I can't wait. It's been a stressful spring/summer, so ending it with a trip to Disney will be the perfect vacation!

Four weeks from this minute we'll be flying over the Carolinas, on our way to WDW!!!
