****August, 2012!!!****

I can't stop thinking about my trip! It should be for 5 nights from August 19-August 24 in a Lion King suite in Art of Animation. I've detailed my itinerary down to every five-ten minutes because the fantasizing is as close as I can get for the next few months.

The countdown/Disney movie idea is cute. Actually, I bet I would have a lot of fun watching one animated film from the Disney canon a day in chronological order until I leave... which would be 1.5-2 months? Wow.

I think I change my itinerary every single day just so I can have something to plan everyday! :rotfl: DH is like, "I thought you already had this all figured out!" but I can't help it...and its always silly like, instead of leaving for DTD at 6, let's leave at 6:15 so we can go to the gift shop first and bla bla bla....because I need to be doing something Disney related daily!

I just found out that Test Track is closed while we are there  I love this ride!

My family of 4 will be Disney World bound for August 2012. We will be going from August 23rd- 31st and staying at Art of Animation. We changed resorts a time or two but I really wanted to stay at AoA since it's new and now that they are allowing free dining there, we are going where mommy wants to stay. Yeah!!! :thumbsup2:cheer2:

We will be heading to POR for our stay in a Royal Guest Room on 8/28/12 for 8 days. I just changed our resort tonight after reading about these new rooms at POR and I am so excited I could bust! :cool1:

We are hoping for a less eventful departure this year as we went the same week last year and were socked with a hurricane here in NY on the day we were scheduled to depart. Luckily, I was able to move our departure date up after seeing the forecast which also gave us 2 extra days at Disney! (who could complain about that?) As much as I'd like to be going for 10 days instead of 8 this year, I'd rather not have to deal with the stress from the weather again. We are really looking forward to trying POR. We usually stay at CBR and have become quite familiar with the layout. Hopefully we won't be too confused by the change.

It's kind of funny that you mention the hurricane because we went to Ocean City, MD last year from upstate NY and when we heard the Ocean City basically closed down a few days before we were supposed to go down there, we tried to plan a different vacation. I desperately tried to convince DH to go to WDW instead but that didn't happen. We just lost a day in MD. Oh well...at least we're going this year! Let's hope for no hurricanes this time around for anyone!!! :goodvibes

Add us to the August list. The Shades of Green Endless Summer Discount was too good to pass up. See you real soon.... August 19-26. :yay:

Add me to the list. We are going Aug 2nd-7th and it is our first trip as a family. Me & my husband have been once before in 2003 but that was before we had our son and he is sooooo excited!!! Can't wait. We are staying at POP, regular dining plan (got a free qs dining pin & then upgraded:banana:). I am working on touring plans right now. I think it is a smart idea since we basically have one day per park plus a water park. Doing ropedrops, mid-day break, and then back in the evening for fireworks, fantasmic, etc.. Anybody else out there feeling the stress? I am not sure if this is going to be the longest 3 months of my life or if it's going to be here before we know it and then feel totally unprepared. Any other newbies out there that can relate?

While I'm not planning our trip so don't have the planning stress, I am a newbie and kind of feel the same way. 3 months seems like a very long time and I'm so excited it feel like it's never gonna get here. But at the same time, looking back to when we booked, time has gone in way too quickly and before I know it it will all be over :sad2:

I can relate while I am very excited it is getting to be very stressful! This will be our first family trip dh, me, ds11, dd9, ds5 and ds3. I have made tons of lists and done many calculations I think this trip has qualified me to become an accountant lol:lmao: I am planning on doing the same things as your family minus the water park and we are doing 2 days of each park except AK. We are staying at ASMu and no dining plan. Dates Aug 6 to 14:)

Add us to August 2012. I am kinda nervous, I have never been there in the actual summer, and swore I never would be until we move there. I got a 30% off room only PIN offer though, and friends of ours were already planning on being there. We have AP's, so Mickey here we come! August 24-30. :cool1:

For a while it looked like it was going to hit Orlando but it actually missed Florida completely. It was so strange watching the news and seeing our hometown being clobbered! Sorry you missed a day of your vacation. It could have been worse. Our house had no electricity or running water for 6 days after the storm!

Less then 100 days!
Can someone reassure me August is going to be great!?! Everyone cringes at the idea and say "we went once in August and will never go again..." UGH way to make me feel good about it. Or you know its going to (insert terrible description) Hot, Crowded, rain every day... I actually started thinking of changing it:sad2:

This year I'm going with my DBF and his family, and they go for two weeks every year in August so it can't be that bad ;)

I think as long as you're prepared for it to be a bit hotter and a bit more crowded then it'll be fine. You're holiday is what you make of it, so if you choose to let the heat and crowds bother you then you're not gonna enjoy it, but if you just go with it and be positive then it won't make a difference. :goodvibes

E.g. If you're starting to get grumpy because of the heat just think to yourself, I'm lucky its not cold and raining

For my family-August is not that bad! Of course, you will never find us in the middle of a park between noon and 4. We tour in the a.m., and then have lunch somewhere outside the park, and take the rest of the afternoon off to swim at the resort, or rest, or shop -you know-just do resort stuff. Then we go back to the parks at night. Rain? yes, but it never really lasts very long and tends to cool things down a little.

Thanks, that is exactly my plan. We allowed for plenty of pool and resort time.
Ha, ha I did cold and raining for our 09 trip. It was nice but it definitly wasnt as great as it could have been. We decided August for us was better then going in fall or winter when it could be cold. We dont do cold(or cool, or even slightly chilly:lmao: Anything below 75 is too cold for me.) Ok, It will be ok, Ill keep repeating it. I know I personally will be fine, Miami in July was great for me but I am concerned with the kids dealing with it.

My DBF's little brother has been going every year in August since he was about 5 and he's been fine :) I think as long as you give them breaks and plenty to drink they'll do great, plus there's always queue lines which are out of the sun and shops with will have AC :goodvibes It WILL be fine:rotfl:

OK all, list is updated! The DISers will be taking over Disney in August!! :cheer2::
Getting down to double digits here! WOOHOO!! :cool1:

Had to see my ticker - that's all folks!
Freezing here in Western New York. End of april and only about 40 degrees! Holy Cow! It was warmer in March.:confused3
