Y'all, I'm so confused! Please help!

Ok, so we've been booked at SSR 8/20-25 for a while now, but it's not completely paid off yet. I understand that with those dates, we are NOT eligible for the FD promotion. However, if the only way to get the FD promotion is to change our dates, can we do that without being penalized? I think we can get our deposit and payments refunded, but we'd lose about $200 for the travel insurance - is that right? Or, can we actually change our dates without truly canceling our reservations? *crossing everything for this!*

I've searched the boards for this information, and I'm sure it's been asked - I just couldn't seem to find the specific info for this question. If anyone has any insight on this, I would be so grateful for your help. Thanks so much!!!

I just used my parents and paid the entire thing in full. Of course I feel like I need to run the money over asap. But there is 12 inches of snow outside and still snowing. They aren't going on our trip.

I did ask fthe CM first and he checked with GR and it was ok.

I was going to wait til Monday but it seemed like there was very limited choices this year. We wanted POR in a standard but they only had garden and river view. I'm to cheap to pay for a view room. So we eneded up at CBR. Plus my parents just upgraded so they got 140.00 worth of rewards for our trip alone.

Wow, FD starts August 25th? That really STINKS! Why so late? We were lucky enough to get a FD bounce back for our upcoming trip which starts on the 20th of August this year, but I'd be a bit upset if we were counting on this. I mean, we do a two week trip every year, and with FD not starting until the 25th, we'd miss it for half the trip. I hope this isn't a trend.

I'm hoping for BB again this year. We did book it for last year for 2 weeks starting the 18th of August. But we had to cancle because dh has some training that week. So then after we cancled they moved it to the end of September. Lucky for us we were planning on those dates we had. I will have to get a room only for our 1st night.

As long as your resort is available under the FD offer, you should be able to add the promo without any issues. You're best bet is to call the Disney reservation number and check; you will however, have to change your dates as your current dates do not coincide with the current promo dates. Good Luck!

on line now cancelling trip the late FD dates just do not work for us. If we are paying for food, we will finally try Universal, Discovery Cove, Sea World, and the other parks that are not Disney. Our last 3 trips have been Disney, I am ready for a change.

I was going to suggest the same thing....we did that last year in August, I took my son and daughter, problem is my DD fell in love with AKV and doesn't want to stay anywhere else! It really is a beautiful resort. But in seriousness we'll stay anwhere as long as we are at Disney!!

How do you rent points? Ive always wondered, and now with FD not happening {as of yet} for my dates, Id be interested in looking into this.

I'm hoping for ANOTHER one during our August trip this year. We have been lucky for the past few years and gotten bounce backs for the following year during our normal August trips. (Either free dining, room discount etc.).

Seeing free dining start this late this year has me really hoping we get another off this trip. Just takes the stress off waiting, LOL.

FD is too late for us too and honestly, a FD discount does nothing for our family of 3. We'd prefer a good room discount. We are doing US/IOA & Discovery Cove this summer too. We did US two years ago and LOVED it. We had such a great time, we really don't miss the go, go, go and ADR madness that is WDW. It was nice to sleep in, get to the parks when we wanted to, eat when & where we wanted to and the FOTL that you get staying at on on-site hotel is worth it's weight in gold. August 15 can't get here soon enough for us. HRH here we come! My BFF and her family are going to be at Disney during the same time we are at US and I'm trying to talk her into coming with us instead, but her DH is all Disney.

Best part, same resort, same room level, but free dining. No penalty. So excited! Have to say though, was on the phone for almost 1 hour (58 minutes). One big chunk of my cell minutes!

I was booked 8/22 to 9/1 at POP. Called and had my dates changed to 8/25 to 9/2 with FD @ POP. Originally booked a standard room but had to book preferred now with the FD. Was on the phone for almost an hour as well.

I think you can probably just transfer the insurance to your new dates.

But even if you can't, you stand to save MUCH MUCH more than $200 with free dining.
The DDP for your family of 6 runs about $300 per day. You're staying 5 nights, right? So we're talking about $1500 in food. Even if you lose $200 of that for making the switch, you're still about $1,300 ahead.

(And maybe I'm wrong, but isn't Disney insurance closer to $125 or so??)

Another thread has last years' promo dates from Mousesavers listed - general public codes that included the first half of August were released 5/1 and public codes that included the second half of August were released 5/29.

It's hard to wait though! I'm trying to be patient ...
