August 2012 code watch

does anyone know what kind of discount was released last year for the first half of august? Just trying to invision what I could (hopefully, mabey, possibly, miraculously) get? We plan going the week of 19th to 24th.

on line now cancelling trip the late FD dates just do not work for us. If we are paying for food, we will finally try Universal, Discovery Cove, Sea World, and the other parks that are not Disney. Our last 3 trips have been Disney, I am ready for a change.
thinking the same thing eeyor..kids want to do the Harry potter thing anyhoo so If we arnt getting any kind of disney deal we may just jump ship halfway through the vacation too over to Universal.

Last year we went Aug 18-25th w/ free dining that we booked from a general public offer in November of 2010.

I think you can probably just transfer the insurance to your new dates.

But even if you can't, you stand to save MUCH MUCH more than $200 with free dining.
The DDP for your family of 6 runs about $300 per day. You're staying 5 nights, right? So we're talking about $1500 in food. Even if you lose $200 of that for making the switch, you're still about $1,300 ahead.

(And maybe I'm wrong, but isn't Disney insurance closer to $125 or so??)

So I would make the switch.

:worship: Thank you!!!

I called this morning and spent quite a bit of time on the phone with a very lovely CM named Shakira (sp?), and she was able to help me make some major changes! :goodvibes

First, we spoke with our oldest two children (one will be a college Sophomore, and the other will be a high school Senior when we travel) - both have pre-season sports during our travel dates, so they've elected to travel with us on a separate trip in 2013. So, that makes our party of 6 into a party of 4!

Then, we changed our dates from 8/20-25 to 8/26-31! It's still 5 nights, so we're happy about that! Hopefully, the dates for Free Dining will still include the new dates once the offer is released to the public! :goodvibes

After that, we changed our resort!!! We were going to stay in a 2BR villa at SSR, but we're now going to stay at a 1BR villa at BLT! I'm so so so excited to be staying at a resort so close to the monorail system - we've never done that before, and I can't wait!

We kept the DxDP on our reservation, but once the FD offer is made available, we'll call back and change it to the basic plan and upgrade to the deluxe for much less $$$! I canceled all of my old ADRs and made new ones (at many different restaurants than before!) for the new dates. I think I did a much better job this time around, actually.

Oh! We're flying instead of driving now, too!!!

Ok, I'm done rambling now! I'm so incredibly excited that I can hardly stand to be around myself right now! :rolleyes1

Those are my exact dates! I was so disappointed when the FD dates were announced and our dates were excluded. Right now I can get POP with the DP for $2580 for 3 adults 1child.
I am really hoping to get some kind of pin or discount.

I was very disappointed that our dates were not covered too(August 17-24 at the POP). What kind of discounts can we expect for these dates? I'm hoping for some kind of package discount.

I'm dissapointed in the free dining dates too. We were really hoping to go this year but won't without a discount. The kids don't go back to school until the day after labor day but they have open houses the week of Aug 25 that I would hate to miss. Bummer for me I guess. LOL. I'm glad it's working out for others.

We went the third week of August last year (the 20th-27th) and I am also surprised that free dining is only being offered the very last week of August this year. It seems like a lot of us took advantage of going the third week of August under this deal; we went at that time to avoid pulling our kids from school as they start back the last week of August. The crowds during the third week of August last year were reasonable and low to moderate in my opinion; and part of why I am surprised that free dining is being offered so late in August is because Disney has changed value season to start earlier in August this year (for the value resorts) than when value season has traditionally started in August in past years.
An option we have been looking into is getting discounted park tickets by doing a Y.E.S. program class (they have individual enrollment classes open for the third week of August) and doing a split stay between a Disney resort and offsite hotel if Disney eventually offers a room only discount for that week, or just getting a condo through Windsor Hills for the entire week if no room only discount is offered for that week for the resort we want. There are other great deals out there to be had, so we're looking around and not giving up hope :thumbsup2

Wow, Can't believe I did it. I spent over 6 hours today revising my entire reservation so we could take advantage of the free dining.

Our reservation was originally 8nights at WL with Deluxe dining, followed by 1 night off site to visit Legoland followed by 2 nights at DVB. August 20-31st. All 30 dining reservations were made along with a rental car for the Legoland/Vero Beach portion.

Tonight I was able to rearrange everything. We are now going 8/23, doing 2 nights at DVB, followed by 2 nights off site to visit Legoland and the finishing up with 8 nights at WL, free dining upgraded to Deluxe Dining. I was able to change our airfare with no penalty (thank you Southwest). I cancelled all of our old dining reservations and made all new reservations. The only thing that is giving me a problem is the rental car. Changing the days and adding an extra night has increased the price by $200. I didn't book it yet, I am going to keep trying to get something lower.

I can't believe ALREADY how much dining has booked up! We are going 8/23-9/1 and trying to get T-Rex for dinner on 8/24 and its not available. Insanity!

Disney dining only gets a portion of available tables at T-Rex. Call T-Rex directly at (407) 828-TREX.

Good luck!

I cannot be more excited right now..:cool1:

I am a Disney Visa Member, but could not get FD for our 2BD Villa at BLT last week, so I switched to 2BD Villa at WL. However, my travel agent would not give up. And today, we were able to get back to BLT, 2 BD Villa with Free Dining for the same cost as it would have cost for 2BD Villa at WL. I am so excited! We saved over $3000 for the 7 of us!!! I cannot wait!!

Just wanted to share my excitement!!!:lovestruc

My mom recieved an email today and when I priced it online it gave the same rate we are already booked at, is there any chance if I can and give the 3 letter code there will be a discount?
