Have you ever considered renting from a DVC member to stay at AKL?

I was going to suggest the same thing....we did that last year in August, I took my son and daughter, problem is my DD fell in love with AKV and doesn't want to stay anywhere else! It really is a beautiful resort. But in seriousness we'll stay anwhere as long as we are at Disney!!

Nothing is ever a definite with Disney but the rumor is it will be free dining starting the 25th of Aug through Sept 29th remember it's only a RUMOR until it's released if your up at Midnight it will be all over these boards and on the mainpage Dreams unlimited will have their info up if indeed it is the case and it is released tommorrow for Disney Visa Card Holders and possibly the 5th for those who are not Disney Visa holders

Welcome to the 40's Club well Im not there quite yet! Lol but I will be this summer also the end of July We are doing a Disney Cruise in June to celebrate my 40th and DD's HS Graduation then possibly going in August for 7-8 days to celebrate again !

I just got off the phone...FD for DIsney Visa holders starts today! Got BC for week of Aug 25. No code, just need Visa.

Just wondering. My vacation is from Aug 19-25. If FD comes out for the GP starting on the 25th would I be able to use it for my whole trip as my last day is the 25th?

Wow, FD starts August 25th? That really STINKS! Why so late? We were lucky enough to get a FD bounce back for our upcoming trip which starts on the 20th of August this year, but I'd be a bit upset if we were counting on this. I mean, we do a two week trip every year, and with FD not starting until the 25th, we'd miss it for half the trip. I hope this isn't a trend.

Unfortunately No, FD is based on your check in date, so you would need to check in during the promotion dates to qualify for the discount.

Somebody give me hope! I've never gone to WDW without some sort of discount and the late summer FD is starting right after my planned trip from Aug. 17-24. Please tell me there is the possibility of other offers for my time frame that may come out later.

and yes...I agree..bummer on the FD being so late this year...we are planning the week before too (kids go back mon 27th here so no can do the week after)...ugh.. holding out for a room discount now I suppose. (or this renting thingy from DVC!!..would love to find out about that!)

Dont I know it! If the GP FD code ends up being for the same week, I WILL miss it as we check out on the 25th and there's no way to change my dates this year w/ the kids going back to college that week. Total bummer

There's a section under the DVC heading - Rent/Trade. I just rented points for our August vacation at AKV. People will post with points that they can't use before they expire and you can rent them for a certain price (mine was $11pp) The person I dealt with was very helpful - you should check it out

I was thinking the same thing. We booked last year for this year's trip but I hope this won't affect next year. This is the only time of year we can go and we are not positive that we can go this year yet....

I'm kinda sad about FD being so late this year. Looks like the best I can do is a room discount, which is better then nothing.
