August 2012 Car Rental Thread

If anyone is looking for a one-way rental from MCO to Disney, Enterprise is a really great rate! I used August 16-August 23, and I get a total of $162 including tax. The drop-off location is Disney Royal Plaza Hotel, which offers customer drop-off service. No corporate and/or discount coupons used!

I already have the one-way car booked from SOG to MCO from August 23-Sep 2. for $168 total. Seems like a bit of a hassle, but the way the rental prices have been, it is the cheapest way so far!

17 days for $330, that compared to around $700 for the same period...

I got this too.:cool1: would love to keep this and return it to MCO, BUT SO FAR no luck. So if we are staying at AKL, what is the best way to get back?

First time poster: I read about becoming a KLM Flying Blue Club member and joined up today. I now want to rent a car/van from National Car Rental from August 12 - 25 and want to know how to combine coupons to get the lowest rate possible. Is my KLM FBC number considered a contract ID number or what ?
When I tried to book a vehicle I saw no reference to a " passport rate " nor was there any opportunity to enter any coupon codes. The best I could do was $ 377.00 for a compact car. I have a coupon for a free upgrade NU3637ZD3 but there was no place to enter it ?
How do I join The Emerald Aisle club for free. Someone mentioned that this can be accomplished through mousesavers.com ?
By the way I`m renting at Orlando airport { MCO }

You aren't specific about the type of car you are looking to rent, but if you want a van, I don't believe you'll be able to use an upgrade coupon to get it. I think the highest category you can upgrade to is full size.

We are going to be in the Orlando area from Aug. 12 - 25 and plan on renting a vehicle for the entire time period. We are a party of 4 adults and 2 young children. One vehicle or two ?
How do I use my KLM Flying Blue membership and combine it with other available coupons to get the lowest rate possible from National ?
We are flying in and out of MCO and staying at Star Island the first week and Summer Bay Resort [ Clermont } the second week.
Any money saving strategies would be appreciated.

I would read post #123 on page #9. TandEsMommy saved alot of people alot of money. Follow her instructions and you may score a great deal.

My rental car officially came down- rebooked with Alamo this morning using the insiders discount and the $30 visa coupon (AD2338FDF) for a midsize car 8/25-9/3 for pickup/dropoff at MCO. Does anyone have a $35 coupon code that's still valid?

Grand total: $168.25

Even without the insiders discount the regular rate was still low. National is still really high for the same dates. Hope it helps someone!

Still $365 for my full size from 8/14-8/22. The best I have found is Hertz for $329. If I want to return early I can go with Enterprise for 8/14-8/20 for $150. I have to drop off at DTD.

Gosh, I am trying everything and the best I have is $530 for a mini van (6 people) for August 17-28.

YAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! They are finally dropping:cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

Just booked an 11 day car rental starting on the 23rd of August with Alamo.
206!!!

Used the 35 off coupon. Keep watching folks.. it might get even lower but I am happy with this.
Also remember that Alamo doesn't have a Standard aisle at MCO so it's always a full-size. Just a tip to save you a few extra dollars.. book the standard if it's lower.

Does Alamo have standard cars at the Car Care Centre? Would be nice if I could pick standard and receive a full-size care there too.

Alamo's price is still up there for a 7 day rental though but these codes still work. I'm really surprised how expensive the 7 day is for aug 21/27 still. It's still over 200 before tax.

Amex Code : 7014291

$35 off coupon: AD2359FDF

Enterprise is looking cheap for a 7 day rental though.

I used a BJ's membership code and my total is coming to about 177 with tax for 7 days. (lowest i've found was with the KLM/or 1234567 code on national for $203 total)

Excellent! :yay: Beat my best rate yet. Can you tell me if I need anything (coupon, etc) besides an AmEx to use the AmEx # and also if I need a physical coupon, or where the $35 coupon code comes from please? :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

You do not need a physical coupon, I used this one at the end of May at MCO.:wizard:

just book with amex to get the amex rate and the $35 is from multiple sources but I found it here; http://www.carrentalsavers.com/alamo.html

I just found a lower price with Enterprise though.

and the National 1234567 code is far cheaper than the Alamo rate for my dates. Check that one too.

Thank you! I have a reservation for National, but the above Alamo rate beats it by $35 or so :cool1: so thanks! I still prefer National, but my rate is too high - now, because of your awesome tip :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I did find that there was a decent rate for a full size through Costco for Enterprise, but it is a bit more than the Alamo rate above. Not a lot, less than $10. I can't find a decent rate through Enterprise directly though. Are you using specific coupons or codes?

So excited these prices are finally starting to drop to decent rates! :dance3:

I don't know about that one. Maybe give a call and ask? Couldn't hurt:)

To those of you useing the National Code 1234567 try adding

ND8578ADT in the Coupon Code field for another $35 off weekly rental, 5-day min and Sat nite keep required, compact thru Luxury, Minivan or SUV
