August 2011

Whoa - it's so hot in NJ today, I've been joking with my family that we're practicing for our Disney visit!:lmao: So, here's a question for you all - how is your family planning to handle the heat?

Get in, get out will be our philosophy. We're doing the DxDP this trip, so will be hitting the parks early every day, having a TS lunch, then going back to the cabin to nap. A nice early dinner, then more park time in the evening. 4 years ago we swore we'd never plan another August trip....:confused3:goodvibes

Well, I've never been to Florida in August (or any other time for that matter). I'm reminded about a time when my sister and her boyfriend came to visit us in the Canadian prairies (he us from the warmest part of Canada). We told him it was cold out and that he should do up his jacket before going outside. His response was "How cold can cold be?" When the doors to the airport opened he dropped his suitcases and did up his jacket as fast as he could.

I guess my question to you is "How hot can hot be?"

.

We'll be baking in the heat with the rest of you. Heading to CSR with my DH, 2 young sons, and the baby in the belly!! 8/28 Through 9/3!!

See you there :)

NJ here also! Wow its hot! I heard up to 100 tomorrow! I think its FLA training for sure. We've done August the past couple of trips. We just take our time. Stop for breaks and don't SWEAT the small stuff :rotfl:
Counting down till August!

I told my husband and sons the same thing. My DH comes home from work, he works outside, and says by the time we hit Florida, he'll be used to it.

I'm trying to imagine how much hotter it will be in Florida in August!

I think I've got like 9 weeks:banana:. That will fly by, right?

Anyone's kids doing Pirate's League or BBB? My boys want to do PL but I am afraid it will a huge waste of money in the heat. Their hearts aren't set on it but they would like it. What do you guys think?

Just wanted to let you all know I just posted on the Aug. Cancelation thread that we will be cancelling all of our ADRs, so if anyone needs some go check it out and PM me.

We were supposed to take all three of our girls and now the 2 older have other commitments so the trip has been downgraded to just myself, DH and DD8. We need to cut costs as much as possible and since we will be in a villa we will bring as much food from home as possible and only do 1 CS per day!

This economy is killing DH's business, he's a landscape designer and new projects are dissapearing quickly! Hopefully things will turn around and we will still be able to take our trip!

My DS7 and sister are doing the Pirate's League together, at 11:40am on our first Magic Kingdom day. I've read that the Pirate's League is very good about doing touchup makeup if it "melts" in the heat, so I'm not too concerned about it. He's really excited about it, and it seems to be pretty reasonable. I figure I'll get him a Pirate t-shirt to wear that day, rather than a hot costume...it'll be an experience!

I went ahead and booked the boys. Couldn't get exactly the same time but got the appt's for around 3. Then we'll go to Cape May for dinner and back to MK so they can walk around dressed up for a few more hours. I think we're just going to avoid that skeleton one! You can cancel one day ahead and I will do that if I think it's going to be too hot.

I haven't heard of pirate league so no we have not booked.

Hope your husbands business turns around.

Thanks for the link! That was a great review. Not sure about doing it in August though.

Going to Mexico in two weeks. Hadn't posted anything in a while and wanted to see my WDW ticker (that feels like a second home, not vacation).

Yay!

Getting to be frustrated by myself...
Switched from ASMu to POP and adding a day. Now 19th-27th (WL and POP).
