August 2011 Code Watch Lets keep each other company for the next year!!!

I think the last week in Aug is less busy since alot of schools are already back in session. We are from Canada and don't start back until around
Sept 6th so this time of year works out great for us. We went at this time last year and the wait times were never more than 30-40 minutes for any ride!

We just went from Aug 27 to Sept 5. Here in NYC, the schools didn't start until Sept 8 (it's almost always the Wednesday after Labor Day). Crowd levels were real low for the first seven days and we didn't wait more than 15 minutes for anything. The only exception would have been Toy Story Mania, which was posted as 90 minutes (and FP's all gone before 11am), but it went down (and never re-opened that day) before we ever got on line. Crowds picked up noticeably our last two days which were Sat & Sun of Labor Day weekend - which was understandable - but still not that bad.

There is a pin some people are getting for FD or various room discounts that begin on 8/14. I did get the FD at a value pin, but since our trip is at POR beginning on 8/8 I can't use it. We're still booked at rack rate.

Once the current FD booking period is over, I'm hoping that some room only codes will be offered for the summer. Meanwhile, I'm still waiting on AAA rates to pull through. AAA rates aren't great, but it's better than no discount at all.

I booked in two months ago for next August at Polynesian club level. I applied the free dining when it was released in September or whenever it was released. I would prefer a room code to dining but booked what was available.

I called this past Tuesday night to see if I had any pin codes (I haven't received any via email). I had 2. One for free dining which I already had and one for a room discount but travel dates had to be by 2/16/11. These seemed like the public codes/offers to me.

I called again yesterday and I still had a free dining pin but I also had a new pin for a room discount good thru the 9/29/11 and you have to book by this Monday 10/11. (I'm not sure if there are any black out dates.) It worked out to be a 30% code. Is this the Peter Pan Pin? I was hoping for a 40% but a 30% is pretty good too!! I saved $1,543!

Will be going Aug 21-27, 2011. Still have not made final decision on resort. Just received the 30% off email pin, so I went ahead and booked the Poly. Still pricing WL and ASM family suites with the free ddp offer too. Hoping that a 40% off deal will come out, so resort is subject to change.

I believe the free dining is available for booking til Dec 20th if you goto the site and click on specials,don't know where to find pins

AFAIK, there are no current codes, promotions, or pins that are for dates before 8/14. We're waiting and hoping for a room only code earlier in the month. I'm hoping that more discounts for 2011 will be released after the booking period for the FD is finished.

You'd have to do the math and see what works better for your family.

For us in the beginning of August, I know we're missing FD so a room only discount is what I'm hoping will happen. I really wish we could travel later in the month, but dh is a teacher and has to be back to work at the beginning of the FD offer.

For my family of 5 with 4 Disney adults, we are best off in a moderate, POR, and free dining. Last year the moderates had discounts of 30% and deluxes had 40% deluxe villas 45%, but for us needing a 2 bedroom to stay in a villa, the cost was through the roof.

Well, went ahead and booked this am. We are staying at POR Aug 19-26. Had to change our dates to get the free dining and now the kids are going to miss 1 1/2 days of school..I'm sure they will be soooo upset Saving money is more important the those first couple of days of school when they don't do anything anyway .

We're planning on August 6-12. I want a AP code for a night or two around my DVC stay.

I think it will be CBR (want to do a pirate room) and OKW. Right now we're booked at BCV but plan to switch at 7 months to OKW. Can't wait!

We looking at Aug 2-11, as #1 DS will need to be back at college around the 19th. I understand FD is NOT available, so hoping for that room only discount. If it's 40% for a deluxe, we will do Poly, but if not, most likely we will do 2 rooms at ASMu. Bummer we are paying for college for the next 8 years ! (freshman DS now, then in 4 years it will be freshman DD). Good luck all !!

We are booked Aug 26-Sept 2 w/FD at WL but keeping an eye out for room only codes,I keep reading for deluxes they usually end up a better deal.Can't wait, this will be our 1st stay on property!
