August 2011 Alamo code???

Keep chcking Alamo every so often. I have been trying to book rental for the above dates for the last four months and they have been very high. Rates finally started to come down in the last few days so I booked at thrifty with the Wild Card for $180.00 with taxes and fees included and figured I would have to liv with that. But like many I have an obsession with planning my disney vacations and can't seem to let go of anythin.

Yesterday I started checking Alamo in am. Rates were $200 + tax and fees then dropped down to $143 = tax and fees. It seemed like they were changing every half hour or so. Up then down. So last evening at 10:00 pm I got mid size for $153 which included taxes and fees. Finally something that was a decent deal. ( Although, I have rented in the past for 5 days under $100 with taxes and fees). Then this morning I they were still running the same as when I booked this deal last night. Checked back in hour and half later and I got same deal but my total now is $132 which includes tax and fees. As soon as I booked I went back in and reran the same and rates had jumped back up again. It pays to just keep checking every hou or so.

I still can not apply any coupons! The entertainment coupons have been locked out for quite awhile now!!!

Good Luck.

I agree, the prices and choices change quickly. Yesterday I was checking rates and National was accepting coupons for July, then today they are not. My Alamo rental is Aug. 12, so hoping to be able to add just my coupon at this point. 3 1/2 weeks to go. While I love National most of all, their prices can't compete with my Alamo rental.

As it gets closer to your trip the prices have been coming down so check them everyday folks.

I will...and thanks for the heads up!! :goodvibes I have 2 ressies and will have to cancel one. I have one for mini suv $244.22...and one for a mini van for $350.16. I think they are good deals but I will continue to check just in case. My dates are 8/24 - 9/3 and being I am returning on saturday of labor day weekend probably makes a difference too. I know it had an effect on airfaire!!! :rotfl:

I saw that this morning. I often will put in dates (the week before mine or the week after mine) to see what different dates are getting. While July is still high, I saw that first week of August has dropped ALOT. I'm the second week of August and my rates are still high. I did manage to snag a minivan for a total of $266 without a coupon for a week, so I don't think I'll see anything better, unless they allow coupons and I can add it to the reservation without losing my rate. I think the better rates will come out as we get closer to August with summer ending. (Just in case anyone is looking for the small minivan deal--it's gone now.)

Aww...that mini-suv deal didn't last long....i feel guilty for having a ressie on both a midsize suv and a minivan....BUT i will cancel one of them soon!! ;)

Thanks for posting! This is now my best deal I have found. Full size 11 days $239.25 total. 8/4-8/15

You are welcome! Mine bumps up nearly two more days since we arrive early on the 1st and leave late on the 12th but I'm happy for it to be under $300.

Like many of you I usually have several cars booked and cancelled before we officially leave for vacation ...if there is a better rate I rebook and cancel the prior ressie. Lately Alamo has been much cheaper for us, I am booked for a minivan using Insiders $30 coupon and my total from 8/17-8/23 is $220 and that includes taxes and everything!:thumbsup2 Not sure we will get a minivan much cheaper then that ...checked today and the minivan moved way up in price closer to $600 for the same time frame!:confused3 So it definately pays to shop around to find the right price and car for your trip! And we pick up our vehicle from MCO, much easier to just grab the car and go from there without getting a shuttle to a satellite place or even the Care Care Center near MK. Picking up and returning the vehicle to the same location s also cheaper in the long run as well!!!:goodvibes

We still have a few weeks before we go, so I will continue to search fro a cheaper price but I am happy with what I have at the moment!!!:thumbsup2

I just hope all our luggage fits in a full size car! We usually have a minivan, but the best price I found for my dates is $492. I really like National to do their emerald aisle, but I can't get a decent price ($392.) with them.

What are you doing to get these prices? I have the same dates and cannot get anything comparable.

I just check mine again and it is currently $150.99 for mid size. I have my car booked from 8:30 pm on 8/3 to 7:30 pm on 8/9./ Give me your times and I will check for you if you like. I am signed up for alamo insiders which gives you a 10% discount.

This past May Alamo has a lot of minivan in the midsize row.

Thanks for the heads up, I already had a midsize suv reserved for $180.11 (taxes included) through Alamo. Just checked and got a standard suv for $159.30. My dates are 8/28 - 9/3, I used bjs travel site to get their discount and I think a $25.00 off coupon.

Quick questions, does Alamo charge for a spouse to drive the car as well as the one with the reservations?

I was able to book a Mid-Size SUV for 8 nights at the end of August for $196.84 using the Alamo Insiders AD5691JDV coupon which is $25 off. Great rate. :dance3:
Was able to use the "Alamo Insiders" version of that code ($30 off vs. the $25 off) and tacked on the code for DVC members to get a few more bucks off. Got the Mid-Size SUV for 9 days for $218. Aug. 25 - Sep. 3

Pretty good deal in my mind.

Very good deal for 9 days!:cool1:

I saw this morning the rates for August are starting to drop. Nothing beats my minivan for 1 week at $266, but I would love to add the coupon to this. So far, still no coupons for early August. We pick up on the 12th. Still 3 weeks to go, so there is hope that the coupons will be reactivated.

Probably a real dumb question, but where do you find the DVC member code?
Thanks in adevance
