August 2010 Code watch

We do love our free dining!;) I've never seen the suites, do they have any type of kitchen set up/ refrig, toaster, etc?

I have no trip planned for next year, and I must do something about that! Even though I was there last month, I'm having withdrawls. We went for a few days in Aug too, and though it was hot (still hot:rotfl:) crowd level was not bad at all.

You must do something about that. ;)

We'll be there mid August with my DD friends family. Looking forward to staying at the WL and the Polynesian.

You're doing a split stay between Poly and WL? Must be tough being you.:love2:

:rotfl:

We're going for the girls birthdays so that's their present.
That's how I'm justifying the cost. :rolleyes1

As much as I would like the Poly or WL, we did enjoy our stay in the ASMu suite. I found a few pics...

Here is the kitchen:

The counter area on the right includes a good sized refrigerator (not a cube), microwave, coffeepot and sink. I had my own toaster. There was plenty of storage not only in the kitchenette, but also in the whole suite. The bedroom is to the left, and one of the bathrooms is to the right.

Here are a few shots of the living room. The chair and the couch also pull out into beds, but my nephew loved that little bed!! In the first shot you can see the other bathroom with the privacy curtain closed. You can just about see the hallway leading to the kitchenette and bedroom on the left at the top of the armoire.

We enjoyed our stay at ASMu. The bus service was great, both going to and coming back from the parks. There were games and movies at the pool every day. All of the suites are in a preferred location which was nice.

Now that I think about it, if I added a small refrigerator and asked for a preferred location for my 2 rooms, that would make them more expensive than the suite.

 I agree, you need to do something about that!!

When we went to ASMu it was August (2008) and the crowd levels were not bad. When we went in July ('09) it seemed a lot more crowded. That is why we are looking at August again next year. Luckily my nephew lives in CT and schools start later than much of the rest of the country.

I'm looking at August now too. I can't decide If I should book the second week (8-14) or third (15-21). I prefer low crowds to free dining. Especially if I can get a room only discount. Assuming that free dining starts the third week, would the second week be much less crowded? TIA

The bounceback free dining starts on August 15. So does value season at the values. Value season at the mods and deluxes starts earlier. If history is any indication, then free dining will likely be opened to the public for Aug 15 as well.

I went Aug. 2-12 2008 and I did not think the crowds were bad at all. We were not there for free dining. Seems like you prefer the mods to values anyway. Usually a good code will be better than free dining at a mod anyway.

I am praying they offer the military discount again this year. 40% off the room and a 5 day pass for $99 per family member with the military member free. I've yet to find a deal that beats that, but I'll take anything. I'll be checking here often in hopes of getting a pin or discount code. Fingers crossed!

I think it would be pretty hard to beat that deal, Hilarie. Hope they offer it again. Who in your family is in the military? PLease be sure to give him/her a big thank you from me and mine!! I am glad to hear Disney gives a break on ticket prices for military families. Can you use the 40% at any resort?

We will be there Aug 15-22, 2010 with the free dining bounceback. I am hoping for a room discount so I can add a few days to the beginning of our trip. We can't stay past the 22nd due to school. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

I am crossed right there with you, GoofyMom (Cleveland?;)) Where are you booked for 8/15-22, and where do you want to book for your extra days?

PS I'm in Cincinnati.

My husband has been serving in the Air Force since 1994. He was active duty at first but he's in the Air National Guard now. He loves it, we're all very proud of him. Thank you for the kind words!

As far as I can remember you could use that discount at any resort. They had a limited number of rooms available for it but I think each one offered it. We had a Family Suite booked at ASMu this past August but had to cancel :sad2: I would love to see that offered again. I'm not holding my breath, though. According to other military families, these types of discounts only come around every few years. A lot of people were able to take advantage of it this year. It was a great deal!

Small world, huh? My sister and her husband live in Lebannon. We would  to stay at Beach Club for a few extra nights. If not there, POR or ASMusic. We are booked for the bounceback at POR, which is where we usually stay. I've thought about changing to ASMusic family suites for Aug 2010 but my kids love POR's pool. We just went in October and I am going through Disney withdrawl.;)

We ended a 9 day trip with 2 nights at the Beach Club and loved it. Can't beat hanging out at SAB for a pool day!! Since I'd like to try all of the resorts, we are considering a couple nights at YC so we can play at the pool again.

I will be staying at POR for the first time in January for the marathon. Any pointers you can give about the resort?

Well evryone, I finally got a PIN but it is not for the date I want!:sad2::sad2::sad2:

:lmao:

The other day I went on the Disney website to get some prices for BWV to help a poster here figure out if he had a good deal renting points or if he might get a better deal if 4/3 came out for his dates... So, today I get an email from Disney Destinations saying they noticed I was interested in BWV for May 1-5... I thought Huh? :confused3 Then I remembered!! So, they sent me a PIN!!! :cool1: The email didn't list dates, but said to call...

Now, I am looking for a PIN for August 2010, and I know there is one out there. So, I call to see what dates my PIN is good for...and, the CM tells me 10/4/09-12/24/09! Okay....They send a PIN because they see I was interested in May 2010, and the PIN is only good for 2009? And, I get the PIN on 10/28 when travel started on 10/4???

I may call again...;)

Joining the watch. I got the same PIN, was really hoping for that 40% summer one!

Right now we are booked for the 15th-22nd and planning to add free dining when it is released to Disney Visa but might need to move our dates earlier due to sports conflicts and having that PIN would make a big difference!

Thanks, I was planning a trip this past August for my 50th B-Day ...but had to cancel .:sad1: Hopefully DD and I will be going this coming August (hoping for Free Dining ):woohoo:

My birthday is in August too! In fact, right now we are scheduled to arrive on my b-day. :cool1: Do you plan to be there for your birthday?
