August 2008 Disney Trek PTR

Ok. I need some advice. My birthday is the day before we leave for Disney. Do I celebrate at home as a Pre-trip Family Dinner or at Disney? Give me some ideas what to do, please. We're not big partiers, but want to do dinner or something. Would it be unethical to wait a couple of days after my B-day and tell them at Disney we're celebrating? Suggestions wanted :)

Here are 2 of the drawings my DD has done.

She could go work in Disney's Animation Department someday. Those are nice drawings.

I can draw stick men. Think anybody is looking for a stick man artist in Disney???

I'm with you. I can't draw a thing. I showed DD what you said and it thrilled her to death:) She said that would be so "freakin' awesome" (her favorite words) to get to do that!!

Hey there! Just joining in to see what everyone is planning during the August/September months. I will be there after you (August 31-Sept. 6) and I am thinking of starting a pre-trip report since I love reading everyone else's so much!

I live in Newnan, Georgia which is about 50 miles South of ATL, but if you consider that area at all for a stop-over, there are lots of great hotels just off the interstate. Also, Perry is an area we travel to often (DH trains horses professionally and Perry hosts MANY of the shows). There are several nice hotels just off both Perry exits. I wish I had more information regarding Valdosta, but it's not an area I am familiar with. Good luck though!

shaunaday You should post a Pre-Trip. I've never done one before either and it's a lot of fun. Plus you get a lot of good ideas from people. Thanks for info. on the exits. We haven't decided yet.
If you do a pre-trip let me know so I can read it too. Would love to hear your plans too.

Below is the drawing my daughter just did for my office. Now I can't wait to go to work so I can hang it.

Amazing-you need to hire her out! She could design those Disney Tees. Or go to animation as MeMom suggested.

Is there a restaurant your really want to try? Maybe go there for your "post"birthday celebration.

I'll tell her what you said. She'd love that I think. Although, she's always saying her stuff isn't good compared to other kids at school, etc. I may be prejudiced but I think it's pretty awesome. :)

I'm not really sure where to go. We usually just do CS meals. We have done Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace and 1900 Park Fare in the past. We're not much interested in a Character meal this year. DD's are getting older and don't care about that (although they still love to see them in the parks and get their pictures with them). DH talks about trying one of the skillet meals at Whispering Canyon, but isn't sure about spending the extra money this time. I've seen where some have posted about this place, but I don't know much about it. Has anyone tried that lately? Is it good?

I'm looking for any suggestions. If we could do one TS meal, which would be your preference? Please give me some ideas people ;)

We had a little Disney Party at our house last night. Kind of stole the idea from MeMom. We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and used Tinkerbell plates, our Pop Century Mugs and some of the girls Disney Character Pillows and Mickeys. We listened to DisRadio while we ate and then after dinner, we played Disney Scene It. It was a lot of fun and helps keep the excitement up about our trip. I think the girls thought we were a little goofy, but they had fun too.

We'll have to see if we can't do a few more of these before we leave. Maybe next time I can even win one of the games of Scene It. Not!!

The Lady and the Tramp drawing is great! Trent and Kristi are our Lady and the Tramp. I bought them the plush dolls last year when we ate at Tony's Town Square, and since they're a few hundred miles apart during the week, Trent keeps Lady on his pillow, and Kristi keeps Tramp on hers. Kinda sweet, I think.

My Drew is a good artist, too, but he only like to draw cars, boats, and motorcycles and such. I'd probably have a hard time getting him to draw something sweetsie.

I'd love to have that natural talent. They are so fortunate. Especially being a teacher, it would be nice if I could draw something other than stick figures on the board when I'm demonstrating. Luckily, I only teach third grade, so they think I'm still okay with what I draw.

Way to go with your Disney meal! Didn't you have fun? It does keep it all going for us. We're trying to decide now what to do in May. I'm thinking either just going princessy or maybe doing an Alice in Wonderland Mad Hatter's Tea Party. I think that would be more whimsical, and the guys might like it more, but it would probably be hard to find stuff for it. Princesses I can find everywhere. We'll see. We'll just keep our eyes out for ideas.

MeMom: Your party ideas sound like fun. I don't know what we'll do next, but I'm sure we'll come up with something, ;)

Guess what the girls and I did today. We went to see "Beauty and the Beast". My oldest DD's school put the musical on this weekend and we went and saw it today. It was a lot of fun and they did a pretty good job with it. Man, now I really can't wait until August to get to see it at DHS!! :cool1:

I'm going to Columbus this weekend with my DSis. We're going to a Women of Faith Conference. Can't wait. I'll be working a half day on Friday and then picking up my sister and heading to Columbus. Takes a little less than 2 hrs. to drive there, unless we stop at the outlet malls on the way. :lmao: We'll check in and then go out to dinner and then head over to the arena for the conference which starts at 7p. We have a friend meeting us there. These conferences are the so awesome, I'm really looking forward to it. Plus my DSis and I always have a great time traveling. In fact, we've been to WDW several times together. A Women's Conference, outlet shopping and eating out, what could be better?

I had an awesome time at the conference this weekend. :thumbsup2 It's just unbelievable to see an arena full of 1000's of women worshiping and praising God. I just love it!! He is so awesome!

Now it's time to come back and make some more plans for our Disney Trip. We just made our reservations for 1 night in Georgia for our drive to Florida. We're going to stay at Quality Inn near Valdosta, GA. That means we'll be at the Florida Welcome Center early Wednesday morning (probably about 8:30am) to get our free orange juice and photo ops. We've got pictures there from past trips, so I'm sure we'll get more this time. We love to stop there. :) Then on to WDW!!!!!!!

Here are a couple of pics from 2004.

Only 99 days until we're at Pop Century and only 98 days until we leave!! :dance3: :dance3: We're dancing around here (or at least I am :rolleyes1 )

We've got the same pictures - of course, the Florida Welcome Center sign, and the boys stuck their heads in the ocean pictures. Pretty funny looking, they were! Our last three times driving, we've gone through so early in the morning it was still dark and they were closed.

Congratulations on getting into double digits! We're in the sixties!

I'm glad your conference was uplifting. We need all the uplifting we can get in this world!

So if this is all you have left, how many do I have? (Im not allowed to post a ticker) Can I double digit dance with you?:dance3:

Why YES I CAN!

Pooksma Congrats on being in double digits. Isn't the double digit dance fun! :woohoo: :woohoo:

We planned to have a little Disney fun last night to celebrate double digits, but that kinda got cancelled. Youngest DD had a bike-a-thon at school yesterday and wrecked the bike she borrowed from someone. We ended up at the emergency room with her. She's got her right wrist (yes she's right-handed too) in a temporary splint. They don't think it's broken but she has to see an orthopedic doctor on Monday to find out for sure. She's back at school today and says it's not hurting and I'm sure she's enjoying the extra TLC she's getting. I'm just glad she's ok. We still have another 98 days to Disney party. Might be time for another Disney movie real soon. popcorn::

In fact I told my DH today that I don't want a present for Mother's Day. Instead the next weekend I want him and the girls to take me to the cinema to see the new Narnia movie, Prince Caspian. It opens Friday, May 16 and I hope to see it in a matinee on Saturday the 17th. I know they'll all enjoy it as much as me. Can't wait. :dance3: Here I go, dancing again

Wow hope your DD is doing OK.

Prince Caspian for Mother's Day...Hmm...interesting idea...

How many days do we have left now?:dance3:

Jumping on board this train! Also a SW Ohio person here and a Disney trip coming in August too!

I hope your daughter is healing well and I can't wait to hear more details about your trip!
