August 20, 2016 Disney Magic 7 night Mediterranean

We've decided that we're dressing up on Frozen night regardless. I'll wear a dress and my DH a suit - we don't get much opportunity at home and it's nice to have the photos. Even if it's not being called formal night I'm willing to bet lots of people will still treat it as such - there must be a fair few cruisers who don't use internet groups and therefore may not know about the change, they'll be expecting it to be formal night since it's night 2.

We're on the previous cruise so will TRY and feedback about it.

I'd second that idea, we always enjoy dressing up for formal night. We had a Frozen night on our Baltic cruise last year but that was a 12 night cruise so we had formal night too

Greetings all

The Bakers from Calgary will be joining you on the cruise. We are David, Shannon, Matthew (13) and Caitlin (11). This is our third Disney cruise, and we will not be joining the FE group (dw and I are both too cheap to buy one, and neither of us have time to make one :) ). We are arriving in Barcelona on the 19th from Paris Disney (by train) and staying at the Renaissance.

For tours we are on the Vesuvius Hike and Pompeii, Imperial and Renaissance Rome with St. Peter’s Basilica, (me & dd) Pisa - Climb The Tower, (dw & ds)
Cinque Terre Scenic Boat Tour, and finally, Value Package - Nice & Monaco.

We are on a VGT room assignment so I don't know where our cabin is, but we look forward to meeting (some, many, all) of you.

David

Hi everyone, we have received our luggage tags this week and we're starting to get excited.
We're staying in Barcelona in the Hilton hotel the night before so means holiday comes one day earlier!
Just wondering if anyone knows when our GTY room will be allocated...we booked it to save as much money as possible but I'm starting to worry that the room will ruin the cruise if it's small/noisy/awful!

I just checked and our cabin assignment is not up yet either. I am confident that the cabin will not be awful--think happy, Disney thoughts. Small is likely since all the cabins are (relatively) small. Noisy is a possibility, but we have found that we spend so little time in the cabin that it is survivable. Remember, you are going on vacation. It is all good!

That's true, think my excitement and first cruise nerves have made me a bit anxious! I'd read that most GTY were allocated by around 30 days so was expecting that. I've since read they can be allocated at the port so I'd better get used to waiting! :)

UPDATE REGARDING NIGHT 2: I'm on the previous cruise as well and a fellow cruiser has just received the following email to her query regarding whether there's a formal night or not :

"The Frozen night will be taking place on night two in conjunction with the Formal night. You will have the Frozen menu that evening. Normally Formal night takes place on an evening where you would have your regular rotation menu and does not have a specific menu associated with it. On Semi-formal night we do normally off the Captain’s Gala menu, which we will be offering on this sailing as well even though there is no Semi-formal evening."

So it looks like there will be a formal night after all!

How formal is the formal night? Would a man need a tux or just a smart jacket? Would a pair of trousers and a top be ok for ladies?

Also, would anyone recommend buying the photo packages before we go?

3 weeks tomorrow! :yay:

Formal night's not very formal! You'll see some men in a tux, some in a suit, others just in a shirt minus tie. Ladies are fine in a top and trousers - some really dress up, others not so much so wear whatever you're comfortable in.

Sorry, can't really help with the photo packages. We've never booked the photo package beforehand but have bought the disc plus prints package twice on board. I do remember paying the same price on board as if we'd purchased in advance but it's a few years ago now so maybe they didn't discount the advance purchase in those days?

Thank you! Good to hear that we don't have to be too dressy since we want to take as little as possible!

So our in-laws are taking us on this cruise and I have only recently found out about decorating your door. Having sorted that today I then read a Pinterest post about FE - is it too late to participate? How do I go about joining the FE for this cruise? Also, I have read about the pirate night and am sorting our costumes for this however I haven't heard anything about the Frozen night? Could somebody please help a very excited but naive Disney Cruise first timer? Thank you in advance and cannot wait to have an exciting Disney adventure on the sea :)

Hello! It's my first cruise so can't be of much help! Just from reading these boards I don't think you need a specific outfit for Frozen night but looks like some will treat it as The formal night!
Also, I think the FE was cancelled on here...sorry, not entirely sure but we're very excited! :yay:

Hey, unfortunately the FE was cancelled here, and the one on FB is now closed. You don't have to dress up on the Frozen night, but I did see a lot of little Anna and Elsas running around last year

There was a FB page!
