As far as the Old Man, yes, it was a sillouette way up on a mountain side. Unfortunately, it succumbed to the forces of nature and slid down the mountain in the fall of 2003. It had been patched and glued, wrapped in wires and cables, etc over the years, but nothing could prevent it from happening, nor was there any warning. I couldn't believe it, I had seen it so many times and just like that, it was gone.

I remember where I was and what I was doing when the Old Man fell, do you? I was at Wal-Mart shopping with Jamie when an employee came over the PA system and said that the Old Man had fallen down the mountain and all merchandise was 50% off. I didn't quite get what he meant at first and I didn't believe him until we saw it on the news that night. We were lucky and I saw it for the first (and only) time in the summer of 2003.

For the Fools who are going to DL before the cruise I want to find out the least expensive place you are finding park tickets.

I just booked 2 nights at the DL hotel (on points). DVC has lowered the points needed to stay at the DL Hotel (only the DLH, not the PP or GC).

Bought airfare into Orange.

Just need to book transfers and park tickets.

DD and I are gonna have a girls weekend in November. She has a couple of days off from school and we are leaving DH at home! :cool1:

I wish we'd booked DLH and not the GC now. Oh well...we are really looking forward to our theme park view room.

By the way....the saga continues with the "employee of the month". Anyone want to hear the latest? :rotfl2:

We went for the standard view! The points were listed for 31 per night and they are now 23 per night! :cool1:

I used 46 points for 2 nights! Not too bad :rolleyes1

I LOVE the GC but for the points I could not pass up the DLH

You will love the GC! :lovestruc

I was sitting at me desk in my house in Arizona! I have a DIS friend that lives in Loudon, she linked me to the news station and the paper to get all the scoop.

Why would that cause Wallymart to have a sale?

Ok. Since you asked.... :rotfl2:

8:54....no sign of the new guy. Finally the phone rings....*cough, cough* "I don't think I'll be in today. I'm not sure what's wrong." *cough, cough*

Ok.....so it's day 5 of week 1 and sick day number 2..... :confused3

BUT WAIT....it gets better. While I'm on the phone with him someone else tells me that he wants to speak to the sickie....I patch him through. I go up and ask the other guy what his thoughts were (after he gets off the phone). He said "close the door". Uh oh.....He pulls out a newspaper clipping.....the newbie was arrested on April 14th....for stripping a car....a Class A misdimeanor....12 months in jail. This is the first anyone has heard of this.

:

Roxann, Allan Joy and I are staying at the DL hotel on points too, checking in on Wednesday before the cruise and also flying into SNA. Are you on Concierge level? May be see you there!

Wow, Jenny, so it wasn't your fault after all?! This is the best one I've heard in the list of excuses not to go to work.

And I don't think you look like a man on a mountain!

As far as I can tell.......

Jenn or Marsha strapped some poor old man on a mountain and then the wires broke and he fell down and Wallymart had a 50% off sale to help the poor guy out!

:confused3 :confused3

So I say "where does this leave us? I'm not sure I feel comfortable having a criminal work for me." He say "just wait. We can't jump to conclusions. We have to give him the benefit of the doubt. There are 2 sides to every story. He said that he was in the car with 1 friend while another was outside the car. His friend was taking the stuff off the car that was his ex-girlfriends. He has reciepts for all the stuff. The charges will most likely be dropped. (according to "employee of the month")."

I told him that I'm not sure I feel comfortable. What if he's full of bull and telling us a load of crap? We work in a very "comfortable" environment. Most people don't lock their car doors (I do, but just out of habit), I leave my purse and all my personal belongings just sitting on the floor by my desk (out in plain view and easily accessible). I'm not sure where things are going to go from here. I guess we're going to meet with him on Monday. I don't really have much of a say about whether he's fired or not (even though I'm his immediate supervisor). Jamie thinks I should push the issue and make sure he doesn't come back.

The Old Man in the Mountain. It used to be a rock formation in NH.

Where I used to work, if you were areested and it caused you to miss work, you got fired, no matter if you were found guilty or let off or what ever!

Umm, boss, I um, well, er I have some personal business that I have to get to today, so um, I won't be in for a while, like 3 to 6 with time off for good behaviour!!!!!

They put the keychains, postcards and stuff with him on it on sale to make people scoop it up like it was going out of style I guess. I'm not really sure.

OK, folks, this is a long posting: THis was sent to me by my friend who is a Special Branch policeman working on Intelligence at Manchester Airport:

After every Qantas flight the pilots fill out a form called a 'gripe sheet', which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems, document their repairs ont he form and then the pilots review the gripe sheet before the next flight. Never let it be said that the ground crews lack a sense of humour. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas's pilots and the solutions recorded by maintenance engineers. By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never had an accident. (P = problem; S = solution and action taken by the mechanics).

P: Left inside main tyre almost needs replacement
S: Almost replaced left inisde main tyre

P: TEst flight OK, except auto-land very rough
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft

P: Something loose in cockpit
S: Something tightened in cockpit

P: Dead bugs on windshield
S: Live bugs on back order

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 fee per minute descent
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear
S: Evidence removed

P: DME volume unbelievably loud
S: DME volume set to a more believable level

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick
S: That's what they're for

P: IFF inoperative
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode

P: Suspected crack in windshield
S: Suspect you're right

P: Number 3 engine missing
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search

P: Aircraft handles funny
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, flight right and be serious

P: Target radar hums
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on somthing with a hammer
S: Took hammer away from midget

Does this match Jenny's offerings?

Well, I guess the arrest has nothing to do with him missing work. It happened on April 14th and he hasn't been to court for it yet (and claims he won't have to). I'm pretty sure he is sick today (not necessarily sick enough to miss work during your first week by my standards), but we're not really sure what happened on Tuesday because the cat story was just a "story" I guess.

Now see this is where they were stupid. As they were pictures of the Old Man while he was still there, they should have raised the prices!!!! After all, they are now pictures of something that is gone, left for the momories, something to tell the grandkids about. Hey, this could become the first money maker for the sisterhood!!!!! Sorry JGE, my idea, I have the rights, too, so don't even think I won't sue for royalties.
