Resort Thread Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE

By the way, speaking of the roof work, just judging by recent aerials from @Biorenstruct on X and as shown in those ground shots posted above, they still need to get to the north and south wings (dark green vs faded green). The lobby section roof work done over the last year was relatively unobtrusive with only smaller sections of guest rooms impacted with roof access. The wings seem like they may continue to bring more scaffolding and such around some guest rooms for a bit, although TBD.

So the scaffolding is likely to still be around for several months it seems??
We don't actually know but it does look like the scaffolding may be around longer since they changed the scrim over the windows to the window film with the tree decals. The section of the resort wing has had scaffolding since some time in July. The scaffolding against the main building segment is relatively new.

Maybe the work will be paused during the Thanksgiving - New Years holiday period or the window film is meant to hide the work better from inside during the holiday period but my crystal ball is still in the shop at the moment.

Fogged Forest Window Decals & More Roof Work at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort

An updated Fort Wilderness Lodge resort hotel sits behind a gated outdoor pool with trees, umbrellas, and nearby walkers.

It was announced in November of 2024, that the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge would undergo refurbishment from mid-May 2025 to September 2025.

A building with green roofs and scaffolding on one side, surrounded by trees and partially sheltered by green awnings.
Although scaffolding and crew members are still present near the entrance to this section of the resort, work appears to be wrapping up.

On our recent visit, the crew looked to be focused mainly on the roof. You can see the wood is covered with plastic and painter’s tape to protect the surface.

In our last update, this sidewalk area had reopened for guest use, with green barriers and some equipment placed up against the building. With a small amount of scaffolding remaining, it looks like crew members have temporarily blocked the path again for guest safety.

Inside, the scrim on the windows has been replaced with fogged decals featuring forest trees, leaning into the wilderness theming of the resort. The exterior area is still closed off from guest access.

The new window clings expand across all of the windows, and this section of doors remains closed as well.

The terrace remains closed, with the majority of scaffolding and work left to complete. Several A-frame signs placed in front of the doors read, “Please Pardon Our Pixie Dust – This Area is Being Refurbished for Your Future Enjoyment.”

Thank you for these updates! When did they change the carpeting in my favorite hallway?! I will miss the red.

That carpet was there two weeks ago, but I can’t remember if it was the muted tones when there earlier this year.
I am so embarrassed! I was there in November 2024 and apparently I was too busy watching my granddaughter to notice the carpet had changed! (even after I took a picture?!) IMG_0107.jpeg

In my mind it will always look like this photo from 2020:

We are water view resort side in December and I keep teetering between "it'll be fine" and "the world is ending". Of course it isn't, because we'll be at Disney, but I'd still rather the scaffolding not affect our water view room. (Just politely musing/ranting)

I agree with you but maintenance is required or the roof will leak. It has to be done sometime. WDW, and the WL team is very aware that guests don't enjoy viewing scaffolding. However December is 2 months away so they may well be done but we don't have a schedule.

That's what they are working primarily on the resort side at this time. maintaining the roof sealing, and painting it, and exterior siding work. I don't see how the scaffolding is going to affect your water view, they are not hanging scrim panels around the scaffolding blocking your view or light.

May I ask how much time you plan to be in your room or on the balcony, this is WDW after all?

I spend a 1-2 hours reading on my balcony each morning before everyone else wakes up. Scaffolding isn't going to block my view but if I had my choice I'd rather there not be any. That's all.

This isn't a big deal. I thought my post was clear on that but if not, sorry -- I can delete it if it isn't OK.

No your views, opinions, are preferences are valid and more than OK. I even agreed with you in my first sentence. I would rather not have to see it either.

I’m not one to be bothered by construction, but this would DEFINITELY affect my water view!! That’s terrible.
For 99% of the time the scaffolding does not block the view. Yes I see the pic you just posted but it is not a direct view off the balcony or even out of the Sliding door, and I would not want or like that view.

That picture looks to be from the main building on the 3rd floor walk area, and it is looking down directly at the Courtyard Side toward Roaring Fork QS, and not the direct view from a balcony or from a room.

Other pics do show some room balconies are/were directly affected, but I’d like to think they wouldn’t put anyone in them!

…at least I hope not!!! 😬

Yes there will always be these types of pictures when scaffolding is present but again this is not the view directly out of a room deck or the Sliding door for a major section of the WL Water view resort rooms.

In this image the block of about 7 resort rooms on Floors 4 - 6 that are all King bed rooms that would see the scaffolding directly outside of their balcony.

No I would chose one of these 7 room unless I wanted a King room, and those were the only ones available. Worst case if you get a room that has scaffolding blocking your deck, walk back to the Front desk and ask if another room might be available immediately or the next day.

The heavy blocking section with the ladder is over the atrium area in this picture. The 7 rooms to the right side of the picture do have the scaffolding cross supports directly outside of these balconies, and there is no other way to build scaffolding.

Yes they have and will continue to use the rooms shown in that picture for Guests. There is no real-time reporting on which rooms may have scaffolding present. However when workers need to be present on the scaffolding and standing directly outside of the room. The WL is great about providing signage on the Sliding door, a note under the door before the workers are scheduled to be out there.

Yes we have been in resort rooms impacted by scaffolding work over the years a few times. No we did not love it but for us it was not an issue that would ruin the stay.

Speaking of scaffolding, someone just posted a short video about an hour or so ago on FB. I took some screenshots to share.
