Diary Of A Woman On Her 1st Cruise

Dear Diary:

MONDAY: I felt singularly honored this evening
as the Captain asked me to dine at his table.

TUESDAY: I spent the entire afternoon on the
bridge with the Captain. He is so charming

WEDNESDAY: The Captain made several
proposals to me unbecoming an officer and
a gentleman.

THURSDAY: Tonight the Captain threatened
to sink the ship if I do not give in to his indecent
proposals!

FRIDAY: This afternoon I saved 1600 lives...
twice!!!

TWICE! :rotfl2: Musst be a very YOUNG Captain! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Donna or Barbara or Susan or any other SoCal DISer: Is DL on a Saturday the weekend after the 4th of July insanely busy or do-able? Trying to decide whether to go on TH/F or F/Sat. Any info would be appreciated!

Hello all, just lurking around, Pete was off yesterday and that cuts into my DIS time.

I will tell you all a well known secret in the cruise industry. If you are booked on a cruise through a top volume producing agency for the cruise line, and you pay your cruise off before the date, you have a better chance of getting upgraded. I don't know if this works at DCL, but I used another agency for my past cruises, as has my son, and we have been upgraded several times. SO that is why I pay mine off as soon as I can. Sometimes that means early, sometimes that means on the cut off date, depending on my cash flow.

Two kids were outside playing ping pong on Deck 9 of the Disney Magic. One of them slams the ping pong ball across the net and cries out, I win! I got 1000 points!

The other kid looks at his opponent with contempt and yells back, "No way, I have 1110 points!"

??????

Is that the riddle of the day?

A young man, who was also an avid golfer, found himself with a few hours to spare one afternoon. He figured that if he hurried and played very fast, he could get in 9 holes before he had to head home. Just as he was about to tee off, an old gentleman shuffled onto the tee and asked if he could accompany the young man as he was golfing alone. Not being able to say no, he allowed the old man to join him.

To his surprise, the old man played fairly quickly. He didn't hit the ball far, but plodded along consistently and didn't waste much time. Finally, they reached the 9th fairway and the young man found himself with a tough shot. There was a large pine tree right in front of his ball and directly between his ball and the green. After several minutes of debating how to hit the shot, the old man finally said, "You know, when I was your age, I'd hit the ball right over that tree."

With that challenge placed before him, the youngster swung hard, hit the ball up, right smack into the top of the tree trunk and it thudded back on the ground not a foot from where it had originally lay.
The old man offered one more comment, "Of course, when I was your age, that pine tree was only 3 feet tall."

Perhaps. Perhaps not.

The question is, can you solve it if indeed it is the riddle of the day?

I'm perplexed about how/why people have their cruises paid up. I'm such a cheapo I want to pay at the last minute and collect every penny I can while it sits in the bank.

We're with you on that one, RobinMarie! Why should someone else have our interest?

Oh--and Addison will be 2 on April 16th!! TIME FLIES!!! Nancy's daughter (Perdita) Emma will be 2 on the 15th--one day apart! Pretty cool!
Yes, Emma will be 2 on Tax Day! I know Haley will be 2 on the cruise, too - any other 2 year olds on the cruise besides these three?

In our case, we will be putting the June final payment on Disney Visa, so technically we won't be paying the final payment until December (6 months same as cash). So I guess with the extra interest earned this will get us a second Bahama Mama? Or we can use it to paint the yacht this year!

Anyone besides me not want an upgrade? We have two perfect Cat 6 Deck 6 midship connecting cabins right down the hall from two other Cat 6 adjoining cabins for our group. An upgrade to any of these four cabins would mess us up (unless it was an upgrade to a Cat 1-2-3 which is unlikely), so we will leave the upgrades for everyone else. Good Luck Fools!

Well, if I get upgraded, then that means I won't be next to Mark anymore. Hmmm, that's a toss up. :rotfl2:

I hear ya Renee!!
He was beside me initially, and I almost tossed up when I heard. A phone call to All Seasons thankfully remedied that problem :goodvibes

Actually Haley will be almost 3 on the cruise (she turns 3 in November). The good thing is with the kids being so close in age, it make make things easier to drop them off in Flounders if they have friends there.

Did you get a carseat or booster for the trip? We're bringing Haley's highback booster for the trip. It's very light and she sleeps on the plane when in her seat. I also don't have to worry about getting one for the rental since we have ours.

Okay, so Emma & Addison are 5 months younger than Haley - pretty close in age I agree! Anyone else? Jweiss? Tigger24? Denine? Maryisme? Thesoldtrain? (I went through both Aug. cruiser lists and these are the screen names I saw with DD2's)

We are bringing the belt-positioning (backless) booster (fits in the suitcase) for Emma. She should be close to the 30lb requirement by the time of the cruise and I don't think the shuttle companies are gonna whip out their scales to weigh her to confirm for transport. ;) We don't use a carseat on planes because she likes to sleep on me ( :cloud9: ) and I want her to have the roomyness of the airplane seat to move around on during the flight (4 hours in this case). She's flown (as a lap baby) four round trips (Chicago to each of AZ-FL-CA-FL) already in her 2 years so we have some experience. I think she would get too restless in a traditional carseat on the plane. YMMV - that's just how my kid is!

We should get a list going of all the little girls that are under 3 any "may" be utilizing Flounders here and there. I'm thinking I may get some time slots around 6:30-7:00 ish so I can take her to dinner with us, let her eat and then run her over to Flounders to play while we finish dinner. If not--I'll need to bring something to dinner to occupy her so she doesn't get bored. Who knows--maybe she'll be fine. Anyone else have suggestions?? Maybe an idea of something that will keep her busy?? (We don't eat out much since I don't enjoy paying $$$ to scarf it all down in a 30 minute time frame.) :)

Getting a list together sounds great. Anyone want to volunteer? Not me since I have the Cell Phone List.

They have crayons at dinner for the kids to color with and we usually bring a small toy for her to play with. The past two cruises, we dropped her off after dinner, which was probably around 8 pm or 8:30 and left her there for a couple of hours. Just enough time to give us some alone time. Since there are so many days on this cruise, I might try sending her there during the day so she can play with other kids so she can have a break too.
